BBA 2013: Power of No: Elikem’s big No for cheating

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 20 Second

For the first time in the Big Brother House, it is not a Housemate that got to use the Power of No but rather Biggie himself, who wielded his might against Elikem for his cheating ways.

Right before the buzzer rang to signal all of the Housemates to head outside into the garden, Elikem declared: “There has never been a Head of House that has won the Power of No”.

Straight after that he bolted out to the garden, ahead of all his fellow Housemates, to find a row of plates lying on the table. The aim of the game was to have the Housemates each pick a plate and hold it up for Biggie to see and the person that found the plate with the word No written on it would be the winner.

Instead of waiting for the other Housemates to arrive and for everyone to pick a plate at the same time; Elikem chose to peak under all of the plates to find the winning one. This of course left his fellow Rubies seeing red and they called for Biggie to take action against the Ghanaian.

Big Brother sees all and sure enough he handed Elikem his punishment for cheating. He handed the Ghanaian HoH with a brief that read: “Because of your actions Big Brother has chosen to use the Power of No against you. Elikem, you have been disqualified from participating in the next Head of House Task”.

Jeez these Housemates. When are they ever going to learn, that Biggie don’t play that!

BBA 2013: Oneal:”I changed because of Feza

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 31 Second

The Oneza’s have been going through a rough patch.

After being put on the chopping blockon Monday, it seems they have been arguing more than usual. This afternoon,Oneal opened up to Big Brother about his relationship, as well as why he thinks he changed so much from the person he was before. “Feza is a catalyst for why I changed. As soon as I met her, I became softer,” the Tswana Housemate said.

When quizzed about strategies, Oneal touched on people who suck up to HoH. On Monday, many Housemates revealed how Feza’s strategy is to get close to every Head of House, to exert influence in her favour. In his Diary Session today, Oneal revealed how “there are people whose strategy is to suck up to HoH. Unfortunately, sucking up doesn’t work because it’s short-lived,” Oneal said. Was Oneal talking about Feza or other Housemates?

His lady love, Feza, on the other hand revealed how weird her relationship with Oneal is right now. “At this point we’re in love, but this week has been challenging for us because we’re up for possible Eviction,” she said. When quizzed about Oneza shunning their fellow Housemates in favour of alone time Feza told Biggie “Our relationship has stifled our relationship with the other Housemates.

However, I have already hinted to Oneal that I will be interacting more. He has put up a wall unfortunately and I am the only one that understands this. You can’t choose who you love,” Feza said. It’s sad when relationship’s go through a rough patch. However, we hope their love will help them sail through this hurdle.

BBA 2013: Chasemates get naked!

0 0
Read Time:48 Second

What do you get when you pair alcohol with sexy, lonely Chasemates looking for some excitement? A sexy strip show that’s what!

Last night, the Housemates made jaws drop across Africa with a sexy show. After annihilating a bottle of vodka, the Chasemates decided to play the naked numbers game. The Chasemates sat in a circle and followed a countdown order.

When Dillish’s turn came, the Namibian cutie stumbled over her words and because of her fumble, was forced to strip. “Take it off, take it off!” the boys shouted. At first, Dillish protested telling her waiting audience “I’m so weak from the alcohol”. However, the gang was having none of that and waited on her to strip. And strip she did.

Ghana’s Elikem also got to strip down as well and so did Beverly, who flashed a bit of side-boob.

BBA 2013: Day 66 weighs heavy on relationships

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 48 Second

The Chase has been on for 66 days now and Housemates are definitely feeling the strain, especially those in relationships.
Last night Beverly and Angelo had aserious discussion about their relationship outside the Big Brother House. With the end of The Chase just less than a month away, the two are starting to think of life after the game.
Another couple that are taking an introspective look at their situation isOneal and Feza. It seems the last two months in the House and them being both up for Eviction this week is taking its toll on them.
In the early hours of this morning Feza tried to get to the bottom of Oneal’s bad mood. “You don’t look ok,” she said, “what’s wrong?” At first, Oneal insisted he was ok but finally gave in an opened up to his girl.
“When you feel like even your girl is bored around you because you are working all the time, do you know how that feels?” he asked her.
Trying to reassure him, Feza said: “One, I could never be bored by you. And two, you could have taken time off to just chill with me but I do understand that you get passionate. When I said I’m bored it wasn’t about you but this whole thing.”
Meanwhile, the singles in the House were in the other room talking about the Saturday night parties. Cleo complained that Biggie had not brought in a Zimbabwean DJ to play.
“If they send one it better be Hakeem,” she says. “You’d go crazy” said Dillish laughing.
“I don’t think the party would even commence it would just be crazy, we’d go wild” said Cleo. The two girls continued giggling at the idea. “Naughty naughty,” said Dillish.
Bimp, Feza and Oneal are up for possible Eviction this week. Vote here to keep your favourite Housemate in the game.

BBA 2013: Can you marry a person like me – Beverly

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

Relationships in the House are always complex, especially when they become intimate. Beverly and Angelo can attest to this as they got to know eachother first as contenders in the game and then as lovers. Tonight they spoke about their fears of what would happen between them in the real world.

The two were kissing in the garden next to the Jacuzzi when Angelo said Beverly smelled of smoke. This was shortly after the Nigerian Housemate had finished smoking right next to her beau. However, the South African Housemate was sending a message that he didn’t really like kissing her after a smoke.

When all that had subsided the two went into serious mode with their conversation straying from smoking to them pursuing their relationship in the outside world. Beverly said that Angelo terrifies her because she’s fallen in love with him so fast. “I try to deny that I love you because I’m thinking it’s too early to love you when I don’t know how you are in the outside world,” she said concerned.

Angelo understood where she was coming from but also had the same fears as Beverly did. “To be honest, I’m also kind of scared of knowing you on the outside,” he told her. Beverly quickly defended herself saying she has told him everything and whatever he hears outside the House should not matter.

She then asked him a question he was all too happy to answer. “Can you marry a person like me?” she asked almost shy. Angelo didn’t hesitate to answer. “Yes, but would you marry someone like me?” he asked as well. She agreed saying that she would have no choice because she loves him. Is that wedding bells we hear?

Soludo joins APGA, declares bid for Anambra gubernatorial

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 35 Second

ONITSHA—Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the February 6, 2010 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, Wednesday, declared his intention to run for the November 16 governorship poll in the state.

Soludo made the declaration after formally picking APGA membership card from his Isuama ward  at a meeting with the ward’s executive.

He had on July 17, 2013 resigned his membership of the PDP on grounds that the party did not represent what he needed in actualising his dream and vision in politics with regards to the welfare of the people of Anambra and Nigeria in general.

The resignation letter,  addressed to the national chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, titled: “Letter of resignation as a member of PDP” read:  “This is to convey my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party with effect from  July 17, 2013″.

“Let me use this opportunity to thank the party for the opportunity given to me to serve it in some capacity.

“This resignation is without prejudice to the possibility of future collaboration with the party in any areas of common interest   designed to advance the course of nation building.”

Soludo, who said he had to dump PDP after due consultation with his family, Anambra elders and stakeholders from January 2, this year till the date he resigned, said he was joining the governorship race on the platform of APGA to ensure continuity of governance in Anambra State, after Governor Peter Obi must have left office.

“ There is an overwhelming demand by our people, by the people of Anambra for me to remain engaged in the political process.

“There is an overwhelming demand by Anambra people that I should run for the office of governor for continuity and transformation. We need to consolidate on the gains of the eight years that Obi ruled the state,” he said.

He said when he joined the PDP to contest the February 2010 governorship election, people, especially  his friends, told him he was the best candidate but was in the wrong party.

He added:m  “So, while I was consulting, I was told to join a good party and today, I have joined that good party, APGA.

“ I am not joining APGA simply as a vehicle to contest the governorship but because I want to breathe it and drink it.

“I believe in the essence, aim and objective of the party. I have come to the conclusion that APGA is the only party that will move Nigeria to the next level. APGA in its constitution, agrees with the Beijing Declaration of an affirmation for women, other parties parrot it “.

Soludo said his joining the race was not a do or die affair, saying “I can only offer myself to the members of APGA to say that I am willing to contest the election but the final decision is for the party.

Nigeria: APC reshapes the game

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 48 Second

The formal collapse of the three legacy parties, Action Congress of Nigeria, All Nigeria Peoples Party, and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, into the All Progressives Congress, APC ushers a new era of competitive politics in the polity.

“With the approval of our merger by INEC and the emergence of APC, today marks the beginning of a new dawn for our country and her long-suffering people,” Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the hardworking and consistent voice of the opposition said yesterday in his first outing as the interim national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress.

Yesterday was undoubtedly a watershed and it was not surprising that once the news emerged of the registration of the new opposition party that there was some sort of apprehension in the national secretariat of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Of course the PDP had for long been preparing itself for such a possibility and its leaders had in private and public occasions been drummed.

Mr. Tony Okeke, still trying to assert himself as the acting national publicity secretary of the PDP rebuffed requests for verbal reaction to the registration of the APC.

Mr. Okeke preferred a more cautious formal statement where his words would be well tailored and not easily misinterpreted by reporters.

Buhari, CPC; Onu,ANPP; Okorocha, APGA and Tinubu, ACN

Even while welcoming the new political party, his response was laced with punch. He dismissed the changed opposition brand as inconsequential to the PDP’s quest for political dominance saying that Nigerians would continue to reject the new party’s penchant for propaganda irrespective of change of name.

The decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to register the new party was undoubtedly spiked with much intrigue. Few days after the legacy parties – All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC – gave notice of their intentions, other political associations arose claiming to have forwarded letters of intent to INEC to be registered with the same acronym as the APC.

It was a matter that dragged to the courts and is still in the courts. However, the APC was undeterred and stuck to the scripts and put INEC on the spot with its copious recitation of the laws on party merger.

It was thus not surprising that just after the end of the 30 day legal latitude given the electoral management body to consider the application for merger that the commission gave heed to the merger.

“On considering the application, the Commission found that the applicant-parties have met all statutory requirements for the merger and has accordingly granted their request. Consequently, the Commission has approved the withdrawal of the individual certificates of the applicant parties and the issuance of a single certificate to the All Progressives Congress,” INEC said in a press statement yesterday.

The decision was immediately welcomed by a large section of the political class and even the PDP which through Okeke gave its congratulations.

But besides the welcome is the immediate issue of the effect of the registration of the party on the polity.

Mr. Okeke was dismissive of any threat from the APC. His reasoning is apparently based on the persisting insinuation that the marriage is that of strange bed fellows.

The suggestion of the taciturn and deeply regimented Muhammadu Buhari partnering with the politically loquacious but master political dealer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is still a wonder for many.

Besides, the new party also has many suspicious characters whose presence is bound to cause apprehension.

Many of the leaders of the APC it is suspected could deal with the PDP.

Such suspicion is especially latent in the leaders of the party that came from the former ANPP.

It would be recalled that in the days leading to the commencement of the merger talks that some of the leaders of the legacy ANPP, notably Senator Modu Ali Sheriff and Ahmed Yerima were accused of trying to sabotage the talks.

Senators Sheriff and Yerima who struggled over the carcass of the once vibrant ANPP it is suspected would be loath to play second fiddle to Tinubu and Buhari in the new party. But so far, the two men have carried on with the same focus as other APC leaders.

Many Nigerians who have not recovered from the shock of Senator Ahmed Yerima’s advocacy for child marriage would be amazed to find that the former governor of Zamfara State is one of the leaders of the party.

Even worse are recent reports that named the former Zamfara governor as one of the possible replacements of Vice-president Namadi Sambo on the PDP presidential ticket in 2015.

The prospects of the party had in recent times been helped by the persistent crises in the ruling PDP.

However, expectations that many of the disaffected leaders in the PDP would change alliance to the APC are not forthcoming. Many of the people with problems in the PDP are not bound to find some peace with APC members who they have had historical problems with.

The new party is, however, promising not to disappoint the enthusiasm of Nigerians for a change.

“We promise not to disappoint Nigerians who have reposed much confidence in us. We say that contrary to the lies being peddled by the naysayers, we are not seeking political power for the sake of getting it, but in order to use it to empower our people and allow their long-nursed hopes and dreams to become a reality,” Mohammed said yesterday.

“And to those who have vowed to change their names if APC survives for a year, we hope they will live up to their words,’’ it said.
