Passionate Enugu-based Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has declared that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, can never become Nigeria’s president.
Mbaka, who made the declaration at his Adoration Ministry ground in Enugu, said unless God ceases to exist, Obi would never lead Africa’s most populous nation as it better to have an old man as president than a ‘stingy young man’.
“A stingy man that cannot give people his money, with this hunger ravaging the land, and you are saying he is the one you want; you want to die of hunger? Are you people insane? Where is the Holy Spirit?
“It is now that [PDP candidate Abubakar] Atiku is seriously contesting for president; now that he is contesting without Peter Obi; it is now that he is serious. We want somebody that is serious. Unless Peter comes here to kneel, if he becomes president, he will close down this ministry. What we are doing is spiritual,” said Mbaka.
“Listen, a good old man is better than a young wicked man. Peter Obi is going nowhere as far as God lives. If Igbos want a representative, it is not someone like Peter Obi.
“I should not have talked but I saw my video going round everywhere as if Fr. Mbaka wholeheartedly came out and apologized. No, I didn’t apologize wholeheartedly, it was out of duress. I had to obey my Bishop, in obedience I had to; it is not of my volition. I did it because I am a Catholic priest. My Bishop said, ‘do it’, my own is ‘Yes my Lord’.
“I did not say he is a bad man; I said he is a stingy man. A hungry man wants someone that is generous; the man has so much money, but he is ‘I, me, myself’. But that money will not be useful to him. I am very happy now that I have spoken out. That apology is a poisonous curse against Peter Obi.
“If he is wise he should have come here after that apology to say he is sorry but he waited. Anybody supporting him is wasting his money, he is going nowhere.”

It was in 2002 that Mbaka first unravelled. That year, he would gather his congregation at the Adoration Ministry and ask everyone to start pointing at the Lion Building (Enugu Govt house) while commanding Holy Ghost fire against the then governor Chimaroke Nnamani whom he said was a wicked Governor who God already told him would not live beyond that year not to talk of winning the 2003 re-election. This man didn’t just stop at this weekly harvest of Holy Ghost fire against the governor, he actually went a step further to release a special audio tape titled “This Wicked Generation” in which he swore that if Chimaroke won his 2003 reelection bid, he (Mbaka) would know he was not serving a living God and would therefore resign as a Priest.
2003 election came and governor Chimaroke won his re-election, finished his second term and even contested and won another election as a Senator. As I type, Chimaroke is currently in the senate TWENTY YEARS after. And he just secured another ticket to go to the Senate again in 2023 and is set to be the Enugu state governor come 2023 BY PROXY.
Mbaka neither resigned as he swore he would, nor did he even apologize for lying in God’s name.
This is Mbaka for you. A religious Ponzi Master who praises anyone who gives him money, even if that person killed a million innocent people to make that money. And once you refuse to give him money, you become an enemy. Recall how he lamented that the presidency no longer picks his call, which was exactly why he started attacking the same Buhari whom he was praising in 2019 at a time it was obvious that his Govt has been a disaster.
If you know Mbaka so well, you won’t wonder why he said a man who throws money around, even if it is stolen from public funds, is better for Nigeria of today than another man who refuses to PUBLICLY announce his donation to the church even when doing so would have earned him some political capital but instead, requested to be taken to the project site, that he could even single-handedly execute the project for the church. And this same man went and donated N100,000000 to Bishop Shanahan Specialist Hospital Nsukka (BSSHN) to upgrade its School of Nursing and Midwifery to a College. BSSHN is a missionary hospital owned and managed by Nsukka Catholic Diocese.
Between PUBLICLY giving money to Mbaka, without seeing any project for which he intends to use the money, And donating a whopping N100,000000 to upgrade an academic HEALTH institution owned by the church, WHICH ONE SERVES HUMANITY AND GOD BETTER????
I’m happy that Nigerians are waking up. Integrrity-challenged morally bankrupt cr00ks can no longer continue to hold us, hostage, simply because they are wearing a white cassock.
My only disappointment is with the mother church for refusing to wield the big stick on this charlatan. How can one emotionally truncated man hold the mother church hostage in this manner? I grew up as an Altar Boy at Sacred Heart Parish Akpugo and I know one or two things about the level of Organizational Discipline in the Catholic Church. Mbaka is successfully making nonsense of all that while my Lord Bishop watches on. A shame, isn’t it?
Yesterday was a bad day for us. Amid a growing hardship and growing embrace of Mr Peter Obi, it is very unfortunate that we still have a priest who preaches hate when his colleagues are preaching love and the need to collect PVC’s and vote for Obi.
Yesterday’s attack by the respected Priest, Fr Ejike Mbaka on our Leader, Mr Peter Obi in particular was unwarranted and unhelpful. It served as a serious distraction from the task at hand, which is to encourage us to work together and ensure he emerges the President to arrest our haemorrhaging resources through his outstanding frugality in the use of resources, which obviously conflicts with the extravagant leadership style the priest is accustomed to.
The Obidients need to get back on track in terms of focusing on what we need to do to promote our candidates instead of dwelling on what I consider a subjective view of a Priest who identified with the present government and considered it divine intervention.
Please do not join words with him, instead pray for him as this is his lowest moment. Also, remind him that Mr Peter Obi is not vindictive and would not close his adoration ground. The priest is free to vote for the dollar-sharing candidates of other parties.
Mugu don pay, shout halleluiah!!!, so goes the lines of one of the newest melodies on the Nigerian airwaves, a song by hitherto little known Kelly Handsome, a US based Nigerian youngster who has suddenly catapulted into the status of a celebrity following the dropping of his hit single Maga Don Pay.
Beyond the great production, wonderful sound mix and I dare say, intelligence that went into the packaging of the song, is a huge moral question-one that seems the biggest bane to the advancement my generation and by extension constitutes the greatest impediment to the eventual emancipation of our dear country by we the future leaders.
The song is a testimony to the fact that we now not only do fraud, we take pride in celebrating it.
It reminds one of Nkem Owoh’s I go chop your dollar and Olu Maintain’s Yahoozee both of which enjoyed great listenership among youths. In both cases as in this, the artists denied having a first line intension of promoting fraud, claiming they did what they did for the love of music and the arts. I am a great fan of Nigerian music and I appreciate creativity a lot, but I wish to disagree with the artists on this.
Music is a strong medium of communication which holds a strong influence on the people. From time immemorial, people have used music to pass a wide range of messages across, the more popular ones being messages against issues that affect the course of humanity negatively. For example Michael Jackson’s Earth song drew the world’s attention to the degradation and bastardization of the earth as a fall out of various human activities. Closer home, Fela’s many afro beat hits which remain ever fresh in our minds were a series of constructive criticism of bad leadership and a constant advocator for good governance.
When you listen and sing along to these songs, you find your self-beyond the movement of your body in a dance-reflecting on the wordings. Believe it or not what you hear has a huge influence on you. For example in the early 90’s, the explosion of American rap music in Nigeria and the orchestrating of the then Tu-pac Vs Notorious BIG rivalry contributed chiefly in the introduction of gangsterism among youths in Nigeria and a subsequent explosion of cultism on our campuses.
We appreciate the fact-shamefully though- that Nigeria is today known world over as a country of fraudsters, scammers, dupes and internet tricksters. It’s no more news that internet fraud has now become the major occupation of many youths. Daily, young men (and women) sit around in cyber cafe or even in the comfort of their bed rooms with the provision of internet service by most telecom operators, doing one thing- employing their intelligence and ingenuity in seeking ways to get other innocent internet users part with their money or materials.
Those who succeed go about living a life of luxury-one only obtainable from someone who didn’t sweat to make the money- and we see them around in our streets and on our campuses, driving expensive cars and playing their car CD so loud as if to announce to every one around that “hey a big boy is aroundâ€. The painful part is that we-the host of those who have either not made it or who do not even engage in it, hail them, discuss them, and by our reverence turn them into celebrities.
That is already bad enough. The EFCC may or may not be winning the fight against cyber crimes-we wish them well- but it becomes a different issue altogether when we become the vanguards of this despicable way of life by using Music to celebrate it.
What Kelly Handsome just did was to provide a song for our morally bankrupt internet tricksters popularly known as yahoo-yahoo boys to, in company of their kinds, wine dine and celebrate their evil activities. While this leaves him-Kelly Hanson- smiling to the bank, it leaves us more morally bankrupt and sinks us further in the murky waters of international disgrace and ridicule.
How does one even associate such an issue as fraud with a religious word like halleluiah? Mugu-a victim- don pay-has fallen prey-and you celebrate it by shouting halleluiah. Does this in any way suggest a heavenly acknowledgement of the success? Don’t we think we are reducing this special-spiritual- word to nothingness by associating it with such soiled and tainted exploits as internet fraud?
Wole Soyinka once acknowledged that his was a wasted Generation. It is painful to admit now that my own generation is not faring better. We are raising a people who have not only closely copied their leaders but are fast fashioning ways of even outdoing them. Carry out a poll of a hundred youths and 99.9% of them will admit-without shame- that when they get into power they will also steal.
My claim finds credence in our eagerness to cut corners and obtain things free and fraudulently. Two weeks ago, the whole country was thrown into frenzy as people went even into refuge dumps scavenging for used MTN recharge cards, in order to cash in on a technical problem MTN was experiencing. So many loaded free units and boasted about it gleefully. What does this say of us as a people?
While I don’t have any thing against Kelly Hanson, if anything, I think he is a pack of talents, I have everything against his song. I disagree with him on promoting fraud and celebrating internet scammers. I insist that there are many more issues to sing about and make money order than fraud. I hold very strongly that his song is a bad influence on our youths and if we want to turn this country around, we must have less of his type of music on the airwaves.
This call goes out not only to musicians; it also goes out to our nollywood directors and publishers of Society magazines. Stop celebrating affluence as if that is all there is to life. Stop promoting thievery of any form. Stop making it look as though we all have to do the same thing to succeed. Stop toying with the fleeting sensibilities of our extremely gullible youths. The effects of these are overwhelming and we all are victims of it.
Do you take a roll in the hay every night, once or twice a week, monthly or at no particular time? For the good of your own relationship, how much sex should you be having? Many couples do find infrequent sex to be an issue. While some are fine with the occasional 5-minutes romp under the sheets, others wish they were getting a whole lot more.
There are women who worry that their men demand too much sex and secretly wish they’d slow down. But a lot more men complain that it is their women that are not giving it up as often as they (men) desire.
More than next door
On the whole, the average couple is happy if it thinks it’s getting more sex than the couple next door regardless of how much it’s actually getting.
Having more sex than your neighbours can actually make you happy, and research shows that couples who have sex at least two to three times a month are more likely to report a higher level of happiness than those who who’ve had no sex during the previous 12 months.
The more sex people have, the happier they tend to be, even when factors like income, marital status, health and age are taken into account.
What is more surprising is that even people who have reasonable amounts of sex report lower levels of happiness if they think there is a chance they could be having less sex than their peers.
Conversely, people who think they are getting more sex than their peers report higher levels of happiness, even if — in the great scheme of things— they aren’t having that much sex.
How much is normal?
This sounds like a simple question, but there are no right answers. What happens when a couple has what is called mismatched libidos? If she likes to have sex four times a week and he only once or twice, of course they want to find out who is the abnormal one.
Essentially the amount of sex you have will depend on you and your relationship, and that the ideal frequency is tricky to pin down.People tend to have more sex in the early stages of a relationship and less lately on.But the average does suggest that a natural sexual frequency is something like once or twice a week in a committed, long term relationship.
Many couples will be happy with less, and others will be at it every night, but if you’re up with the average at least you can stop stressing about what’s happening next door and start enjoying what’s happening in your own bedroom.
At least once a week
Every relationship is different, and the amount of sex you need is the amount that makes both partners happy. While there may be no one right answer to the question of how often couples should have sex, they should to try to do it at least once a week.
Pencilling in sex at least once a week means sex becomes a habit, something you fit in however busy or stressed you are. Once a week means you’ll get all the health and wellbeing benefits, too. So the more you have the better.
Sexless marriages
Generally speaking, a sexless marriage is one in which a committed couple has sex less than 10 times per year. About 1 in five couples fall into this category.
This may or may not be an issue, depending on the couple. Some couples, especially older pairs who’ve been together a long time, are perfectly fine with once or twice a year or even not at all, thank you very much.
Not having sex doesn’t mean these couples aren’t deeply in love, monogamously committed and happy together. It just means that sex isn’t as high a priority for them as it is for some of their friends, neighbours or people they see on TV and in the movies.
Spice up your flagging sex life If you and your partner have gone several weeks or even months without sex and the lack of activity is troubling you, usually a little bit of effort is enough to revive your flagging sex life, especially if the emotional connection between you and your partner remains strong.
Try one or more of the following tips
Schedule it: Sounds horribly unromantic, but really it’s quite the opposite. Plan a relaxing shower and mutual massage as part of foreplay. After all, who doesn’t look forward to a massage? Couples who search together for the right scent of massage oil are off to a great start.
Mix it up: Perhaps you’ve always had that special secret fantasy, but you’ve never mentioned it or acted on it. Now is the time to talk about it with your partner. Who knows, maybe he or she is willing to try it. And be sure to ask about his or her secret fantasy. It might be a turn-on for you, too. Just make sure that if you both say yes, you really mean to say yes. No regrets, please.
Go away. If you’ve always done it in the bedroom, try another room, the kitchen, or a hotel, or a cabin in the woods. It’s amazing what a little change of venue can do for a stale sex life.
Be romantic
Give your partner a gift “just because.” Write a list of things you love about your partner and give it to him or her. Plan a surprise date that involves an activity you know your partner enjoys (even if it’s not your favorite thing to do).
The actions of the couple who walked naked in Victoria Gardens City, VGC on Monday night have elicited mixed reactions.
The incident occurred on Road 28, House D5.
Speaking to some residents of VGC, Vanguard Metro gathered that the couple were under the influence of a drug known as Colorado. But, there was no one in the house who could respond as the gate was under lock.
However, one of the neighbors who pleaded to remain anonymous said: “I was around the corner and I noticed people around 11 pm on Monday.
“They were smoking. I was the one that drew the attention of other people. Then the estate management security came and they handled the whole process and then they were taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.”
Another resident who identified his name as Amols Zuel said: “I was the one who made the video. People who were around said the couple took Colorado.
Colorado is a dangerous substance smoked by youths to enliven their spirit and get intoxicated, most times leading to insanity. The drug is like a sweet and when anybody takes it, the person will not know what he or she is doing any more.”
Also, other residents of VGC are of the opinion that the couple were in the business of rituals.
One of the residents said: “We believe it was not a drug, but they want fast money. It’s possible, it was what the person that made the charm asked them to do.”
Another resident said: “They are not the first to have done something of this nature.
After all, we have witnessed a woman who went to have her bath at VGC roundabout. This is not new here, please. “
Meanwhile, there has been notice from one of the neighbours on the estate.
According to the notice, “Dear neighbours, greetings to you, all. Yesterday on our close, at about 11pm, the Vice-Chairman called my attention to an ugly situation whereby two adults male and female were seen walking around the estate completely naked.
“Our estate security and management personnel accosted them and accompanied them to our close (63) where the duo purportedly reside in a BQ.
“As the case may be, the situation soon got out of hand when both adults slit their writs and neck in what seemed to be a suicide attempt, saying they will die and rise again in 3 days.
“Further investigation of their BQ apartments revealed some items such as: illegal drugs and other substances.
“They were obviously under the influence of some substances (drug abuse).
“Thank God for the swift response of our management, security and medical team who eventually sedated the victims and took them to the hospital around 12.45am.
“Drug abuse is real! May God helps our teens and let us be observant and report anything that looks out of the ordinary within the neighbourhood,” it reads.
However, every attempt to speak to VGC Chief Security proved abortive, as the people on the ground claimed he was on a long meeting.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has come under fire for his trip to Egypt.
Recall that Obi announced his departure for Egypt on his verified Twitter handle in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to him, the trip was part of his detailed study of comparable countries to Nigeria.
His tweet reads, “In Egypt, I am expected to understudy, among others, the Egyptian Power Sector, Education, Planning and Finance Sectors. -PO.”
Obi’s trip however, has been receiving fire and backlash, on social media, as has activist and convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju said going to Egypt makes zero sense.
Adeyanju said, “Tinubu is in Ekiti working hard for his party, Atiku is in Abuja; Obi on his way to Egypt to study Egypt. Later, people will come to shout rigging.
“Peter Obi should be going to Ekiti, not Egypt. Election is happening on Saturday in Ekiti, Obi says he’s going to Egypt to understudy their system. The Labour Party has a Guber candidate in Ekiti. This was how Moghalu was all over social media but someone called Dumebi defeated him,” he added.
Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has described Obi as an unprepared presidential candidate.
Sowore, via his verified Twitter handle said, “Heard @PeterObi traveled to Egypt to learn how to fix Education/Power problems, this is exactly the problem with unprepared candidates.
“It is 9 months to the election & a two-term gov. & former VP candidate wants to go learn something from Egypt in 3 days? Wow! Wow! #WeCantContinueLikeThis ”
Meanwhile, some tweeps disagreed with Adeyanju and Sowore on Obi’s 3-day trip to the Northernmost African country.
@gov_otaoghene said, “It makes zero sense to you! Na why you no fit to be president. Our power grid has collapsed repeatedly. The man is going to find out how Egypt is getting theirs working top notch! Peter Obi has opened mind and he is willing to learn from other countries.”
@prince_cjn said, “The Labour Party is an upcoming party with limited resources…expecting Peter obi to campaign for them now is an exercise in futility because the APC will want to use it as a statement to demoralize the followers that he can’t deliver Ekiti…”
In his opinion, @Enugu_sultan believes that Obi going to study the Egyptian model is a welcome development.
He tweeted, “If Nigeria can humble herself and learn we won’t be where we are today. We all read books to learn, we can also travel to learn. I’m rich today because I went to a friend and learnt what changed my life..”
On Wednesday, hoodlums stormed the Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo to retrieve the body of a colleague who died there.
On Tuesday afternoon, hoodlums engaged in a fight in the Asoje area of the state capital, prompting security operatives to storm the area. Residents accused Amotekun corps of shooting at the hoodlums, with two people allegedly killed and one taken to the hospital for treatment from gunshot injury.
The hoodlums, according to hospital sources, forced their way into the hospital to retrieve the body of the victim, who later died in the hospital.
The hoodlums, who were wielding different types of weapons, including cutlass, matchets, clubs, bottle, scared workers in the hospital forcing them to hide for cover.
They however laid siege on the morgue, where the body deposited with a view to retrieving for burial.
The siege lasted for about thirty minutes during which no one can access the hospital, while patients and relatives also abandon the hospital until the hoodlums made away with the body.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee Uniosun teaching hospital, Dr Babatunde Afolabi said the matter has been resolved and the body taken out of the hospital
“The coroner has been done and the body has been taken out for burial. The matter has been rested”, he said.
According to a social media report, a lady from California, United States, raised an alarm and accused a yet-to-be-identified suspected Yahoo boy of bringing her to Nigeria through devious means.
According to reports, the incident occurred in Badagry, Lagos State.
In a video clip posted by Instablog, an Instagram blogger, the lady claimed she arrived in the country three days ago but didn’t know how the boy persuaded her to come.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness, whose voice can be heard in the video, stated that the two were taken to the home of a Baale in the community for further questioning.
Italy joined the eurozone in 1999, with Prime Minister Massimo d’Alema of the “Democratic Left” party. This fateful participation, which entailed the complete loss of independent monetary policy, is undoubtedly the main cause of the disappointing performance of the Italian economy.
The country’s GDP currently stands at EUR 1.75 trillion euro and its growth rates are extremely anemics, reaching just 0.9%. Real per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to reliable calculations, increased in the period 1969-1998, in which the country had its national currency, the lire, by 104%, while in the period 1999-2016, where the country had already adopted the euro, fell by 0.75%. On the other hand, in the period 1999-2016, Germany’s real per capita GDP grew by 26.1%, making the citizens of that country the most gainers among the main economies of the eurozone.
Italy, at the same time, has the third largest state debt in the world after the USA and Japan, and therefore its rescue is impossible, since it exceeds the capabilities of European states. The country’s debt, as a percentage of GDP, currently stands at 132% and in absolute figures to 2,336 trillion euro, while in 1999 it was 109,7%. So, one can easily notice a significant increase.
At the same time, since 1999, Italy’s steep downhill course in terms of development had begun. Fiat has ceased to dominate the European car market and the country has lost its leading position as a producer of white household appliances. Many factories were shut down and several large businesses have relocated to other countries. Millions, in addition, small and medium-sized enterprises, which based on the periodic devaluation of the currency, to offset the inadequacies of the Italian economic system, could no longer compete outside the Italian border. What are these inadequacies? Labor market problems, low public and private investment in development and research, high government bureaucracy, dysfunctional, costly and slow-moving justice system, high levels of corruption and tax evasion etc.
Unemployment is about 11% of the labor force, the fourth highest in the European Union after Greece, Spain and Cyprus. At the same time, unemployment among young people aged between 15 and 24, which, according to the latest statistics from the Istat statistical office, amounts to a very high percentage of 30.8%, reflects in the clearest way the deep economic and social crisis which sweeps as a hurricane the Mediterranean country of the European South.
Poverty has risen to its highest level since 2005. The latest Istat report has recorded 5 million people in absolute poverty in 2017. On a percentage basis, 6.9% of Italian households live in absolute poverty, ie in a situation where it is not possible to cover the minimum monthly expenditure for the acquisition of a basket of goods and services which, in the Italian context and for a family with certain characteristics, is considered necessary for a minimum acceptable standard of living.
At the same time Italy has the majority of bank branches per inhabitant across Europe, which is additionally characterized by a wrong business model, surviving only by interest and corporate loans. Thus, given that the interest rates in the eurozone are zero, banks are operating loss-making, having accumulated insecurities (red loans) that currently reach about 260 billion euros (15% of Italian GDP), of which much is lost.
The Italian economy, the third largest in the badly designed monetary union, looks like I would say schematically, with a tired horse, loaded with debts and red loans, which breaths with difficulty on the uphill, full of stones and puddles, of the Eurozone, which is an incredible rigid system, a space clogged with irons for 19 different countries in productivity, inflation, trade balance and technological progress.
Therefore, It should be understood that the eurozone is nothing else but a field of conflicting interests among the member countries that make up it. Thus, what is of great interest to Italy is not of interest in any case for Germany. However, the reconciliation of interests over the years of the common currency has proved to be impossible. This is because Germany as the first economic power has managed to rule and dominate, using the euro for its benefit, while at the same time the other countries instead of resisting and even colliding, bowing and obeying.
However, the cost of delaying Italy’s exit from the eurozone – which has so far prevented at least an apparent fear of the Italian political system for any short-term negative effects of exit – will ultimately prove to be far greater than the cost of rupture in the beginning of the economic crisis.
The recent decision by the coalition government of the Movement 5 stars M5S and Lega, formed in May 2018, to submit a budget for 2019 with a deficit of 2.4% of GDP is clearly in the right direction, because it is most important the reinforcement of the Italian economy by strengthening of domestic demand as well as the prosperity of the Italian people, and not Brussels’s strict fiscal regulations imposed by Germany and which do not allow it.
Italy must at last cease to retreat to Berlin’s commands and fear the rupture with the German eurozone because it is able to return to the lire and thus regain its political, economic and institutional sovereignty. Despite the current problems, it still has the second largest euro area industry after Germany and the fifth largest in the world, with participation 19% at GDP of the country. Italy produces from aircraft, cars, weapons, electronic systems up to perfumes, shoes and clothes. Italy also needs energy, that is cheap oil and cheap gas, which it does not have. But it could secure oil from its former colony, Libya, and gas from Gazprom. Thus, with low production costs and a flexible national currency, it would become extremely competitive.
To sum up, Italy, sailing like a shaken boat into the turbulent sea of the eurozone where blow powerful winds, will sink mathematically if its political leadership does not take, as long as it is still time, the groundbreaking and dynamic decision to return to its national coin.
