The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu revealed to newsmen that that the National Orientation Agency (NOA) never supported the President’s change agenda.
Shehu said this while announcing the President’s decision to embark on zonal town hall meetings with Nigerians
He said “We have an agency like NOA with 773 offices nationwide.
“Each has not less than 5 to 7 staffs and well-equipped, but you know also, sometimes democracy has its own dark side.
“The President came and he wanted to really be fair to every Chief Executive. If he wanted to fire people on assumption (of office), he would have done it and he would not have violated any rule.
“He decided to give everyone a chance to see whether they would imbibe the change mantra, to see whether they were prepared to go along (with him).”
He said “I will say with all sincerity that NOA was a source of worry for us in government; the people and the leadership never believed in what we are doing.
“They never believed in change. They just folded their arms and watched us for the period of 8 to 9 months that they were there.
“I believe the new leadership would begin to formulate things for agencies like that.”
Speaking on the town hall meetings, Shehu said Buhari decided to hold zonal town hall meetings with Nigerians, to keep them abreast of the government’s activities.
He said “I know that there is a plan that the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo would start town hall meetings in zones.
“It would then be broken down to the states and so on.
“Government realises that there is a need to take information to the people and there are steps that are being taken in order to ensure that is done.”
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly began making moves to woo the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in other to secure a second term ticket.

Hunters from the 27 local Government Areas in Borno have called on the Nigerian Army authorities to let them join the fight against Boko Haram.
The hunters say they can fish out members of the sect who are hiding in the dreaded Sambisa forest, because they know the terrain.
Punch reports that the Chief Hunter of Borno, Mallam Maigana Maidurma said “We are renewing out call on the military authorities to allow us join the search for Boko Haram elements in their Sambisa forest hideout.
“We are ready to pursue the terrorists because we know the terrain in and out.”
Maidurma said his men are not afraid of the landmines which the sect members reportedly buried in the forest.
He also boasted that his men have supernatural powers that will help in the war against the insurgents.
He said “We know that it is true that the Boko Haram terrorists are in the habit of burying landmines to prevent encroachment into their hideout.
“But we believe that we can work in collaboration with Local Vigilantes, called Civilian JTF, to overrun them.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Andrew Pocock, the former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, revealed in a report that the United States Of America (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK) spotted the location of the Chibok girls, but did nothing to rescue them.

Human rights activists, under the aegis of Civil Society Coalition for Positive Change and Stand Up for Nigeria (SUN), have given the minister of state for petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, 72 hours to resign.
The civil rights groups said the fact that the the fuel crisis is still lingering, shows that Kachikwu has no clue on how to solve the problem.
They also threatened to hold a mass protest in Abuja, if the minister does not resign.
The activists, in a statement said “Nigerians fought hard to vote in this government of change. But to hear the minister say the kind of things he said is not only insulting to Nigerians but showed his gross incompetence. Nigerians will not tolerate such recklessness. In case the minister needs a reminder, the era of incompetence is long gone with the previous administration. “
“Since he has admitted that he cannot restore normalcy to the current fuel crisis, he should immediately resign his position. Indeed, Kachikwu was not coerced to take this job. He accepted the job and its responsibilities knowingly. He also must remember that he does not own NNPC. This also is not a private company that owes nothing to the public except the duty of fair dealing. He is a public servant. The seat he sits upon is owned by Nigerians not by him,” they added.
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu also lashed out at Kachikwu over his comments on the fuel scarcity.

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has lashed out at the minister of state for petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, over his comment about the lingering fuel scarcity.
The APC national leader did not mince words as he spoke about the minister’s use of words.
Kachikwu on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, while speaking about the fuel crisis, told newsmen that he was not a magician.
Although the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) came out to clear the air on the minister’s comments, Nigerians have not let it go.
Tinubu accused Kachikwu of insulting Nigerians and speaking like an elitist.
“It insulted the people by its tonality. He spoke with the imperious nature of a member of the elitist government the people voted out last year and not the progressive one they voted in,” he said.
He also said the minister “has strayed from the progressive calling required of this administration.”
Tinubu also said “Perhaps the statement by Kachikwu was made in a moment of unguarded frustration or was an awkward attempt at a joke. Whatever the motive, it was untimely and off-putting. The remark did not sit well with the Nigerian people; they were as right to feel insulted as the minister was wrong to have said such a thing.”
The former Lagos state Governor also expressed confidence in the Buhari led administration’s ability to solve the challenges facing Nigerians.

The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has lashed out at the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachukwu, for his utterances over fuel scarcity.
Tinubu took a swipe at the Minister on Saturday, March 26, 2017 saying he has not only strayed but needs to guide his utterances as a public servant.
The Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation was also accused of straying away from the progressive calling required of the administration.
In a statement by Tinubu titled, ‘Kachikwu Needs to Know That Respect and Good Performance Will Do What Magic Cannot,’ he said, “I make no attempt to hide it. I am an avid and partisan supporter of this government and of the progressive policies of the party, the APC, upon which this government is based.”
‘With that, I do reserve the right and the duty as a Nigerian to voice my opinion when I believe a member of this government has strayed from the progressive calling required of this administration. I do this because my greater devotion and love are for this nation and its people. Party and politics fall secondary.
‘Much public ire has been drawn to the statement made by the Minister of State (for Petroleum Resources) Ibe Kachikwu that he was not trained as a magician and that basically Nigerians should count themselves fortunate that the NNPC under his stewardship has been able to bring in the amount of petrol it is currently doing.
‘Perhaps the statement by Kachikwu was made in a moment of unguarded frustration or was an awkward attempt at a joke. Whatever the motive, it was untimely and off-putting. The remark did not sit well with the Nigerian people; they were as right to feel insulted as the minister was wrong to have said such a thing.
‘The fuel shortage is severely biting for the average person. They are forced to remain in lines far too long — for too much time — to pay too much money for too little fuel. This is no joking matter. Livelihoods and people’s welfare are at stake.
‘With so much on the line, Kachikwu’s flippancy was out-of-line. He was basically telling Nigerians that they should be lucky that they are getting the inadequate supply they now suffer and that they should just be quiet and endure the shortage for several weeks more,’ the ex-governor stated.
Continuing, he said, ‘It insulted the people by its tonality. He spoke with the imperious nature of a member of the elitist government the people voted out last year and not the progressive one they voted in.
‘He is a public servant. The seat he sits upon is owned by Nigerians, not by him. The company he runs is owned by Nigerians, not by him. They are his boss. He is not theirs. Power is vested in the people. He is a mere custodian or agent of their will.
‘In talking to us in such a manner, he committed an act of insubordination. If he had talked so cavalierly to his boss in the private sector, he would have been reprimanded or worse. If wise, the man should refrain from such interjections in the future.
‘As his ultimate bosses, the people have a right to demand the requisite performance and respect from him. He should apologise for treating them so lightly in this instance.
‘Instead, he seems to be standing above them, telling them to take it or leave it,’ Tinubu added.
In conclusion, Tinubu said, ‘He must ask them to work with him and, perhaps, to endure a bit longer but with the knowledge that he is working to resolve this matter as fast as he can and as permanently as possible; that he is dedicated to the position that once these current lines are gone, never again shall they reappear, as long as he has any influence in the matter.
‘To do this requires no magic or training in that strange craft. It requires empathy, compassion and the willpower to forge a better Nigeria. These must be the common trademarks of those serving in a progressive government, for these attributes are integral parts of the spirit and ideals upon which the APC was founded,’ Tinubu said.
