? Kills uncle’s 9-yr-old son, another 5-yr-old boy
? Collects N.2m ransom from uncle

? Demands N3m from second victim’s parents
? Harvests kids’ vital organs for money ritual

Chizoba Michael  Nwobodo’s inordinate ambition to get rich quick has left two families in deep sorrow and anguish. The 24-yr-old  gruesomely murdered two young boys and harvested their vital organs for money making rituals.
He’s a kidnapper, armed robber and ritual killer who hails from  Umualaguroyi Uhueze Nenwe village in Aninri West Local Government Area of  Enugu State.  He committed the heinous crimes between August and October this year.

In the first incident, which occurred in Ohuhu, Abia State on August 7, 2013, he abducted Emmanuel Nwobodo, the nine-year-old son of his uncle, Nnamdi Nwobodo, immediately the boy returned from school at 4.00pm on that fateful day. He took the boy into a nearby bush, beheaded him and proceeded to harvest his  kidneys, lungs, heart and genitals. Done with the horrible act, he calmly dumped the boy’s dismembered body on the bank of a nearby river.
When evening came and the boy had still not returned from school, the parents started searching for him. Chizoba even joined in the search for the unfortunate  boy. When he could not be found, his parents reported the matter to the police at Isikwuato Police Station, Abia State.

Later, Chizoba made a call to his uncle, informing him thus: “I told my uncle that I kidnapped the child at 4.00pm, that if he can pay me ransom of N300,000 I would release the child to him. He paid me N200,000. After some time, I called my uncle again and demanded another sum of N200,000. I told him to sell his land, but my uncle refused to pay the money. At the time I was demanding the money, I had already killed the child.”
On October 11, 2013, barely two months after murdering nine-year-old Emmanuel,  Chizoba again abducted another child, Promise Uwakwe, a five-year-old boy as he was returning from school. This time around, he enticed the innocent boy with biscuits, dragged him into the  bush and when the obviously startled boy began to scream  after sensing danger, Chizoba quickly strangled him to death and then removed the boy’s vital organs.

Promise’s father, Mr Ngozi Nwakwe said the family became worried when the boy’s school uniform was found on the ground but he could not be found. After the first day, he reported to the police at Anniri Police Post and the policemen joined in the search for the child. When the child was not found after three days, the case was transferred to the Anti-kidnapping Squad of the Enugu State Police Command.
Like  the well-known Otokoto ritual killing incident that occurred in 1996 in Imo State, the blood of the gruesomely murdered innocent little boys cried unceasingly before the Throne of the Almighty for justice.
“It was when the suspect demanded  N3 million ransom from us that we alerted the police and they rounded him up and he confessed to them that he had killed my son and removed his genitals  lungs, kidneys and heart and then dumped him inside a water tank from which we recovered his corpse,” Nwakwe said in anguish.
Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abubakar Adamu who narrated Chizoba’s murderous escapades  to Sunday Sun revealed that the suspect was exposed when he called Mr Nwakwe and demanded  N3 million ransom for the boy. The family refused and reported to the police.

CP Adamu said the Commander of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad,  Alex Akinlalu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and his team swung into action and arrested Chizoba at  his village.
In a brief chat after his arrest by the police, Chizoba told Sunday Sun  “I am a kidnapper, armed robber, ritualist, artist and musician. I traveled to India in 2013 to acquire power so that anything I engage in will prosper. I spent one month and one week in India. I needed money, so I contacted a herbalist who told me that if I wanted to make money I should look for two boys and two girls between the ages of four and nine years old for money ritual.”
Continuing, he said: “I used the two boys for the ritual. I bought red candle, blue candle, black candle, white candle and other ritual materials and did some incantations after which I threw the human parts into the bush.”
Meanwhile, Mrs. Elizabeth Nwobodo, mother of Emmanuel, the first victim, is crying and calling on the government to ensure that justice is done and she has been assured by CP Adamu  that the suspect would definitely be charged to court for his heinous crimes at the conclusion of investigations.

Woman Wahala! Two friends in knife fight over woman

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 18 Second

An auto mechanic, Sesi Anumundu, was reported to have been stabbed several times on the head by his friend during a scuffle over a woman. Anumundu, a native of Delta State is said to be recuperating in an undisclosed clinic in Lagos. The 37-year-old was said to have engaged his childhood friend, Lati Adekoya, in a fierce fight over the latter’s lover, Fortune. The bloody event occurred on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.

Both Anumundu and Adekoya had reportedly been friends since their early childhood days at Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State. When both came out of the secondary school, Anumundu relocated to Ibeshe, Lagos State with his uncle while Adekoya remained at Ibadan.

But it was said that because of their closeness, Adekoya always stayed in his friend’s Uncle’s house anytime he was in Lagos. Since Anumundu could not proceed to the tertiary level, he reportedly opted to learn auto mechanic while Adekoya reportedly secured admission into one of the Polytechnics in the South South region of the country.

At the time he was in school, Adekoya often times spend his breaks in Lagos with Anumundu, who by then, had already secured a room apartment for himself at Ogijo, via Ikorodu in Ogun State. In one of his visits to Anumundu last year, Adekoya was introduced to a woman, Fortune, by his friend.

Before long, Adekoya and Fortune became serious lovers to the knowledge of people in Anumundu’s neighbourhood. It was also reported that Fortune had twice visited Adekoya in school and on one such occasions, the latter had equally visited Fortune’s mother in Ughelli, Delta State. By 2012, Adekoya was through with his education and had to go for the one year national youth service in one of the North Eastern states of the country.

Because of the far distance to Lagos, Adekoya reportedly hardly come to Lagos during his service year. However, it was one of those rare occasions that he came to Lagos that he reportedly met Anumundu and Fortune naked in bed making love.

An eye witness told Saturday Mirror that a neighbor of Anumundu, who was also close to Adekoya had earlier intimated him of the amorous relationship between his bosom friend and his girlfriend.

The later always rubbished such claims and reportedly began to keep malice with the whistleblower. That was around June, 2013. When the news of the romance between his friend and Fortune became persistent, Adekoya had reportedly called his friend on phone one day to challenge him on the issue but he rebuffed the claim. The bubble, however, burst recently when Adekoya chose to come to his friend’s house for a break. It was said that Adekoya gave no one any inkling of his home-coming. Fortune, an auxiliary nurse at a private hospital in Ikorodu always had her off days on Tuesdays and Sundays.

So, it was on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 that Adekoya chose to come to see his friend. He neither informed his friend nor Fortune of his visit. On that fateful day, around 11:00a.m, when apparently no one was in Anumundu’s compound, Adekoya, who had arrived Lagos the previous night but stayed away from his friend’s house, suddenly bumped into Anumundu’s apartment. He reportedly met his friend and girlfriend stark naked, making love.

The youth corps member reportedly wasted no time in engaging his friend and the one that connected him and the woman in a heated war of words. Rather than show remorse, Anumundu chose to lambast his friend and reportedly ordered him out of his apartment. At that point, Adekoya could not hold back his anger; he descended on his friend. It was reported that during the fight, the youth corps member grabbed a knife on Anumundu’s shelve and cut the auto mechanic in several parts of his body. Fortune, in the interim, reportedly fled the scene while the two men fought each other.
Anumundu, on his own, collapsed on his sofa. Speaking on the incident, a neighbour, Mama Chinonso, claimed that Fortune was a regular visitor to the house but that she was not aware who her real lover was between the two friends.

“The lady comes here every time but I am surprised to hear that she was the other man’s girlfriend. We just moved into this area so I did not know that she was actually dating Adekoya. It was the noise of the lady running out of the compound that drew some people’s attention to the scene. By the time we got there, the man (Anumundu) had been stabbed several times and people around had to rush him to the hospital.”

Anumundu also spoke with reporters on phone. According to him, “I initially introduced him (Adekoya) to the lady but he told me he did not like her. After a while, the lady told me that she preferred to date me and we started”. Neither Adekoya, nor Fortune could be reached on phone as their mobile telephones were switched off.

Incredible: A woman once refused to marry me because I had no car-Saka

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 17 Second

I don Port! That famous MTN advert brought a man to prominence and that man is no other Person than  HAFIZ OYETORO Popularly known as Saka.

Ok, do you know that Saka marriage proposal was once turned down by a Lady because he does not have a car. Incredible it may seem but Saka revealed this and many more in an exclusive interview he granted Punch Newspaper.

Hear Saka and his Pretty Wife Laide as they go down memory lane on how they met:

You said earlier that a woman refused to marry you because you did not have a car?
Saka: Yes. It was after my master’s degree programme and there was no money. I was just an average artiste, struggling to survive, but the lady did not see the future. I remember telling her that I was ready for marriage. Her reply was that I was not ready because I did not have a car. I told her that with my job, I should be able to get a very comfortable car within a year. She insisted that one car would not be sufficient since she was going to be pregnant one day. That was when I knew that in order to get married to her; I had to have two cars first

Why did you marry him when he did not have a car?
Olaide: I did not marry him because of material things. I married him because of the love I have for him

Saka: I have never had any regrets about marrying Laide. It has been from one level of progress to the other. I thank God for giving me the grace to meet her. I married her into a room and parlour apartment before we moved into the college staff quarters. Very soon, by the grace of God, we will move into our personal home. It has been very rewarding.

Your husband ‘ported’ from poverty to a comfortable living, how is that affecting you?
Olaide: I don’t think he was ever poor because poverty is a mindset. He was not as rich as this but one has to reach a phase in life. The extra money has brought positive changes to my business. I thank God for giving him to me.

Now that you are rich, as a Muslim, would you want to marry a second wife?
Saka: No. It is too late for me to marry another wife. At 50, what else would I be looking for? I have three children, I have my job and my wife is still young. If I marry another one now, that means I want to die, I cannot cope with the stress.

What price do you have to pay for fame?
Saka: Fame affects my freedom. I am naturally simple; I would love to live my life without being too conscious of what people would say. But these days, my personal assistants and managers and sometimes, my lawyer would follow me to certain places and try to hide me from people. Also, some people harass me to get money. If I go out, I don’t spend anything less than N5000 just tipping people. Sometimes, I give people N1000 and they will complain that it is too small. They would abuse me and consider me to be snobbish or stingy. I have to be realistic and not give people money every day, otherwise, I will be broke. What I am trying to do now is to give people who are really in need. That is more productive than showing off by giving money to people who run after me.

What pet names do you have for each other?
Olaide: I call him Oye, which is the short form of his name.
Saka: I call her Olomi.

All right we have heard Saka and the Pretty wife. Share your thoughts with us!

Nigeria: A time to ponder

0 0
Read Time:6 Minute, 26 Second

A few weeks ago, former Minister of Aviation in Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s government, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), in one of his lately prodigious outpourings, posted a piece on the Facebook which I found to be intriguing. Here’s an excerpt of our exchange, served today for its relevance to the continuing debate on a (Sovereign) National Conference and the future of Nigeria. Enjoy:

FFK: Today a great march and protest is taking place in the Catalan region of the nation of Spain. According to the polls, 52 per cent of the people from that region wish to break off from Spain and to establish a new European sovereign state.

Later this year the people of Scotland are having their own referendum to determine whether or not they will stay in the United Kingdom and again, from the polls, it is very clear that the majority of Scots wish to have their own new sovereign state and that the Scottish Nationalist Party enjoys massive support.

Nobody in either Spain or the United Kingdom has insulted those people or labelled them as “ethnic jingoists’’ or “primitive tribalists’’ for wanting to break off from the greater whole and establish their own country.

This is because everyone respects the right of the various ethnic groups and nationalities within their wider nation to exercise their right of self-determination that is an integral and fundamental aspect of international law. Exercising that right does not turn them into villains and does not make them any less patriotic than their compatriots who do not share their views. It just means that they have a different perspective and that they believe, as many believed before Malaysia and Singapore broke up, that the interests of their various peoples are better served when and if they go their separate ways.

They opted to be friendly neighbours rather than to be compelled to remain within the same territory against their collective will. As we in Nigeria approach the 100th anniversary of our 1914 Lugardian amalgamation and, as the 2015 elections are fast approaching with both the northern region and the South-South zone desperate to take or to hold on to power at any cost respectively, we need to begin to ask ourselves some basic and fundamental questions about our future. For example, is our interest better served by remaining as one nation or is it time for those nationalities that wish to leave the federation in a peaceful and orderly way, as a result of a legitimate and honest referendum, be allowed to go?

If the breaking up of larger countries into smaller and more viable ones is good enough for India (which broke into three), the Sudan (which broke into two), Czekhoslovakia (which broke into two), Yugoslavia (which broke into 5), the Soviet Union (which broke into 15) and numerous other countries over the years why is it not good enough for us? Again why should those that believe that Nigeria ought to break up be subjected to so much suspicion, ridicule, contempt and insults from those that do not share their views?

Some of the questions that need to be answered are as follows – firstly is our union working? Secondly is our marriage a good one and if it is, is it a happy one as well? Are we satisfied with what has essentially become a country that has been turned into nothing more than (with apologies to Chief Bode George) “Turn by Turn Nigeria?’’ where each ethnic group simply looks forward to enjoying its time to control the federation and all the nation’s resources from an all powerful centre? Are we not meant to be far more than this? Is this what the founding fathers of our nation envisaged?

Is it not clear that each region or each nationality ought to be able to develop at its own pace? Is it not time for us to have a confederation of nationalities in Nigeria and to restructure the country drastically to give maximum autonomy to the various regions and nationalities, or indeed is it not time to just break up and go our separate ways?

Whichever way it goes and regardless of what we all think, let us not allow this debate to be driven by ignorance, pettiness, hate or acrimony. Let us not insult one another here or act as if any tribe or nationalities are angels whilst others are demons. Let us join issues and exchange ideas in a civil, restrained and decent manner without hurling any insults at one another or allowing our emotions to becloud our thinking.

At the end of the day we all want the same thing- namely, what is in the best interest of the Nigerian people and what type of arrangement will allow them to achieve their full potential? That is the issue and that alone.

TF:I agree absolutely with my brother FFK on this. And I don’t care what name anyone chooses to call those of us who like to think – think differently, think outside the box, think boldly, and face a new future. Of course, no solution, no line of action, is going to be easy or a bed of roses. But, it is a question of possible lesser evil, and, more importantly, giving what has a better chance of working a go.

The truth, the bitter truth, is in spite of romantic notions of some past, the country has always been beset with internal strife and combustible ethnic rivalries promoted and exploited by successive unconscionable leadership. Yes, one Nigeria and all that, if it can work and we can assume the pace of development that matches our potential. But, no, not at the expense of the peaceful existence and aspirations of those who choose differently.

I have nothing against the Niger Delta folks keeping their oil to themselves. Good for them. If Nigeria is still to remain one, then we can sit and determine what percentage goes to the centre for what need be run by the centre. Ditto, other places. I would love to travel to the Niger Delta (if keeping their oil will bring them peace and they stop the kidnapping stuff) and enjoy what they have to offer without having to get a visa, but with getting a visa if I must. No peoples in this world need oil necessarily to survive or to develop.

We need to talk and negotiate our relationship. If some bloc would like to go their way, and it is agreed to by referendum, then I see why not. That does not mean the country needs to splinter into a thousand countries – though I find nothing wrong with even that. Truth is, no matter how small a breakaway group is, there is likely to be one country in the world still smaller – and existing happily and probably viably! When the country sits down to negotiate, there are a number of small ethnic groups that would decide their interests are better served teaming up with some others, etc.

In any case, that is jumping the gun. We do not have to break up. Let us just sit and talk. Let us recognise our differences and negotiate our co-existence on mutually agreed terms.

Let us free the powers and energies of the component nationalities to strive for their vision and goals. We do not have to develop at the same pace.

FFK: My dear egbon, Tunde Fagbenle, I  really  appreciate that. Coming from one of the greatest writers in Nigeria, that is a great compliment. Thanks so much. God bless you forever.

US spies on Nigerian security agencies’

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 43 Second

Indications emerged on Saturday that the United States has been spying on the Nigeria’s security agencies, especially the State Security Service, and probably the Presidency.

In a report published in New York Times, Edward Snowden, an American computer specialist, who worked for the US Central Intelligence Agency and as a contractor with the US National Security Agency, stated that Nigeria’s SSS was one of the security agencies across the globe that the N.S.A. had been listening in on.

He said briefs on the information gleaned from intercepting of telephone conversations and hacking of computers of the SSS, other security agencies in Nigeria and other countries are delivered to the office of the US President, Barrack Obama every morning.

“By many accounts, the agency provides more than half of the intelligence nuggets delivered to the White House early each morning in the President’s Daily Brief — a measure of success for American spies. One document boasts that listening in on Nigerian State Security Service had provided items for the briefing “nearly two dozen” times. In every international crisis, American policy makers look to the N.S.A. for inside information,” Snowden told New York Times.

The release of documents that proved that the NSA had been eavesdropping on the communications of world leaders, including US allies, had caused diplomatic rows, with Germany and some other countries protesting.

Snowden also noted that the NSA had obtained thousands of classified documents, containing secrets of governments around the world, pointing to a possibility that it might have obtained secret documents of the Federal Government of Nigeria, or tapped President Goodluck Jonathan’s phone conversations.

Snowden, who is on a temporary political asylum in Russia, disclosed classified details of several top-secret United States, Israeli, and British government mass surveillance programmes to the press.

He started releasing the NSA’s documents in June and the documents he has released so far show that the US has been spying most countries in the world.

I’ll reply Atiku in my book – Obasanjo

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 15 Second

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said he would respond to the claims made by his erstwhile deputy, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, on their political relationship, in his soon-to-be published book.

Abubakar had, in an interview published in Hausa language by a newspaper, disclosed that he “blasted” Obasanjo over his bid to run for a second term and had argued vehemently with him on his (Obasanjo’s) bid to go for a third term.

He also claimed he snubbed Obasanjo, who had visited his residence to plead for his support for a second term. He disclosed that Obasanjo gave him a Quran to swear as a pledge of his loyalty to him, during one of their arguments.

When contacted for Obasanjo’s response to Abubakar’s claims, the former President’s media aide, Mr. Vitalis Ortese, simply told one of our correspondents, “Wait for our book.”

Also, Obasanjo’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Victor Durodola, said the former President did not want to respond to the things Atiku said in the interview.

“There is nothing to respond to. What was published was taken out of context, from an interview. He (Atiku) did not come to say it directly, so it is not something we can respond. My principal does not want to respond to it,” he said.

When asked if Atiku’s claims were correct, Durodola said, “There is nothing to correct.”

NIGERIA: Voter Apathy Mars Enugu LG Poll

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 32 Second
The Local government Council election conducted by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) yesterday witnessed a low turn out across the 17 councils in the state as most residents stayed   indoors.

The development may not be unconnected with the fact that all the chairmanship candidates as well as over 95 percent  of councillorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  were returned unopposed as candidates of other parties were disqualified by the commission over several reasons bordering on the alleged presentation of fake tax clearance certificates as well as fake educational qualifications.

However, apart from the low voter turn out, there were equally pockets of crisis in some areas, especially where opposition candidates fielded candidates against the PDP. Although, the state high court had last Thursday reportedly restrained the ENSIEC from conducting election in Isiuzo and Ezeagu Councils as well as one ward in Udi Council, it was discovered that elections went on in the affected areas.

THISDAY checks revealed that political thugs had beaten up agents of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA ) at Ikem Umuaram polling centre, while houses were reportedly burnt in Umualor ward.
The same situation also played out in Eke in Udi Council where members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) alleged that PDP members carted away electoral materials.

Meanwhile, both Governor Sullivan Chime and the leadership of the PDP in the state have expressed satisfaction with the conduct of elections, saying the process was transparent.

Chairman of PDP in Enugu State, Chief Vita Abba, gave this verdict shortly after voting at Community Primary School Ede-oballa, Nsukka   Local Government of the state.

Abba, who voted around 11.30am, noted that there was a tremendous improvement, both in the turnout, in the organisation and in the whole arrangements for the election.

Read Time:1 Minute, 13 Second
Two Deputy Inspectors – General of Police (DIGs), the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega,  as well as six other  Federal  Electoral Commissioners  and 15 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs)  are billed to supervise the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State.

At the moment, the two DIGs, Emmanuel Udoji of C Department and Solomon Leha of Operations Department, Police Force Headquarters, Abuja,  are already in the state to ensure that the election is  violence free.
Speaking yesterday during  a meeting with the political party stakeholders and  the governorship candidates at the State Police Headquarters, Awka,  Udoji  said that the Inspector–General  of Police (IG), Mohammed Abubukar, has directed them  to monitor the election  and ensure that it is devoid of any violence.

He said the message of the IG to them was also meant to be transmitted to their supporters not to resort to any form of violence during the election, no matter the level of provocation, vowing that the Police authority will not take it kindly with any party or individual who foment   trouble during the election.
He said   the police will mobilise   enough men and materials to Anambra State to ensure that the governorship election is  a huge success, and that they would work with sister security agencies  to ensure enough manpower for the election.

Elechi: Support for My Election Not an Investment

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 18 Second
Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State weekend told the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), faithful and his supporters in the 2011 governorship elections that their support  for is electoral victory was not an investment but a collective responsibility to ensure that there was a government, without which they would have been losers.

He said that he has no regrets or apologies for anybody who was not appointed as Coordinators of Development Centres because he has the power to appoint any person  he chooses worthy to occupy any public office.

Elechi stated this during the swearing in of the newly-elected local government chairman and Coordinators of Development Centres at the Women Development Centre, Abakaliki, the state capital.
