The United Nations’ 2022 World Mental Health Day: A Call for Proactive Action

As the world marks the World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2022, the National Association of Seadogs – Pyrates Confraternity has expressed concern that this year’s event does not end up as “mere ritual for speech making and grand declarations that fail to speak to the issues. We therefore use this to call on the relevant stakeholders to ensure that concrete steps that will frontally address the issue are taken.”

The association said as a country presented with another opportunity to focus on and address an issue that has continued to be a source of concern, noted that mental illness has evolved into what behavioural scientists call a phenomenon and the data is such that if we continue to ignore it, we do so at our collective peril.

This year’s event, according to the group, has the theme: Make Mental Health and Wellbeing for All A Global Priority is important as it seeks to draw attention to the issues relating to mental health.

Mental wellness according to the WHO is “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.”

Mental ill-health has grown into a global menace; a report from The Adracare Team states that 1 out of 5 Americans, aged 18 and above, live with mental illness. However, more alarming is the statistics released in a 2019 report of the World Health Organization, (WHO) which reveals that one in four Nigerians – some 50 million people are suffering from some sort of mental illness. Even more worrisome is the fact that the same report states that the country is nowhere near equipped to tackle the problem. Instances of suicide which most often is precipitated by mental illness have been burgeoning of late. There have been several cases of individuals that jumped to their death on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in what we may preliminarily categorize as anomic suicide.

A statement by Olamide Oni Capoon, Sahara Deck, National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates’ Confraternity), Abuja City Centre said, “while we recognize that there is a multiplicity of factors that may predispose to mental illness, some of the most common in our shores are: use of recreational drugs, poverty, traumatic experience – especially common among those unfortunate enough to have been at the receiving end of the horrors of boko-haram insurgency, kidnap victims and genetic factors, poor medical and professional care, cultural practices, superstition, and social stigma. Poor medical and professional care, certain cultural practices, superstition, and social stigma are also among the factors that tend to exacerbate mental ill-health. Families of mentally ill persons keep them in hiding, more concerned about the social standing that seeks medical care for them. There is also a dearth of specialized medical institutions and certified psychiatrists in the country. Some communities and cultures see mental illness as a curse, and therefore believe the cure is in exorcisms and other spiritual means.”

Text of the statement further read: “As members of the National Association of Seadogs – Pyrates Confraternity, we believe firmly in a just and equitable society where everyone is as much as possible, exposed to equal life’s chances. We, therefore, use this to call on the relevant agencies of government and other stakeholders to use this opportunity to formulate policies that speak to the very heart of the issues, repeal the old legislations on the subject while passing new laws with input from the critical stakeholders. When there is a well formulated policy in place, then there can be appropriations at new budget cycles wherein the government can fund the establishment of institutional structures that address the peculiar problem. Specialized hospitals can be sited at the various urban centers and certified mental health personnel trained. Preventive measures such as fighting the menace of drug abuse especially among the youths, improving the general quality of life through a robust and growing economy are some of the preventive measures that can also be applied.”

In commemoration of this year’s “World Mental Health Day”; the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), Sahara Deck – Abuja City Centre, has concluded plans to donate drugs to patients at the Behavioral Home in Karu, Abuja. The group will also embark on a 7-kilometer morning walk to sensitize members of the public on the need to take mental health seriously, in line with this year’s theme: “Make mental health and wellbeing for all; a global priority”.

“According to the latest United Nations data, nearly one billion people worldwide suffer from some form of mental disorder, and one in seven teenagers are affected. In Nigeria, over 60 million people suffer from mental illnesses, according to the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria (APN). Despite the huge number of people affected globally, mental disorders are widely under-reported in the media, a situation that forces the issue to the background, in global health discourse.

“Therefore, to draw more attention to this global menace, NAS Sahara Deck invites members of the public to participate in its health walk, slated for Monday, October 10. The Capoon of National Association of Seadogs, Sahara Deck, Olamide Oni, called on governments at all levels to prioritize reducing the factors that predispose people to mental illness and improving conditions that people need to thrive. Later in the month, the deck will also be having a public lecture on mental health; where experts in the field will be invited to x-ray issues as it concerns mental health.”

SPEECH DELIVERED BY RT HON YAKUBU DOGARA, GUEST SPEAKER AT THE APC NORTHERN CHRISTIAN LEADERS SUMMIT, ABUJA 2022 ON THE THEME, “RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE”, HELD ON FRIDAY 29TH JULY, 2022 AT THE NICON LUXURY HOTEL, ABUJA
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34
Protocols:
1. I consider it great honour and privilege to be invited as the Guest Speaker at this all-important August summit of eminent religious leaders and top-notch politicians from across all the States of the Federation. Permit me to start by profusely thanking all those involved in putting together this summit and all the delegates who have sacrificed time and their busy schedule in order to honour us with their presence, which we do not lightly esteem. I understand we are here to talk about our nation and how political choices may impact our faith and likely exacerbate the escalating parlous security situation and stymie our match towards an inclusive, peaceful and prosperous nation.
2. Not a few have expressed concerns about national outlook on all presidential tickets. Also, not a few worry that the debate was becoming corrosive, and of course, with this kind of spitting of bilious views into the political wind, there was bound to be lots of nerves in the air.
3. When we talk about a Muslim-Muslim ticket; God forbid that we should be understood to be objecting to Muslims or that we don’t want Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to be president. It is not about Senator Kashim Shettima either, but it about what is right and what is wrong. It is about justice, fairness and equity. It is about Nigeria; it’s diversity and how it can be harnessed in an inclusive manner for the greater good of all of us. Be that as it may, some of us really wanted Asiwaju to be president because he has sacrificed much for our Party, the APC and for what he represents to so many people. So, our position cannot be against Muslims or Islam. That fact cannot be denied in any way.
4. But when it comes to choosing between the love and admiration I have for an individual and what is right and what I believe represents my vision for Nigeria, my choice will clearly be for the latter. After all, my rise to the position of Speaker was never going to be possible without the support of some Muslim members who believe that our diversity must be reflected in national positions for the unity, peace and advancement of our dear country. What gives me more hope about the Nigeria project is that there are many of our Muslim brothers and leaders who did not only warn the APC, but have had to call out the APC for adopting a Muslim-Muslim ticket which resulted into the Party ructions we are witnessing today.
5. In 2015, when we were called “janjeweed party”, my response was usually very simple. I could then say that, HE John Oyegun was the chairman of my party and my Vice-Presidential candidate was Pastor Yemi Osinbajo. We don’t enjoy that luxury anymore as the President, Senate President, Speaker and his deputy; Senate and House Leaders; National Chairman and the Deputy National Chairman; Presidential and the Vice-Presidential candidates are all Muslims, leaving the Christians with just the position of VP Osibanjo and Deputy Senate President Omo-Agege at that level in a Country whose population is fairly split between Muslims and Christians. Granted this scenario, can any God-fearing Muslim, Christian nay even the amoral and the atheist say this is fair, just and righteous? Does this represent the act of a just God? This is the real context of objections from the Christian community not just the Presidential ticket and the VP slot.
6. For me, it is a rude awakening and I am so happy it happened sooner than later. The very fact that they said we should not worry about a Muslim-Muslim ticket while a Muslim-Christian ticket gave them sleepless nights should make you worry the more. To worry about a Muslim-Christian ticket while counselling others not to worry about a Muslim-Muslim ticket is the very textbook definition of cognitive dissonance and an attempt at gaslighting gullible Christians. Truth must be told that anyone who is not bringing us together is consciously tearing us apart.
7. Furthermore, I do not want to speak to the argument that there is no Christian competent enough to be Vice-President because as we all know, that is hogwash. It only speaks to the need to deliberately exclude – whereas the need now is for inclusion.
8. The other funny argument in the media is the claim that without a northern Muslim on the ticket, elections cannot be won. The implications of that argument are quite unambiguous; Northern Muslims don’t vote for the South – even if the candidate is a Muslim like them – and, of course, don’t vote for Christians. However, nothing can be further from the truth. If you stretch this argument further, it may lead to questions such as, “if Muslims in the North don’t trust a southern Muslim for any reason(s), why should Christians in Nigeria trust a Muslim from the South and North?” These are the kinds of arguments I hate to engage in and which we must avoid if we hope not to injure the health of our Republic.
9. Other unhelpful framings of the debate by the so-called pundits posits that Christians in the North are so small in number that their votes don’t count. This strange argument seeks to reinforce the satanic agenda of dividing the church in Nigeria into North and South, and also ignores the fact and reality that Nigeria is evenly split on religious lines. These pundits are still not smart enough to tell us what is in the Muslim-Muslim ticket for southern Christians. The argument also ignores the fact that our official policy excludes religious affiliation from census data. There is therefore no scientific basis for these bizarre conclusions. Let us now look at a model for managing diversity.
10. If the UK offers any example, in 2005, the Tories had only two non-White MPs. Just within over a decade, this has changed dramatically – all the way to the top ranks of the party, including the last three chancellors of the exchequer in a row: Javid, Sunak and Zahawi. In addition, Patel was home secretary; Javid – health secretary; Kwasi – business secretary and; Zahawi – education secretary.
11. Before the pruning down of candidates for the Conservative Party leadership to two; six of the candidates were members of ethnic minorities. Braverman, Sunak and Javid are the children of immigrants while Chisti and Zahawi were born outside of the UK: in Pakistan and Iraq respectively; and our own Kemi was partly brought up in Lagos. All these happened in the conservative UK where the entire population of minority ethnic group is a paltry 14% – thanks to David Cameron under whose leadership the Tories embraced the idea of “sponsored mobility” which was thought to be good for the country because it will help prevent politics from polarizing along racial lines.
12. As we speak, the UK may well be on the verge of becoming the second major Western democracy to have a non-White leader in Sunak. Sunak who took the oath of office as Chancellor with his hand on the Bhagavad Gita and placed Diwali candles on the steps of his office on Number 11 Downing Street, shares the same faith with just 1.03 million Britons representing just 1.6% of the U.K’s total population. This is how democracies all over the world are managing diversities within their borders. Compare this to the US under Trump where the Republican Party was and is still in danger of becoming the party of White grievances and White reaction against an increasingly diverse America. Is it in vain that the Democrats had to settle for a woman and a black VP in Kamala Harris? Women issues are treated as minority issues and what percentage of US population is black? Just 13.4% in case you don’t know. In these two, we have two models to borrow from; either to play the politics of exclusion which the Muslim-Muslim ticket represents or to make politics all-inclusive in order to heal our national fault lines and unite our disparate peoples for nation building. The latter must be the choice of every patriotic and sensible Nigerian.
13. Why do I consider the decision by the APC to settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket not a bold but bad decision? There are ample reasons but I will highlight a few for want of time and space.
a) It is a bad decision because it fuels inequality. We must always bear in mind that the liberty we enjoy is as rare as it is fragile. Inequality has a way of upsetting the balance due to the universal law of cause and effect. Throughout history, every revolution has been waged to either consolidate or destroy inequality. Just like all revolutions, they first seem impossible and then improbable until they become inevitable.
i) When you think of revolutions, what comes to your mind? Is it the pictures of savage invasions, crushing battlefield defeats, sacked cities and unlucky rulers put to death or a cascading series of minor, individually unimportant failures which are now replete in our polity? You may not understand the structure of revolutions until you trace the progression of the Nazis from an unpopular fringe group to the most powerful political party in Germany. Those who are dismissive of those who built conflict generating structures such as the Muslim-Muslim ticket in a pluralistic society always end up as enablers of revolution or violent changes. That was how Nazism was dismissed as a fringe idea that will never make it into the mainstream of civilized Germany until it led to the death of an estimated 40 million people.
b) It is a bad decision because it breads division which is counter-productive to our collective aspirations for a united and prosperous nation. My last check reveals that the word division is a construct of the word “vision” with a prefix “di” which means double in Latin. Just imagine what double vision does to an individual, much more a Nation. Our national creed or motto if you like, is unity and faith, peace and progress. Embedded in this great idea is the fact that unity precedes peace and progress. The question therefore is, how do we unite our disparate peoples in a manner that ensures peace and progress? This is not the only question, it is every question.
i) Of course, our strength is not in numbers but unity. You are not strong because you are many, you are strong because you are united. Nigeria cannot survive if we merely tolerate each other or if the happiness of one group is the unhappiness of the other group. But if we are united, we will be indomitable. And if all of us: Muslims, Christians, atheists, the old, the young, women and men work together and pray together in unity: believe me; we will be invincible. On the corollary, many are the Nations and Empires that could not withstand divisions.
ii) The largest construction project ever on earth – the erection of the Tower of Babel came to an abrupt halt due to divisions. The almost 3200 years long recorded history of the Egyptian empire collapsed due to divisions when Cleopatra the last Pharaoh killed her brother Ptolemy the 13th who was a joint heir to the throne and married another of her brother, Ptolemy the 14th before she had him also killed so that her son can succeed her as the pharaoh. The all-powerful Roman Empire just like the British Empire after it, decayed and died not on account of invading armies but just because they could not withstand the contradictions within. Need we say more about Yugoslavia and the USSR?
iii) The US too is currently struggling and if they don’t invent ingenious ways to heal divisions, the US dominance, just like all the other empires before, might soon become history. If we think we can encourage divisions in the scale we are witnessing and not see what those Empires and Nations saw, then we are of all men and women most miserable.
c) In addition, the inability to distinguish the Nigeria of 1993 from 2022 gave me cause to fret the more. An indispensable attribute of a leader in crisis is to be able to recognize a departure of events from routine to novel. The inability to spot an infliction point in moments of gripping visceral fear across the nation represents an irredeemable fatal error of judgment. There has never been a time in our history that we are as divided. We are battling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, secessionists and all manner of challenges.
Consequently, anyone who thinks that events in Nigeria in 2022 are not novel but routine as they were in 1993 is totally incapable of finding solutions to challenges currently ravaging our dear nation.
14. As for the nodding dogs who have sold themselves to lying spirits by deliberately believing in lies or are refusing to accept the truth, rebuke them in love. We may, after all, be dealing with fallen angels. We must never forget that every generation has its own Jannes and Jambres who withstood Moses; its prophets of Baal who withstood Elijah; its Sanballats and Tobiahs who withstood Nehemiah; it’s Esaus whose profanity will drive them to sell their birth rights; its Gehazis who will surrender to seducing spirits in order to feed their greed; its Hamans who will plot to annihilate Gods people: the list goes on. On this class of people, the scripture has already placed a curse, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20. But just as those they withstood overcame, we will also overcome if we faint not.
15. The harder they try to make us bow to the golden image of greed, the more we should chant to their chagrin the answer given by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego – who said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up”.
16. In closing, let me reiterate the fact that we are here to talk about what is right and what is wrong. To my mind what is right is not just to win elections but to unite Nigerians both now and after the elections so that we can collectively build a Nigeria that works for all regardless of creed. As President Obama warned, “if you have to win a campaign by dividing people, you are not going to be able to govern them. You won’t be able to unite them later” This is spot-on because anyone who wins an election by dividing us would have to keep us divided in order to govern us. This is not what any reasonable and peace-loving Nigerian wants.
17. As long as God remains the God of justice, may we continue to resist injustice to our sinews, no matter who is for or against it because it is the requirement of the just God. Let us go out from this summit with the resolve to seek out our Muslim brothers and sisters who believe in unifying our people in order to usher in the much need peace and advancement for Nigeria to unleash her true potentials. I am sure we will jointly agree on a platform that would advance our collective search for unity, peace and development. Believe me, the only alternative is the road to Yugoslavia. God forbid! If we want to see Nigeria exalted, we must insist she does the right things.
18. Thank you for listening. God bless you and may God bless Nigeria.

Read Time:20 Minute, 9 Second

Dear friend,

If you want a 100% natural treatment, that naturally fight diabetes, normalizes blood sugar and reverses type 2 diabetes without depending on prescription drugs or insulin injections, then this short message will show you how.

Here’s the full details:

Within few weeks, I was able to slash 80points from my fast rising blood sugar, using a special “Diabetes Reversal Remedy” that saved me from amputations, constant fear, anxiety and pain due to my type 2 diabetes.

The diabetes breakthrough you are about to discover on this page is twice as effective as the leading type 2 drug at normalizing blood sugar, fixing insulin resistance, stopping neuropathy pain, preventing blindness, amputations and other diabetes problems.

The herbal remedy have been used successfully by over 2,300 Nigerian men and women, and it have helped type 2 diabetics eliminate the need for drugs and insulin injections while helping type ones greatly reduce their drug and injection dosages.

Without wasting time, here’s the full story: My name is Mrs. Mary, and for several years, I was battling with type 2 diabetes.

For these 7 years, I always had to worry about which foods would spike my blood sugar, so I was always cautious about the foods I eat.

But aside that my normal daily routine was that:

– I had to prick my fingers with painful and expensive lancets…
– I was constantly anxious and stressed about maintaining my weight, and tracking my blood sugar…
– I spent quite some good amount of money on insulin every month.

It all got worse one day, when I collapsed in the towers of the ministry where I worked as a public servant in Abuja.

It was like a shock to every one of our colleagues. I was rushed to the hospital, and our doctor confirmed that my type 2 diabetes has gotten to a critical stage, that I was at risk of being amputated.

I can still recall the tears in the eyes of my children, and the grief my husband felt when he heard the news that my type 2 diabetes has deteriorated my health, and I could be amputated within few months.

After I was discharged from the hospital, I decided to start searching for an alternative cure that could help reverse my type 2 diabetes or at least improved my health a little.

If you are tired of being lied to and you are ready to finally learn the truth about this disease and find out how tens of thousands of type 2 diabetics completely reversed their diabetes, normalized their blood sugar and were taken off all medication and injections, then read on.

During several month of research in getting a natural treatment for my type 2 diabetes, I came in contact with an old time friend, who was also a health consultant.

He recommended a herbal remedy that have been used by over 2,300 Nigerian men and women to reverse their type 2 diabetes and normalize their blood sugar level after completing their therapy.

He assured me that the herbal supplements were NAFDAC Approved, have no side effects and works effectively to reverse type 2 diabetes in the shortest time possible.

At first, I was skeptical after spending so much on drugs and medications.

But my husband advised we give it a trial. I started using them, 2 capsules morning and 2 capsules in evening before meals. Also, I drank the herbal tea that came with it 1 tea bag morning and evening.

In few weeks of using it, I noticed my blood sugar level became normal, and I didn’t need any insulin injections.

The herbal supplements helped me boost my metabolism and made my Diabetes never come back.

To ensure I had really breakthrough from type 2 diabetes, I schedule an appointment with my Doctor, for another test before the surgery.

When the test results came out, he was surprised at the results he got. My blood sugar level was very low. He asked me if I changed my diet or what exactly did I do to reverse my serious case of type 2 diabetes.

I explained to him how I came about the herbal remedy which I will show you in few minutes.

From then on, he decided to recommend this diabetes destroyer supplements to every one of his diabetic patients with a severe case.

The joy of my husband, I and the kids knew bounds. It was like a miracle.

My type 2 diabetes had disappeared, I no longer had to worry about the kinds of foods I ate, or having to bear the pains of sticking myself with insulin needles. I no longer felt tired easily, or worried about being a burden to my family.

Of course, we were very happy… but we decided to do something special that could save the life of thousands of people suffering from diabetes.

We decided to tell as much friends, families and church members about our new discovery that reverses diabetes and normalize blood sugar/glucose level.

Everyone of them that we shared our discovery with came back and were marveled at the results they got, they were able to defeat diabetes using this natural herbal remedy.

5 out of 5 came back happily about how it reverse their type 2 diabetes, restored their blood sugar levels to normal, and they gladly recommended it to their relatives as well.

SO HOW MUCH IS THE DIABETES REMEDY KIT?

Let me ask you… what’s something like this worth?

What would you give to have your life back again, without the fear and pain of diabetes?

To know that you’ll never have to stick yourself with a lancelet ever again?

To be able to stop injecting yourself full of synthetic insulin?

To never again have to worry about going blind, or kidney failure, or having a heart attack with no one around to save you?

To finally stop taking all those ridiculously expensive diabetes drugs that don’t even work?

Video: Mr. Peter Obi(Con)’s Philosophy of Public Service Is Quintessentially Cerebral

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 9 Second

Even if the rest of Nigeria gangs up and stops him (which will be a plus and a further justification for Igbo nationalism and the wider Biafran project), the reality is that Mr Peter Obi’s (CON)’s practical economic management/management economics model both at micro and macro levels is a unique one that is driven home to all.

Furthermore, it not only transcends culture, religion or political view/inclination/affiliation but also a template(if implemented) that the developing world/developing economies need; and in fact, for humanity to learn and consolidate on.

Conversely, this practical economic management activism approach of his for the revival of dashed hopes is one for which an institution is ripe and befitting. His is an economic movement for generations and must not be allowed to die.

The enthusiasm, the zeal, the resilience, and the seemingly insatiable desire of the youths across the board for societal change and better living standards must are unprecedented and should be sustained.
Finally, Mr. Obi(CON), you must more importantly begin to look inwards—–going closer home to help develop our land if they succeed in their gang-up because the conspiracy is swelling. The same goes to other politicians of Biafra extraction serving Nigeria.

Read Time:1 Minute, 41 Second

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have denounced the purported arrest and wrongful incarceration of Igbo people in Kenji, Niger State’s Wawa military base, which they claim was carried out on the Federal Government of Nigeria’s orders.

The separatist group appealed to the world community for support in gaining the release of these Igbo persons who had been wrongfully detained and incarcerated.

These were disclosed by IPOB on Thursday in a statement by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful.

The statement partly reads, “We the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU wish to condemn the continued and unlawful detention of Igbo youths, fathers and mothers in Imo State, Anambra State, Enugu State, Abia state and Ebonyi State detention facilities in the North more especially in Wawa military barracks at Kenji (Kainji) Niger State.

“We appeal to the International community to prevail on Nigeria Government and its security agents to discharge all the Igbo people unlawfully arrested without trial from the above mentioned States, because this act is a pure “human rights violation of a particular race” “racial profiling, violation of freedom of worship, discrimination and persecution”.

“IPOB now watches with keen interest going forward on discriminatory treatment and crimes against Biafrans and Igbos in particular. We are everywhere and our eyes and ears are everywhere as well. Igbos are  the most law abiding race within our space, we are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters that has high regard for lives, therefore, we warn the Nigerian Armed forces and Police to desist from killing Igbos untimely otherwise it will bounce back to them harshly.

“The Biafra restoration project has crossed the Rubicon and can no longer be stopped and it would be achieved in no distant time.

“Nigeria military should dignify themselves by releasing the Igbos under incarceration in various confinement facilities including those in Wawa military detention center in Niger State and other Northern states Nigeria.”

Misappropriation of N345B: APC Chieftain Charges EFCC with Redoubling Efforts to Arrest Siminalaye Fubuara

0 0
Read Time:7 Minute, 6 Second

…Tasks Rivers People to Use the 2023 Election to Sack the Very Corrupt PDP Administration

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwumeka Eze has described threats by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, that the Attorney General of the State, should set the court in motion against former Minister of Transportation, HE., Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and the Rivers APC Governorship Candidate, Pst. Tonye Cole over Alleged N76B lroceed from sale of Rivers Assets as a ploy carefully crafted by the Governor to divert attention and Conceal the Careless misappropriation of N345B and N20B over his elusive Presidential and VP Dreams

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike after swearing in three new commissioners ( Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Isaac Kamalu as Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and Dr. George-Kelly, Dakorinama Alabo as Commissioner for Works and Special Projects) few days ago directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, to commence diligent prosecution of the alleged illegal financial dealings involving the immediate past governor, Rotimi Amaechi, Mr. Tonye Cole, Sahara Energy, and others over the sale of state assets.

“The world will see how $50 million Dollar from our account was moved to a company without nothing to show whether there was a business,”

Showing how mischievous and confused Governor Nyesom WIKE can be on the same occasion stated, “Adangor you are hereby directed to write a strong-worded protest letter to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission over the harassment of State’s Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Siminalaye Fubara.Ghe protest letter to be written to EFCC, Wike said, was predicated on the fact that, recently, its officers attempted to harass and intimidate Fubara, who before his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate, had served as the Accountant General of Rivers State.

Wike explained that before now, the Rivers state government had gotten a subsisting court judgment against the EFCC that it cannot investigate the state finances or its officers.

“Rivers State government had a judgment against EFCC since 2007. The court said you (EFCC) have no business in the financial transactions of the (Rivers) State. EFCC has been struggling to set aside that judgement until now. They have not even appealed it,” Wike stated.

The governor noted that nobody will accept the use of EFCC in such political period to intimidate persons in order to achieve their skewed political goals.

Governor Nyesom Wike knowing that Rivers State government had a judgment against EFCC since 2007. The court said you (EFCC) have no business in the financial transactions of the (Rivers) State. EFCC has been struggling to set aside that judgement until now. They have not even appealed it,” but he Woke has the right to continue to embarrass and innocent and respectful sons of Rivers State because of his useless type of politics.

The issues he raised in which has since assuming office for the past seven years are the same issues he has used to embarrass his benefactor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi before his nomination as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I have addressed theseame issues in various fora and let me repeat myself again.

Eze highlighted that luckily the Supreme Court judgement has maintained that Judicial Commission set up by the Wike’s Administration lacked Powers to try Ameachi as the probe panel was a mere fact-finding commission and most importantly too, the said N96B was duly captured in the 2014 budget of the State.

According to the Supreme Court, the Rivers State commission of inquiry that indicted former governor Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi, is a mere fact-finding body with no powers to engage in the trial of anybody for anything whatsoever.

But Wike not relenting in his vendetta against a man who not for the grace of God in his life he wouldn’t be whatever he is claiming to be politically after failing and being rejected by the stakeholders and elders in his sinister motive still went ahead to direct his Attorney General to go ahead and pursue an issue he is fully aware is like chasing a shadow.

Nigerians are very much aware of Chief Nyesom Wike’s desperation to drag Amaechi’s name in the mud in order to continue to portray him as a corrupt person before the public

To begin with, Governor WIKE would have released Sim Fubara to the EFCC to explain how such whopping sums could be withdrawn on a single day instead, he iempowered supporters of the Rivers State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Sim Fubara to beat up officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) when the EFCC operatives attempted to arrest him when the chartered plane carrying him and other PDP members landed at the Omagwa Airport in Rivers State from Abuja.

“His plots against Amaechi and the Rivers APC is an exercise in futility. He will not allow EFCC to investigate the former Accountant General and his guber candidate but he is giving directives moronic AG to file a case against his predecessor even when there is a perpetual injunction gotten by Gov. Odili against probing the financial activities of Rivers State Government officials. Let’s see how the Judge to handle this matter will ignore this existing injunction.”

Eze postulated that WIKE shouldn’t use Amaechi to cover the massive looting of the Rivers State treasury and explain how he wasted a whopping sum of N20Bn in pursuance of his failed presidential bid and bow the report trending is that he has also spent undisclosed amount in millions of dollars to bribe a panel to choose him as a running mate for Atiku Abubakar”.

Eze joined Dr. Dakuku Peterside to ask Wike to explain the rationale of his donation of about N10bn of public funds in unsolicited charity to States, and about N20bn pursuing his ill-fated presidential bid.”

The Governor is grossly corrupt and has only succeeded in ruining all forms of governance as Rivers State was named amongst other States that couldn’t attract one single investment to the State.

For Rivers Guber: Accountant-general to be declared wanted for N345 billion fraud by EFCC to be declared the Flag-Bearer of PDP in the 2023 gubernatorial election is nothing for Wike to protect all that he has looted and if Rivers State and his people are to be quiet and allow such group to be sustain in their state in government then the State will be ruined.

Eze cited a report by the National Bureau of Statistics which showed that only Lagos, Oyo, Katsina, Anambra states, and the Federal Capital Territory attracted investment during the 1st quarter, regretting Rivers State under Wike has failed to attract a dime to the economy from investment.

According to the NBS’ Nigerian Capital Importation (Q1 2022), the total value of capital imported into Nigeria in the first quarter of 2022 stood at $1.6bn from $2.2bn in the preceding quarter, showing a decrease of 28.09 per cent.

…By destination of investment, Lagos State remained the top destination in Q1 with $1.1bn accounting for 71.16 per cent of total capital investment into Nigeria. This was followed by investment into Abuja (FCT), valued at $446.8m (28.40 per cent).

Anambra Oyo and Katsina states followed, with each raking in $4.1m, $2m and $700,000, respectively.

On the other hand, Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna and Kebbi states failed to attract any foreign investments during the period under review.

The party Chief lamented that the era of Wike as Governor will continue to be remembered as a watershed and monumental waste in the annals of governance in Rivers State and it will be of unblessed memory. He called on Rivers people to use the window of the 2023 election to correct every error of the past by electing Pst. Tonye Cole and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, to inject a new lease of life on the economy and other aspects of statecraft.

Ends

Signed

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze,

APC Chieftain, member of APC Legacy Projects Media Team & former National Publicity Secretary, nPDP

More secrets of Mr Peter Obi were unveiled – Edwin Chukwujekwu

0 1
Read Time:2 Minute, 56 Second

APGA cannot mourn the exit of Mr Peter Obi with all these secret findings surrounding him.

1. Those who knew Peter Obi will attest to the fact that he has been a drug dealer beginning from his days as an undergraduate at UNN. He was hardly attending lectures and only managed to graduate with a third class in Philosophy after spending 12 years at the University.

2. His brother-in-law, who incidentally is one of the hirelings used by him for his nefarious drug trafficking business, is currently languishing in jail far away from London. This is the major cause of strain between Obi and his in-laws. It is on record that his closeness to Dubem Obazie was because Dubem served a jail term for drug trafficking because of Peter.

3. Obi should explain his relationship with former Military Administrator, Governor Ibim Princewill and Col Earnest Kizito Attah of Cross River State whom he helped as a conduit to fleece Cross River State government thus contributing to the underdevelopment of the state.

4. Obi should explain to Ndi Anambra the circumstances of his father’s death, which remains his best-kept secret. Before then, we can reveal that Obi’s father was drowned to death by Obi’s associates in the drug trade whom he short-changed in a business deal, prompting the mafias to kill the old man whom they drowned bounded hands and feet with bricks around his neck.

5. Given the level of insecurity in Anambra state, ”Saint” Peter Obi should explain how he expends his security vote since it is on record that he collects over 470 million nairas per month as security vote (220 million nairas from Local Government and 250 million Naira from the state FAC accounts)

6. Just as Peter Obi professes his Catholicism for political expediency, we ask him to summon the moral courage and explain to the Catholic faithful his relationship with the Olumba Olumba Obu (OOO) Cult sect, where his wife is a known member. It is also on record that Peter Obi met his wife at a nightclub in Auchi. The lady had two children from two different men -an Albino and a Ghanaian. The affirmed Catholic is yet to wed his wife in the church.

7. Obi is yet to explain the mystery behind the 250 million nairas that was found in the possession of his aides. He is yet to produce the contractor and publish the contractual agreement that stipulates that this very contractor will be paid in cash and also a reference to any other known precedents. Not even the famous late Barkin Zuwo of Kano State paid contractors in cash.

8. Obi should explain why he has continued to loot the resources of the state using his brother, Ndibe Obi, Ejike Onwusogbulu and a certain Chidi Agbapu -a Lagos based stockbroker as a conduit for money laundering while the youths in Anambra remain unemployed;

9. Obi was elected governor on the platform of APGA, and it is on record that he never convened an APGA meeting, thereby destroying the entire party structure. Obi should explain to party faithful and loyalists why he destroyed the party;

10. Obi should explain to Ndi Anambra what happened to the state local government allocations and why Anambra under Obi is the only state in Nigeria without elected local government officers in place?
In view of the foregoing, we demand his immediate resignation or face further disclosure of his criminal past and present.

Peter Obi Has Won Already the Nigerian election

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 37 Second

I honestly do not think Mr Peter Obi has to win the 2023 presidential election to prove anything to anybody because he has won already. Those making their comments and analysis on the basis of who will be sworn in as President in 2023 actually don’t get it: Mr Obi has won the election in the minds of millions of young Nigerians, whose future you seek to manage.
Given the obtuse geopolitical configuration of Nigeria, it will be near impossible for Obi to win the plurality of votes even if all the enlightened young people (who constitute the bulk of his support base) vote for him. We know where the deciding votes will come from, and it is sad for me to admit that in those places there ain’t enough enlightened youths that can reason about the present and future of the country without being remotely controlled by same politicians who have conspired to steal their present and future without blinking an eye.

Those youths whose future Mazi Peter Obi is worried about have either been deliberately denied the emancipation that comes with a good education or pauperized to the extent of accepting today’s meal in exchange for supporting the “old and decaying” politicians of yesterday, (apologies to Tunde Bakare), who clearly intend to continue to eat their future.
Whether you like Mr Obi or not, you must accept that his brand of politics has won the hearts of the hitherto dormant youths. He has introduced millions of them into the electoral mix the same way Obama did in USA even as a disadvantaged minority. Unfortunately, Nigeria is not the USA and the old order will still conspire to have its way at the end of the day.

The problem I see in the future is that while Obi might likely not benefit from his efforts, unlike Obama, he is about to unleash something that will ultimately take down the old order. With millions of those PVCs in the hands of those young people and armed with a youthful energy that can disrupt at any time, I pity whoever wins the 2023 presidential election. He will certainly be at the mercy of Peter Obi’s army of angry liberated youths. It’s only a matter of time before they take everything down their own way.

As a pragmatist, I pray that when the electoral conspiracy of the old manifests, it will be Atiku Abubakar that will benefit. He is obviously the lesser evil to afflict Nigeria at this time. The other option is too scary to imagine given where we are today as a nation.
One thing is certain, only those old politicians that understand the youths will survive the coming political conflagration across the nation. In case you don’t know, a politician in his 70s can still be seen as a “youth” whereas a 35-year-old politician will be seen as an aged and decaying fellow. It is all about how you connect with the critical youth demography.
Bring on the youthful energy that is behind the Obi movement…

Read Time:3 Minute, 27 Second

The African Secretariat of the International Human Rights Art Festival (IHRAF), has set aside 10th day of June, 2022 to host two prominent writers, Onyekachi Peter Onuoha and Prince Nengi Josef Owei-ilagha. They will be speaking on the Role of Literature in Human Rights.

A statement issued by the Convener of the event, Wole Adedoyin said the event would take place via WhatsApp by 8:00PM.

According to the statement, “The work of literature has been instrumental since at least the early modern era in shaping the notions of human personhood, good life, moral responsibility etc.”

“The field of human rights and literature has expanded in the last five decades. The idea of human rights is not new. But the importance of taking rights seriously has never been more urgent. Literature has real power to further human rights education. Stories, memoirs and picture books are great resources to help personalize human rights that may otherwise seem abstract.”

“This Webinar will examine the role of Literature in Human Rights. It will also provide answers to how have human rights concerns shaped the literary marketplace and how can literature impact human rights concerns?”
