The Liberating Power Of Brexit

0 0
Read Time:6 Minute, 9 Second

The referendum of June 23, 2016, regarding Britain’s remain at or exit from the European Union, through its subversive BREXIT result – the first major, painful defeat for the under German control European Union of the banks and multinationals,- undoubtedly shook the dominant British and European political and economic system.

The British, taken as a whole, are not the people of a protectorate who might have a slave mentality. They are the proud people of a great country that in the past has been an empire and today is one of the world’s largest economies. The British therefore, who are also the winners of the two world wars, have developed a highly dignified attitude and behaviour. So, the British citizens who endured with unprecedented fortitude and bravery the fierce bombardments of the  Nazi air force in World War II, would not be able to accept, -against any short-term negative economic impacts arising from the BREXIT-, the German domination and leadership in the European Union.

Thus, the incredible surprise of the German political leaders and far away standing bureaucrats in Brussels caused by this amazing, liberating for the ordinary people result, on that promising and sunny dawn of June 24, 2016, does not comply in any way with any historical knowledge and thorough data analysis.

Germany’s assiduous effort to put under its complete control the European people and level once again the continent –this time not by the use of military weapons as in the past, but the use of economic ones-, presents similar, ignorant of history characteristics. It is obvious that the Germans, who cannot control in any way their great political and economic power, are completely ignorant of the history, and so now, find themselves -by mathematical determinism- on the verge of a new defeat that will come  through the imminent, unraveling of the European Union.

The  European Union, which in 1993 through the Maastricht treaty replaced the until then EEC, is basically a by default unnatural and defective political and economic union of states with different political, legal, economic, military and cultural levels, but as well a union of people who feel like strangers to each other, without any mutual and brotherly feelings of solidarity Thus, the grandiose pronouncements and unrealistic visions for a democratic and prosperous from end to end European Union could not but be bitterly ruled out.

Germany, taking advantage of the impacts of the crisis erupted in September 2008 through the grandiose collapse of the banks (Lehman Brothers), and invoking -of course- the Maastricht Stability Pact and the need for reform packages so that the negative effects of the crisis can be confronted, has been implementing since then -with exaggerated dominance- a kind of economic totalitarianism, mostly against the weak Member States of the European periphery.

The anti-grass roots economic plans of the strictest neoliberal austerity imposed by Berlin have indeed levelled the societies of the Southern Europe countries. In Greece, -which is certainly the most typical example of the pilot implementation of these incredibly absurd and economically irrational policies-, unemployment has increased dramatically to 26.8% of the workforce, while 36% of the Greek population lives below the poverty line. In Italy, 24.4% of the population is facing the risk of poverty and social exclusion. In Spain 22,2%  of the households live below the poverty line and more than one in three children, -that means 2.6 million, – are facing the risk of poverty and social exclusion. In Portugal, one in four children lives below the poverty line and a total of about two million people – 20 % of its population- live amid poverty and destitution.

In the same time, Germany has clearly received unprecedented economic benefits. Its extremely big profits arise from the transfer of investors’ money to «low risk» German bonds due to the crisis plaguing the eurozone. Especially after 2009, yields on German bonds have reached the bottom of the barrel, while in some cases (eg 5-year German bonds) reached negative interest rates. That means that Germany not only does not pay to borrow, but on the contrary, investors -given the insecurity in the euro zone- pay it in order to safeguard their money. Thus, in five years time (2010-2015), Germany has managed to save a total of EUR 100 billion, equivalent to 3% of its GDP, precisely because of the dramatic reduction in borrowing costs.

So, it is more than obvious to every benevolent observer that the European Union -and surely the extremely neoliberal eurozone- operates in the interests of the hegemonic and dominant Germany at the expense of other Member States and mainly at the expense of the southern Europe countries. The extremely high trade surpluses achieved by Germany, -eg. in 2013 it had a trade surplus of 200 billions thus remaining a highly competitive state, -are certainly due to the great German economic machine but in the same time they are scandalously increased by the unfair eurozone monetary system.

Germany for the first time in many years, apart from its economic boom, has become a first-rate international player, given that its political leadership has found itself at a key position thus being able to represent the other European countries, without being asked to. So Great Britain’s – the first military power, a permanent member of the UN Security Council and the country with the third largest contribution to the EU budget- exit from the European Union, represents a fatal blow to the international status of the European Union and first of all to the status of Germany.

In the same time, the European Union institutions and decision-making processes lack democratic legitimacy and they are distant and inaccessible to the ordinary European citizen. Thus, a deep democratic deficit directly opposing the founding treaties of the European Union and grossly violating the original declaratory core of values, is clearly visible The people of Europe do not exert absolutely any direct influence on the important European Union decision-making institutions –i.e the European Council with its strong centralized role and the European Commission with its highly bureaucratic and technocratic nature- while these institutions have absolutely no accountability to the citizens. On the other hand, the directly elected European Parliament, which is based in Strasbourg, does not possess by no means sufficient powers and continues to be a weak link.

In conclusion, the European Union which has been reduced into a type of German colony, despite the illusions cultivated by certain political circles, is not willing to change or improve, or even acquire a democratic, social role. Thus came the great time for the enslaved countries within the European Union and the eurozone to follow the shining example of Great Britain and the proud British people, to break their steel shackles and get  liberated, looking forward with a widespread hope and optimism.

Can I tell the Igbos the truth about NOLLYWOOD’s negative influence?

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 28 Second

Can I tell the Igbos the truth about NOLLYWOOD’s negative influence? It’s ridiculous to complain that we don’t control the press; you can’t control industry as ADDITIVE as filmmaking with the higher and sustained international appeal without using it to rightly push your identity.

Nollywood should think beyond making money with their simplistic and monotonous storylines that are hurting us, enough of that nonsense already….because the first film, LIVING IN BONDAGE had a setting that talked about rituals, for decades, you are stuck there helplessly?

America for decades used movies to sustain their perception as global superpowers and good guys…..the bad guys are always Russians and Arabs….this is to show you what nations can achieve even through entertainment.

The “new friends” I met some time ago, I did my best to explain to them how many Igbos spend 5,10,20 years of hunger and wearing almost few trousers and shirts building businesses only for it to be reduced to ritual money once they say let them relax a little….maybe, buy a small Lexus, build small duplex somewhere and send their children to a fairly good school.

Nollywood is lying, the greater number of Igbos running and doing businesses across the world have not seen how a native doctor looks and neither do they belong to any secret cult where money is being vomited for them…. that nonsense is the figment of NOLLYWOOD’s imagination and needs to stop.

The idea of mother’s in-laws are wicked and are always ready to poison their daughters-in-law is a lie

The idea that our Igbo girls like the money the way they try to portray it is a lie.

The idea that every matter involves a native doctor or a man of God is a lie.

The idea that uncles kill the widow of their brothers and take all her properties is a lie.

The wretched settings they often chose to shoot their movies are because of the poor budget of their movies, not the true picture of Igbo land.

The poor costumes they use are because of the low budget, not the true picture of the Igbo lifestyle or Igbo attire.

The idea that Igbo marriages and daily living are filled up with drama is a lie

NB: I will constantly speak now in the correction of ignorant stereotyping of Igbos…..my reason is simple, the generation of our fathers kept quiet when everyone started the lies of IGBOS LOVING MONEY….. but a critical look on how Nigeria was plundered and stolen to death will show you that Igbos did not even make 3rd eleven in the national LOOTING league.

Those Ex general and army fathers, uncles, and cousins who stole and wasted Nigeria’s future still point at an average Emeka struggling against racism in China while trying to engage in his businesses like the one who loves money. I CAN’T KEEP QUIET. This is a duty for the next generation.

More secrets of Mr Peter Obi were unveiled – Edwin Chukwujekwu

0 1
Read Time:2 Minute, 56 Second

APGA cannot mourn the exit of Mr Peter Obi with all these secret findings surrounding him.

1. Those who knew Peter Obi will attest to the fact that he has been a drug dealer beginning from his days as an undergraduate at UNN. He was hardly attending lectures and only managed to graduate with a third class in Philosophy after spending 12 years at the University.

2. His brother-in-law, who incidentally is one of the hirelings used by him for his nefarious drug trafficking business, is currently languishing in jail far away from London. This is the major cause of strain between Obi and his in-laws. It is on record that his closeness to Dubem Obazie was because Dubem served a jail term for drug trafficking because of Peter.

3. Obi should explain his relationship with former Military Administrator, Governor Ibim Princewill and Col Earnest Kizito Attah of Cross River State whom he helped as a conduit to fleece Cross River State government thus contributing to the underdevelopment of the state.

4. Obi should explain to Ndi Anambra the circumstances of his father’s death, which remains his best-kept secret. Before then, we can reveal that Obi’s father was drowned to death by Obi’s associates in the drug trade whom he short-changed in a business deal, prompting the mafias to kill the old man whom they drowned bounded hands and feet with bricks around his neck.

5. Given the level of insecurity in Anambra state, ”Saint” Peter Obi should explain how he expends his security vote since it is on record that he collects over 470 million nairas per month as security vote (220 million nairas from Local Government and 250 million Naira from the state FAC accounts)

6. Just as Peter Obi professes his Catholicism for political expediency, we ask him to summon the moral courage and explain to the Catholic faithful his relationship with the Olumba Olumba Obu (OOO) Cult sect, where his wife is a known member. It is also on record that Peter Obi met his wife at a nightclub in Auchi. The lady had two children from two different men -an Albino and a Ghanaian. The affirmed Catholic is yet to wed his wife in the church.

7. Obi is yet to explain the mystery behind the 250 million nairas that was found in the possession of his aides. He is yet to produce the contractor and publish the contractual agreement that stipulates that this very contractor will be paid in cash and also a reference to any other known precedents. Not even the famous late Barkin Zuwo of Kano State paid contractors in cash.

8. Obi should explain why he has continued to loot the resources of the state using his brother, Ndibe Obi, Ejike Onwusogbulu and a certain Chidi Agbapu -a Lagos based stockbroker as a conduit for money laundering while the youths in Anambra remain unemployed;

9. Obi was elected governor on the platform of APGA, and it is on record that he never convened an APGA meeting, thereby destroying the entire party structure. Obi should explain to party faithful and loyalists why he destroyed the party;

10. Obi should explain to Ndi Anambra what happened to the state local government allocations and why Anambra under Obi is the only state in Nigeria without elected local government officers in place?
In view of the foregoing, we demand his immediate resignation or face further disclosure of his criminal past and present.

Ambode, the embattled governor, submitted documents with proof to Buhari of the atrocities of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos state and the reason why Buhari vowed never to allow Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed him

Reasons why Tinubu the greedy ‘landlord’ is desperate to hold on to power — Gov Ambode

1. The 1,000 hectares of land valued at about N175Billion located at Lakowe near Abijo at Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and given to Lekki concession company [LCC] which is owned by Tinubu and being developed as a golf course and housing estate by Assets and Resource Management Ltd [ARM]

2. The prime land of 157 hectares with 2.5km of Atlantic beach-front valued at about N100Billion.

5. No.4, Oyinkan Abayomi [formerly Queen’s Drive], Ikoyi; A luxury 5- bedroom detached house on one acre of land which was originally the Lagos State Governor’s Guest House since 1979 was acquired by Ahmed Bola Tinubu. The property valued at about N950M was released to him by Fashola in 2007

6. Tinubu’s residence at No.26, Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi is said to worth over N5.5Billion which is also part of his net worth.

7. The 250-hectares of land valued at about N165Billion & strategically located at the Ajah junction on Lekki Road which was initially meant for a General Hospital for the people of Eti-Osa is now his property. The property has been developed as a Royal Garden Housing Estate fully owned by Tinubu.

8. He also acquired for himself a sophisticated private jet worth over $60Million.
Tinubu also owns some first-class luxury cars, one of them is G-Wagon said to worth N600 Million and built with bulletproof and bomb detector apparatus as well as surveillance cameras.

9. The choice property at Lekki- Epe road on which he built the multi-billion naira Oriental Hotel and the extension of a multi-storey car park beside it is said to worth N220Billion together with the hotel.

10. A Multi-level recreation centre by Mobil in Oniru Estate on Lekki-Epe Expressway jointly owned with ARM and Tunji Olowofe is said to be worth about N55Billion.

11. Another 3.8 hectare of land at the Lagos State Fisheries Office in Victoria Island valued at over N3Billion is also his property.

12. The Fishery Landing jetty at Badore [where the Ilubinrin fishermen were to be relocated] valued at about N800Million is another choice property of Mr Tinubu.

13. The entire Ogudu foreshore scheme is valued at about N6Billion. Adding to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Net Worth.

14. The Ilubinrin housing estate [which used to house Lagos State civil servants and judges up till 2007. This housing estate is worth about N3.5Billion has been since acquired by Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

15. The former Julius Berger yard at Oko Orisan, Epe valued at about N650Million.

16. Tinubu’s wife, Remi Tinubu, built the massive multi-billion naira New Era Foundation youth camp at the junction of Eleko, off the Lekki-Epe express road which is also part of Tinubu’s wealth.

17. TVC and Radio Continental are owned by Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of his media investments. These two media outfits are valued at about N3.6Billion.

18. Oando Oil which is managed by his younger brother, Wale Tinubu is in reality owned by Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself. This oil and gas company with revenue of about ₦450Billion and total equity of over ₦162Billion is the largest indigenous oil company in Nigeria.

All those praising and campaigning for Tinubu is simply for the cash benefit they are looking for as it is a known fact that BAT is one of the richest in Africa if not in the world going by his shares with the world’s greatest telecom giant ‘apple’.

The question to be asked is what else is Bola Ahmed Tinubu looking for in life, the same question was asked on MKO during his time, but in the end, he lost it all.

All these facts are in the public domain run by the FBI, CIA and other financial crime agencies across the globe.

Nigeria Election 2023: The new blackmail in town By Azuka Onwuka

0 0
Read Time:5 Minute, 13 Second

Between 2014 and 2015 when the presidential campaign was on, I took a decision not to make any denigrating statements against Buhari in line with my philosophy of living and letting live and respect for the other person’s point of view.
Based on the promotion of electoral transparency, lack of desperation, a sense of fairness which Jonathan had displayed and the fact that I wanted the South-south not to complain in future of not being allowed to complete their tenure, I preferred Jonathan. But I vowed not to say any insulting or denigrating words against Buhari. I only chose to show why I felt Jonathan was a better option.

It was my right to support any candidate. It was also the right of my friends and other people to support their own candidates. I never condemned them for one day for choosing which candidate to support.
Despite all that, I was continually attacked and called names. If the name-calling or attacks came from unknown online people, it would have been easy to understand. But even people who were very close to me in real life were part of the attackers.

Let me give instances of the type of relationship I am talking about. If a friend is out of employment, and you see an opening for someone and makes every effort to see that the person gets the job, it shows how dear the person is to you. If you have a company and employ someone to work for you, with the person later leaving on a good note for greener pastures, naturally you have a relationship in which the person continues to see you as “my boss” and is usually careful about what to say to you.
But in 2014 and 2015 when the Buhari campaign was on, some people with whom I had such long relationships threw all that away because of Buhari. They easily cut relationships with me simply because of my right to support my candidate, not because I ridiculed or insulted Buhari. There were other people who blocked me or unfriended me without even my knowledge. Some only told me years later when they had become disappointed with Buhari’s leadership style.
Yet all this bile was not used against Buhari’s candidacy.

Remember that in 2011, when it was clear that Buhari was losing to Jonathan, his supporters went on a rampage and murdered 11 NYSC guys sent on national duty. They also killed dozens of other people and burnt many houses and vehicles.
Between 2014 and 2015, Buhari’s supporters burnt the billboards of Jonathan and campaign vehicles. It was not enough. They pelted him with stones when he went to campaign in some Northern states. Some people justified it and clapped for them.

This bizarre intolerance was not used against Buhari.
Northerners in PDP and APC turned the Buhari project into a northern project. It was not used against Buhari.
Jonathan and his wife were called unprintable names by governors, Senators, Nobel Laureates, columnists, and analysts. Some people put his name on a goat, while some used a coffin to conduct a mock funeral for him. Many people laughed that Jonathan was being dealt with.

Buhari himself used words of violence like “Ku fita ku yi zabe. Ku Kasa, ku tsare, ku raka ku tsaya. Duk wanda bai yarda ba, ku halaka shi.” (“Firstly, you must register, come out and vote. You guard, protect, escort to the collation centre and you wait until the result is counted. Anyone who stops you, kill them!”) and “If they rig, the dog and the baboon will be soaked in their blood.” Yet, many Nigerians overlooked all this and continued to campaign for Buhari until he was declared the winner.
Before the 2015 election, many people ran away from Nigeria for fear that if Buhari lost, his supporters would unleash unimaginable violence worse than what they unleashed in 2011.
But here we are in 2022 with many people employing reverse psychology, subtle blackmail and gaslighting against the candidacy of Peter Obi, using his supporters as an excuse.

You hear empty statements like: “Peter Obi is good but his supporters are so rude”. “Peter Obi is a good candidate but his supporters are demarketing him by making him an Igbo candidate.” Ettu Mohammed asked people to present screenshots of the insulting statements made by Peter Obi’s supporters, and the few who brought out screenshots showed things like “Your candidate won’t win. Let him support Obi.” These are the insults that have been bandied around and used to silence those supporting Peter Obi.

The same Peter Obi’s supporters have been told that they are wasting their time and votes because Obi will not win, and they said, no problem. They have been told that Obi won’t win because he has no structure, and they said, no problem. Even though many opponents of Peter Obi say that he is not the frontrunner, no presidential candidate gets the amount of negative posts from those who are against his candidacy like Peter Obi does. While Obi’s supporters write about Peter Obi, his opponents spend more time writing about Peter Obi than their own candidates. And when they make it their duty to destroy the candidacy of Peter Obi, they believe that Obi’s supporters will post love notes under such posts.

Peter Obi is the candidate on the ballot. He has made it clear over the years that his campaign is about issues and will always be devoid of personal attacks and mudslinging. If you sincerely want a better Nigeria, support him. If you don’t want to support him, boldly support your candidate and stop looking for excuses to push forward as the reason for supporting somebody whose image runs against what you have been preaching for years.

If you are a supporter of Peter Obi, don’t allow anybody to use reverse psychology, blackmail and gaslighting to distract you from your conviction that #PeterIsBetter than other candidates in all ramifications. The next president of Nigeria will not govern only those who voted for him. Nigeria is in a mess today – both those who voted for Buhari and those who didn’t are suffering the repercussion together.

With the Labour Party, Ekwunife mocks Obi’s presidential ambitions.

Read Time:1 Minute, 29 Second

Senator Uche Ekwunife (Anambra Central) has said it is laughable for former Anambra Governor Peter Obi to run for president on the Labour Party platform (LP).
The two-term senator, who is running for re-election on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, declared that her party is still as strong as a rock in Anambra State.

Addressing PDP stakeholders at her event Centre in Awka at the weekend, Ekwunife, said it would be a pipe dream for Obi to beat PDP or any other party in Anambra with Labour party.
Though stakeholders cautioned her at the event to shun talking ill of Obi and LP in her campaigns to avoid a backlash, she insisted PDP remained a formidable party in Nigeria.

She said the PDP remained a party to beat in the next general elections, adding that her antecedents and track record placed her above other candidates.
Ekwunife restated her commitment to bringing further development to the Senatorial District, adding that the president would not be won on social media
According to her, the forthcoming election would afford her the opportunity to consolidate on her achievements in the Senate.

Former Anambra PDP chairman, Sir Ndubuisi Nwobu urged party men and women to remain steadfast and work assiduously for the overall victory of the candidates in the next elections.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Charles Odedo, eulogized Senator Ekwunife for her giant strides in governance.
He said that the Senator had been a performer from their days in the House of Representatives .

Odedo narrated how Ekwunife defended the interest of the entire members while serving as their caucus leader.
PDP’s Senatorial candidates in the three zones in the State are: Uche Ekwunife (Central); Senator Stella Oduah (North) and Chief Chris Uba (South).

How I persuaded some actresses not to have cosmetic surgery —Gloria Young

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 45 Second

Gloria Young, a veteran actress, believes that women who undergo cosmetic surgery to achieve a curvy appearance do so to impress others.

“They’re trying to impress others,” she said in an interview with Saturday Beats. I’m not sure what they mean by ‘they’re doing it for themselves.’ A woman who loves herself will stick to what God has given her and make the best of it. Put on appropriate clothing.

I have actually prevented a few of my coworkers from “going under the knife.” It is completely incorrect. It will become a habit that will be difficult to break. Furthermore, money is being squandered that could be used for something else. There are many hungry people out there, but these women are spending their money on themselves. That is their prerogative.”

Responding to a question on actresses who ‘work’ on their bodies to boost their careers, Young said, “I have always been a big person and it has never stopped me from working. I am still working on my weight because of my health. I may be getting more elderly women’s roles now but it is because I am not a small girl. In this day and age, people must realise that there are roles for everybody. But, we are in the glamour age where everyone wants to look slim.

“The camera has to like the actress, including the producers and directors. So, it may seem like they prefer slimmer people. However, one also needs to be talented to stay up there (in their career). It is not just about looks but also what one can deliver.”

Speaking on the criticisms that some entertainers have got for campaigning for politicians in the forthcoming elections, the actress said, “I really don’t want to talk about politics. I feel if I veer towards a particular side, I have a social responsibility to my fans. The only thing I can say to people who watch me and love my work is that they should get their permanent voter’s cards, and be sure of who they are voting for.”

Burna Boy’s bodyguards shoot a married man after the singer made a pass at his wife.

Read Time:2 Minute, 38 Second

The Lagos State Police Commissioner’s Special Squad has arrested five police officers associated with singer Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, for attempted murder after they shot two revelers—Irebami Lawrence and another identified simply as Tolu—at Club Cubana on Victoria Island in Lagos on Wednesday.

According to a preliminary report by the Bar Beach Police Division, trouble started when the singer and five police escorts visited the nightclub around 4am on June 8.

About four policemen waited outside while one of the policemen, identified as Inspector Ibrahim, who was in mufti, accompanied the Grammy-Award-winning artiste into the club.

According to multiple witness statements, the singer was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman.

He was reported to have told Ibrahim to invite the woman to join him.

However, the lady’s husband was said to have lambasted the singer, insisting that it was disrespectful for any man to make advances at his wife.

After some minutes, Burna Boy reportedly made fresh advances at the woman.

This infuriated her husband further and his friends who had gathered at the club.

“As things were getting heated, Ibrahim brought out his service pistol and shot multiple times while Burna Boy was laughing,” said a senior policeman.

In the process, 27-year-old Lawrence was shot in the thigh while his friend, Tolu, was hit in the head by a bullet. This caused a commotion in the club.

It was learnt that Burna Boy and his crew then drove off to one of his properties at the Elegushi end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway before leaving for Lekki Phase 1.

“Aware of what he had done, Burna Boy took the next flight out without even informing the policemen. He only made a video call to them to inform them that he had travelled to Spain. All his police escorts have been arrested and are currently at the Command headquarters,” said a top source at the office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

Sources close to the victims said the police were already making attempts to protect Burna Boy because of his status while the victims were treating their wounds at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

Jide added that Irebami, who is based in the United States of America, arrived in Nigeria a week ago for a wedding.

He also berated the management of Club Cubana for not doing enough to forestall the situation, adding that the club management had not even reached out to the family since the incident occurred.

He also berated the management of Club Cubana for not doing enough to forestall the situation, adding that the club management had not even reached out to the family since the incident occurred.

Attempts to get a response from Burna Boy’s manager, Mrs Bose Ogulu, who is also his mother, proved abortive as she neither responded to calls nor a text message on Saturday.

Similarly, Chioma Nwachukwu, a media consultant for Cubana, did not respond to calls on Saturday.

But the Spokesman for the Lagos State Police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the focus of the investigation was the policemen.
