Misappropriation of N345B: APC Chieftain Charges EFCC with Redoubling Efforts to Arrest Siminalaye Fubuara

…Tasks Rivers People to Use the 2023 Election to Sack the Very Corrupt PDP Administration

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwumeka Eze has described threats by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, that the Attorney General of the State, should set the court in motion against former Minister of Transportation, HE., Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and the Rivers APC Governorship Candidate, Pst. Tonye Cole over Alleged N76B lroceed from sale of Rivers Assets as a ploy carefully crafted by the Governor to divert attention and Conceal the Careless misappropriation of N345B and N20B over his elusive Presidential and VP Dreams

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike after swearing in three new commissioners ( Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Isaac Kamalu as Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and Dr. George-Kelly, Dakorinama Alabo as Commissioner for Works and Special Projects) few days ago directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, to commence diligent prosecution of the alleged illegal financial dealings involving the immediate past governor, Rotimi Amaechi, Mr. Tonye Cole, Sahara Energy, and others over the sale of state assets.

“The world will see how $50 million Dollar from our account was moved to a company without nothing to show whether there was a business,”

Showing how mischievous and confused Governor Nyesom WIKE can be on the same occasion stated, “Adangor you are hereby directed to write a strong-worded protest letter to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission over the harassment of State’s Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Siminalaye Fubara.Ghe protest letter to be written to EFCC, Wike said, was predicated on the fact that, recently, its officers attempted to harass and intimidate Fubara, who before his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate, had served as the Accountant General of Rivers State.

Wike explained that before now, the Rivers state government had gotten a subsisting court judgment against the EFCC that it cannot investigate the state finances or its officers.

“Rivers State government had a judgment against EFCC since 2007. The court said you (EFCC) have no business in the financial transactions of the (Rivers) State. EFCC has been struggling to set aside that judgement until now. They have not even appealed it,” Wike stated.

The governor noted that nobody will accept the use of EFCC in such political period to intimidate persons in order to achieve their skewed political goals.

Governor Nyesom Wike knowing that Rivers State government had a judgment against EFCC since 2007. The court said you (EFCC) have no business in the financial transactions of the (Rivers) State. EFCC has been struggling to set aside that judgement until now. They have not even appealed it,” but he Woke has the right to continue to embarrass and innocent and respectful sons of Rivers State because of his useless type of politics.

The issues he raised in which has since assuming office for the past seven years are the same issues he has used to embarrass his benefactor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi before his nomination as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I have addressed theseame issues in various fora and let me repeat myself again.

Eze highlighted that luckily the Supreme Court judgement has maintained that Judicial Commission set up by the Wike’s Administration lacked Powers to try Ameachi as the probe panel was a mere fact-finding commission and most importantly too, the said N96B was duly captured in the 2014 budget of the State.

According to the Supreme Court, the Rivers State commission of inquiry that indicted former governor Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi, is a mere fact-finding body with no powers to engage in the trial of anybody for anything whatsoever.

But Wike not relenting in his vendetta against a man who not for the grace of God in his life he wouldn’t be whatever he is claiming to be politically after failing and being rejected by the stakeholders and elders in his sinister motive still went ahead to direct his Attorney General to go ahead and pursue an issue he is fully aware is like chasing a shadow.

Nigerians are very much aware of Chief Nyesom Wike’s desperation to drag Amaechi’s name in the mud in order to continue to portray him as a corrupt person before the public

To begin with, Governor WIKE would have released Sim Fubara to the EFCC to explain how such whopping sums could be withdrawn on a single day instead, he iempowered supporters of the Rivers State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Sim Fubara to beat up officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) when the EFCC operatives attempted to arrest him when the chartered plane carrying him and other PDP members landed at the Omagwa Airport in Rivers State from Abuja.

“His plots against Amaechi and the Rivers APC is an exercise in futility. He will not allow EFCC to investigate the former Accountant General and his guber candidate but he is giving directives moronic AG to file a case against his predecessor even when there is a perpetual injunction gotten by Gov. Odili against probing the financial activities of Rivers State Government officials. Let’s see how the Judge to handle this matter will ignore this existing injunction.”

Eze postulated that WIKE shouldn’t use Amaechi to cover the massive looting of the Rivers State treasury and explain how he wasted a whopping sum of N20Bn in pursuance of his failed presidential bid and bow the report trending is that he has also spent undisclosed amount in millions of dollars to bribe a panel to choose him as a running mate for Atiku Abubakar”.

Eze joined Dr. Dakuku Peterside to ask Wike to explain the rationale of his donation of about N10bn of public funds in unsolicited charity to States, and about N20bn pursuing his ill-fated presidential bid.”

The Governor is grossly corrupt and has only succeeded in ruining all forms of governance as Rivers State was named amongst other States that couldn’t attract one single investment to the State.

For Rivers Guber: Accountant-general to be declared wanted for N345 billion fraud by EFCC to be declared the Flag-Bearer of PDP in the 2023 gubernatorial election is nothing for Wike to protect all that he has looted and if Rivers State and his people are to be quiet and allow such group to be sustain in their state in government then the State will be ruined.

Eze cited a report by the National Bureau of Statistics which showed that only Lagos, Oyo, Katsina, Anambra states, and the Federal Capital Territory attracted investment during the 1st quarter, regretting Rivers State under Wike has failed to attract a dime to the economy from investment.

According to the NBS’ Nigerian Capital Importation (Q1 2022), the total value of capital imported into Nigeria in the first quarter of 2022 stood at $1.6bn from $2.2bn in the preceding quarter, showing a decrease of 28.09 per cent.

…By destination of investment, Lagos State remained the top destination in Q1 with $1.1bn accounting for 71.16 per cent of total capital investment into Nigeria. This was followed by investment into Abuja (FCT), valued at $446.8m (28.40 per cent).

Anambra Oyo and Katsina states followed, with each raking in $4.1m, $2m and $700,000, respectively.

On the other hand, Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna and Kebbi states failed to attract any foreign investments during the period under review.

The party Chief lamented that the era of Wike as Governor will continue to be remembered as a watershed and monumental waste in the annals of governance in Rivers State and it will be of unblessed memory. He called on Rivers people to use the window of the 2023 election to correct every error of the past by electing Pst. Tonye Cole and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, to inject a new lease of life on the economy and other aspects of statecraft.

More secrets of Mr Peter Obi were unveiled – Edwin Chukwujekwu

0 1
Read Time:2 Minute, 56 Second

APGA cannot mourn the exit of Mr Peter Obi with all these secret findings surrounding him.

1. Those who knew Peter Obi will attest to the fact that he has been a drug dealer beginning from his days as an undergraduate at UNN. He was hardly attending lectures and only managed to graduate with a third class in Philosophy after spending 12 years at the University.

2. His brother-in-law, who incidentally is one of the hirelings used by him for his nefarious drug trafficking business, is currently languishing in jail far away from London. This is the major cause of strain between Obi and his in-laws. It is on record that his closeness to Dubem Obazie was because Dubem served a jail term for drug trafficking because of Peter.

3. Obi should explain his relationship with former Military Administrator, Governor Ibim Princewill and Col Earnest Kizito Attah of Cross River State whom he helped as a conduit to fleece Cross River State government thus contributing to the underdevelopment of the state.

4. Obi should explain to Ndi Anambra the circumstances of his father’s death, which remains his best-kept secret. Before then, we can reveal that Obi’s father was drowned to death by Obi’s associates in the drug trade whom he short-changed in a business deal, prompting the mafias to kill the old man whom they drowned bounded hands and feet with bricks around his neck.

5. Given the level of insecurity in Anambra state, ”Saint” Peter Obi should explain how he expends his security vote since it is on record that he collects over 470 million nairas per month as security vote (220 million nairas from Local Government and 250 million Naira from the state FAC accounts)

6. Just as Peter Obi professes his Catholicism for political expediency, we ask him to summon the moral courage and explain to the Catholic faithful his relationship with the Olumba Olumba Obu (OOO) Cult sect, where his wife is a known member. It is also on record that Peter Obi met his wife at a nightclub in Auchi. The lady had two children from two different men -an Albino and a Ghanaian. The affirmed Catholic is yet to wed his wife in the church.

7. Obi is yet to explain the mystery behind the 250 million nairas that was found in the possession of his aides. He is yet to produce the contractor and publish the contractual agreement that stipulates that this very contractor will be paid in cash and also a reference to any other known precedents. Not even the famous late Barkin Zuwo of Kano State paid contractors in cash.

8. Obi should explain why he has continued to loot the resources of the state using his brother, Ndibe Obi, Ejike Onwusogbulu and a certain Chidi Agbapu -a Lagos based stockbroker as a conduit for money laundering while the youths in Anambra remain unemployed;

9. Obi was elected governor on the platform of APGA, and it is on record that he never convened an APGA meeting, thereby destroying the entire party structure. Obi should explain to party faithful and loyalists why he destroyed the party;

10. Obi should explain to Ndi Anambra what happened to the state local government allocations and why Anambra under Obi is the only state in Nigeria without elected local government officers in place?
In view of the foregoing, we demand his immediate resignation or face further disclosure of his criminal past and present.

Alfa kills, shares friend’s body parts

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 34 Second

AN Alfa in the Badagry area of Lagos State, Fatai Afobaje, has been accused of conspiring with some security men in his area to kill his friend, Rafiu Suleiman.

Police sources said after the 40-year-old was dead, Afobaje, along with five others, shared his remains among themselves for ritual purposes.

It was gathered that what remained of the late Kwara State indigene was recovered by men of the Nigeria Police Force on Monday, after an intensive search.

The incident happened at Oko Agbonla, Magbon in the Badagry area.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Afobaje and Suleiman had been friends for a long time, and the deceased had given a lot of money to the suspect.

Afobaje was said to have conspired with the Chief Security Officer of the area, identified only as Tanko, to kill Suleiman on Friday.

Our correspondent learnt that apart from the corpse, the police also recovered a clay pot which contained the fingers of the deceased with a few naira notes.

A source said the two men had met in a commercial bus and became friends that lasted for years.

He said, “The two men met in a commercial bus. Suleiman had offered to pay the transport fare of Afobaje after the conductor was about embarrassing him because he had no change.

“The Alfa then said he would like to know him better for being so gracious to him (Alfa). So, Suleiman gave theAlfa his address and asked him to visit.

“That was how the friendship started. From what we found out, Suleiman, who worked as a crane operator, would collect his salary and give half of it to Alfa at the end of the month and that happened for a long time.”

The source, who added that investigation was still on, said Afobaje suddenly connived with his friends to kill Suleiman.

Another source said on Friday, last week, the victim was called by Alfa to come for a meeting around 8pm.

He said, “As soon as the victim got to the street’s gate, the security guards surrounded him and asked who he was looking for. When he told them, they flogged him with charms and he died.

“They then called the Alfa to come and when he arrived, they shared his body parts. While one collected his head, another demanded all his intestines, while another asked for his breasts, which were given out.”

Our correspondent learnt that when the victim’s boss did not find him, he made a call to his wife, who explained that she had yet to also see him.

His boss was said to have contacted policemen from the Morogbo division who then launched a search for him.

The deceased’s brother, Yinusa Wahab, told PUNCH Metro that the victim’s wife asked him to search Afobaje’s house, adding that the victim was there.

Wahab said, “We went to the house, but he was not around. We searched everywhere and didn’t see my brother. Later, we saw a mutilated corpse floating on a stream near the house. It was swollen and there was no head. The breast had been cut off.

“We went back to the house and as we looked around, I saw some fingers in a pot which were still being burnt and when I saw them, I could recognise that they belonged to my brother.”

The police were said to have apprehended the suspect, and he reportedly named the chief security officer as an accomplice.

Afobaje, when queried, owned up to the act, saying he divided the body with the other suspects.

He said, “He was on his way to my house when he was killed. When I got there, he had been killed and then we shared his body. I urge my accomplices to also confess because the act has been uncovered and there is nothing we can do about it.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The decomposing corpse of the victim has been recovered, while Alfa Fatai has been arrested.

“The matter has been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.”

Disturbing tales of rape, child trafficking in IDPs camps

0 0
Read Time:7 Minute, 18 Second

Call it a case of double tragedy, you will not be wrong. If disturbing reports from the camps of internally displaced persons located in parts of Northern Nigeria are anything to go by, then there is every reason to believe that these unfortunate Nigerians are in for more troubling times. Until situation and circumstance turned them to refugees in their own country, most of these people were living peacefully in their various communities and engaged in sundry means of survival. That was before the terrorist group, the Boko Haram, struck in their determined bid to overrun the North Eastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, ostensibly to impose extremist Islamic-style hegemony in these parts.

Following their displacement from their various communities, these victims of terrorists attacks were resettled in selected camps in the capitals of the affected states, including the Federal Capital, Abuja. But it will appear that in spite of relief materials pouring in from government and individual quarters, respite, indeed peace, may continue to elude them.

THE internally displaced persons, IDPs, camps have recently been in the news for the wrong, nay disturbing, reasons. Incidents of unwanted pregnancies, rape, child labour/trafficking and sexually transmitted diseases have begun to rear their ugly heads in the various camps that are their temporary homes. Only last week, five IDPs in some camps located in Maiduguri who were screened for malaria and HIV/AIDS by a non- governmental organisation, NGO – The Business and Professional Women, tested positive to HIV/AIDS.

*Displaced children scrambling for food at an IDPs camp in Maiduguri… How safe are they?

The leader of the NGO, Dr. Ismaila Watila, disclosed that most of the results showed ‘early infection’. The five IDPs, according to Dr Watila, were among the 1,000 persons who had so far come up to be   screened by the group. He regretted that many of the IDPs did not show up for the exercise. “We are conducting free screening for IDPs  in HIV, malaria and other disease conditions. The programme is being conducted by the Business and Professional Women in conjunction  with the National Agency for Control of Aids, NACA and the Sure- P,’’ he said.

Watila said that the exercise was aimed at finding out the health status of the IDPs with a view to preventing the spread of diseases among them.

“We started on Monday, February 2, 2015 and so far we have screened over 1,000 out of the 8,000 IDPs in  some of the camps. Out of these, only five have tested positive to HIV/AIDS. Statistically, the number appears insignificant as it represents just about 0.5 percent of those screened. But as a doctor, I see the number as alarming because it is a dangerous trend going by the happenings in the camps,’’ he said.

Watila disclosed that the affected IDPs had already been counseled and referred for treatment. “What we do usually is to treat those who tested positive to malaria and other diseases immediately. Those who tested positive to HIV/AIDS will be counselled and transferred to the State Specialist Hospital for proper medication,’’ he said.

He gave further reasons for the enlightenment programme. “We are conducting enlightenment campaigns for the IDPs on the need to maintain a healthy living. We also enlighten them on how to play safe. The whole thing is to reduce the prevalence of disease conditions in the camps,’’ he said. Watila said that the group decided to flag off the programme at the NYSC Camp because it is the largest IDP’s camp in Borno State.

“We started in the NYSC Camp because it is the largest out of the seven IDPs camps in Maiduguri. We are trying to ensure that the IDPs remain healthy, even after they return home,’’ he explained.

Mallam Idrissa Usman Izge who is an IDP from Gwoza Council Area Area, one of the councils taken over by the insurgents since August 2014, gave reasons why some inmates contracted the dreaded virus. Many IDPs have been infected with HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases because we don’t have money to buy condom and the state government refused to provide us with such. But what is giving us greater concern in the camps is the issue of rape. In most cases, women are the ones raping the men,” Izge stated.

IDPs in Adamawa not affected by scandal

Although there are reported cases of rape and sexually transmitted diseases in most of the camps, those overseeing the IDPs camps in Adamawa State have exonerated the camp from the said allegations.

Similarly, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA in Adamawa State has debunked media reports of child abuse and trafficking in camps located in the state.

The NEMA Coordinator in the North East, Alhaji Sa’ad Bello who oversees IDP camps in Adamawa State, insisted that such allegations are unfounded. Bello said his reaction became necessary because the report did not specify which of the six states in the North East where the crime is being carried out.

“Those of us here in Adamawa have not had any case of child abuse or child trafficking. However, we will not speak for other decamps, but in Adamawa there is no reported case of child abuse,” he said

Bello disclosed that the minors in the camps were under the firm control of their parents and guardians while the security agents are closely monitoring the movement of persons and vehicles in and around the camps.

NEMA constitutes panel to probe allegations

Displaced Chibok people in a camp in Kuje

Apparently jolted by the reports of rape, child trafficking and rising occurrence of sexually transmitted diseases, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Muhammad Sani-Sidi, has constituted a high powered investigative panel to look into allegations of rape and child trafficking in some internally displaced persons’ camps in the North East.

According to a statement issued from NEMA’s Senior Information Officer, Sani Datti, the panel, which is expected to complete its investigations within two weeks, is mandated to verify allegations by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting; interact with all stakeholders and carry out town hall meetings in all the camps mentioned in the allegation.

The panel is also expected to interact with the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, North East Zonal Office of NEMA, and State Emergency Management Agencies in the affected states as well as the Department of State Services, DSS, The Red Cross, Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police.

Members will also dialogue with IDPs and theirs leaders in the camps and other international players.

In the event that the allegations are true, the panel will determine if there is any culpability on the part of government agencies and to do any other thing which in its opinion, will facilitate the accomplishment of the assignment.

Membership of the committee were drawn from DSS, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Office of National Security Adviser, National Human Rights Commission, and National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic In Persons, Journalists Against Disaster Initiative and NEMA.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, International Organisation for Migration, SEMA Borno, SEMA Gombe and SEMA Adamawa are also members of the committee.

Abandoned by politicians

Meanwhile, as the electioneering campaigns gather more steam, IDPs in Dagba, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, have called on the government to hasten the resolution of the issues that led to the upsurge in the incidents of insurgency in the country.

The refugees, who said they are desirous of returning to their fatherlands, noted that their plight in the camps have become unbearable. They alleged that apart from NEMA, other agencies of government have remained insensitive to their plight. They claimed that they have been living under the mercy of God with no hope where to get their next meal.

One of the IDPs, who identified himself as Habib Wazari, alleged that promises of providing basic amenities to them, have not been fulfilled. According to him, NEMA visited them in December 2014 and pledged to cater for the children and take the pregnant women to hospitals. But till date, the promise has not been met.

Another IDP, Hajayi Mohammed, regretted that the men in the camp now take up odd jobs in a bid to raise little money to feed their families. She called on the government to beef up security in the camps because some young men come from the neighbourhood to harass and try to rape them in the camp.

Rapists on rampage: Shocking stories of how minors have become endangered in Plateau

0 0
Read Time:5 Minute, 57 Second

AS you approach her, she averts eye contact, preferring to look at the ground; call her name, she nods her head without saying a word. She is equally not forthcoming when you try to engage her in a conversation. Yet this is a girl who was said to be outgoing and playful before her most recent traumatic experience.

But after much prodding by Vanguard Features, VF, 13-year-old Sadia (not real name) and a primary five pupil of a private school in Jos, the Plateau State capital, was able to tell her story, albeit amidst tears.

Residents in shock

A middle aged man was caught defiling her at about 7am on the fateful day of October 12, 2014. It was an ugly incident that has since turned her life upside down and left residents in the neighbourhood reeling in shock.

She said it was not the first time the man raped her, adding that she had before this time allowed him to have his way because he gave her money to meet her urgent need, which is food. So their being caught in the act, booed and sniggered at by a curious crowd of residents, was a “shame too much” for her bear.

Narrating her ordeal, she said: “Papa Emeka always sent me to buy things for him and he would leave the change with me. One day, he asked me if I had started seeing my menses and I asked him what that means, but he said I should forget it. Another day, he called and told me to enter his room and clean it. As I entered, he came in, pushed me on the bed and held my mouth. I was scared but he was pleading with me not to shout that he wants me to start seeing my menses.

“As he was trying to rape me, I bit him and he left me alone. Because he locked the door, I could not go out, so he started begging me not to tell anyone and he gave me N500. I did not tell anyone because I was confused and I was scared of telling my stepmother because she would beat me.

“After many weeks, he asked me to buy a bottle of soft drink for him. When I went in to give him the drink, he poured it inside a cup for me. After drinking it, I started feeling tired and had to lie on the floor. I did not know what happened thereafter, but when I woke up, he said I should go before my stepmother would start looking for me. I was feeling pains and did not know anything but I could not tell anyone.”

Sadia added: “About five days later, he called me, put me on his leg and started touching my body. He asked me if I told anyone that I slept in his house, and I said no. Though I was scared, I could not tell anyone because immediately he finished, he gave me N500 and said I should go home and have my bath. Since I did not eat, I used the money and bought food at the roadside.”

However, luck ran out on the randy man on the third day (October 12, 2014) when he called the girl at about 6.30am not knowing that the stepmother was yet to leave the house and suspicious neighbours took note when the girl entered his apartment.

While the stepmother was looking for the girl, a neighbour knocked at the randy man’s door, opened it and caught him in the act. She drew the attention of others but before the culprit could be apprehended, he escaped through the back door and the poor girl had to face the shame of neighbours openly reprimanding her.

Ever since the incident, she keeps to herself, plays with no one and endures the trauma of daily scolding from her stepmother. She confessed she felt like dying as she knows people are yet to forget the incident and are talking behind her back.

Long list of girls raped, traumatised

But unknown to Sadia, she is one in a long list of young girls who have been raped in recent time. On September 13, 2014, in Mangu Local Government Area, another minor, eight years old Nankling (not real name), a primary two pupil, was defiled by a teenager at Mangu Halle. On the same day, a 10- year-old girl in Mararaba Pushit was raped by a married man who has two children. At Jakatai, a nine- year-old was raped on September 22, 2014 by a 38-year-old father of four.

Telling the story to VF, the mother of the eight-year-old victim, Mama Nankling, said she is yet to overcome the trauma of having her daughter being defiled in that manner. She added she never imagined the neighbour could be so wicked to do such to her baby.

According to her: “He always came around here to play with my children. One day, he took this girl to one uncompleted building in our area and started sleeping with her. I did not see my daughter around so I thought she was playing in the neighbourhood, but she came home, limping and crying. When I asked what happened, she told me what Aminu did to her. When we got to his house and he confirmed he did it, we got him arrested. He is there with the Police and they had charged him to court. No matter the result of the judgement, I will still be sad that this happened to me and I feel guilty that I did not do enough to keep my child from harm’s way.”

At Kwata, Zawan in Jos South Local Government Area, a 17-year-old girl was on July 7, 2014 raped by a neighbour who also threatened to kill her if she told anyone. There was also another case at Barkin Ladi where a security personnel attached to the Special Task Force, STF, raped a four-year-old girl in the neighbourhood. Though the randy Mobile policeman had been dismissed by the Police authorities and charged to court, the parents of the girl still lament the situation.

Relationship with victims

Within three weeks in November 2014, three different incidences occurred at Corner Shagari area of Jos North. First, a teenage girl was raped by six men and then at Tudun Wada in the same local government, a three-year old was raped by a middle aged man. At Bukuru in Jos South, a five year old girl was raped by a man in his 30s.

The case is not different in other areas like Kanam and Qua’an Pan where VF investigations reveal that rape of minor is on the increase across the religious divides in the local government areas. It was also established that most of the assailants had some form of relationship with the victims and this, most times, hinders the cases from being reported.

To be continued
