Nigeria: Recall Osaze now, Owolabi tells Keshi

Felix Owolabi, a member of Nigeria’s 1980 Nations Cup winning team, has called on Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, to recall striker Osaze Odewingie into his squad for South Africa 2013.

The ex-Green Eagles left winger told the News Agency of Nigeria in Ibadan that it was not too late for the Super Eagles coach to recall the West Brom goal poacher if Nigeria must make a mark at the event.

“Much as the issue of players selection is the exclusive right of the coach, I think Keshi should bend backwards to include Osaze in his team for the Nations Cup in South Africa,

“At the same time, it would be counter productive to keep a quality, experienced and seasoned player who could make a turn around when the chips are down,” he said.

The former Shooting Stars left winger, who urged Keshi to give every player equal opportunity, called on the coach to play a fatherly role by reconciling with Odemwingie before it was too late to do so.

“I am not saying that with Osaze, Eagles will win the cup, neither am I saying without him Nigeria will win, but the two of them should dialogue in the interest of the nation,” Owolabi said.

Owolabi lashed out at Odemwingie for overheating the controversy on the pages of the newspapers while also asking Keshi to develop a relationship with the player who could be important to his match plan.

A MUST READ! True Life Story by the Richest Man in Hollywood

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 12 Second

I came across this interesting testimony by Tyler Perry and thought I should share:

A few years ago I was getting these really insane water bills. I mean HIGH! So I decided to dig some wells in my yard to have water for my landscape. I live alone, so I know it had to be from watering the grass.

So I hired a company to come out and dig these wells. The foreman and I walked all around my yard and as we were walking he was putting down flags. I asked what the flags were for. He said,

“The flags represent good places to dig for water.” I asked, “Why do you have so many flags?” He said, “I’m not sure if any of these places will produce water.” I said, “Hold up, you mean if you dig all these spots and don’t hit water I still have to pay you?” He said, “Yes, that’s how it goes.” I said, “Ok, fine.” Needless to say, he dug three wells and never hit water. I said, “Just stop.”

I got a few more extreme water bills and called him back. He said, “Are you sure?” I said, “Yes, keep drilling until you hit water.” The next well he dug he was down 500 feet and still didn’t hit any water. He asked if I wanted him to stop. I said, “Go deeper.” He dug down another 200 feet and still nothing. I said, “Go deeper.” He drilled another 200 feet and he hit rock.

I said, “Blast it, cut it, do whatever you have to do but keep digging.” After fighting the rock and breaking his drill and getting a new one we got a little deeper. He said, “We are at 1,200 feet, why do you want me to keep going?” I said, “Cause I’m tired of these water bills and I’m going to do something about it.” He said, “But this is really deep.” I asked him if he had hit water yet. He said “no,” so I told him to go deeper. “But you don’t understand,” he said. “We don’t usually drill this deep, this is going to be expensive.”

I told him that, “Sometimes you have to go deeper to get what you are after, no matter what the cost.” He started the machine and went down another four inches and hit a river of water. Just a few inches separated me from getting my breakthrough. That was five years ago and that well has never run dry.

Tyler’s Advise for all this New Year

In 2013 I want you to apply that to your life in all ways. Sometimes you will spend time on a thing and it will produce no water. Don’t be afraid to move on to another spot. YOU CAN’T HAVE FEAR. I don’t care how much time you put into it. If the well is dry MOVE ON! Nothing lives where there is no living water. Be it a relationship, a job, a business, don’t be afraid to move to another spot.

Now, on the other hand, if you are digging your well and you are sure that it is not only where you want to be but where God wants you to be, then keep digging in that same spot. Don’t stop digging until you hit a river of blessings. Don’t stop praying until you live in the change you’ve been waiting for. Don’t stop pushing until you deliver your breakthrough. Yes, it will get difficult. Yes, you may hit rock. Yes, there will be a cost. But when you get to what God is trying to get you to, YOU WILL RECOVER IT ALL!

One of my favorite scriptures says that. “PURSUE AND YOU SHALL RECOVER IT ALL!”

Some people give up when they are only inches away!!

Nigeria: Ekiti Deputy Governor, Funmi Olayinka Battles Cancer, Resigns.

Read Time:1 Minute, 3 Second

According to what National Enquirer magazine reported; There`s every indication that all is not well within the cabinet of the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led Ekiti State government as the deputy governor, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka is said to have thrown in the towel in a clandestine move to safe face.

Though still shrouded in secrecy and still being kept under wrap in Ekiti, the beautiful and gorgeous woman of substance, Funmi Olayinka, we gathered reliably must have resigned her appointment as the State`s second-in-command due to health reasons.

Inside sources in the State who confided in National Enquirer disclosed that, the deputy governor has been battling cancer for quite a while now before her resolve to step down.

A former banker who rose to an enviable seat of Head, Corporate Communications in UBA before she quit for active politics, Funmi Olayinka`s strong determination and belief in the candidacy of Dr. Kayode Fayemi when the chips were down earned her the post of the deputy governor of the State.

Efforts to get the deputy Chief of Staff, Mojeed Jamiu to comment on the issue proved abortive as his phone rang endlessly when we called him. We shall keep you posted as time goes on.

Read Time:1 Minute, 41 Second

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a manager with Intercontinental Bank Plc (now Access Bank), Olayinka Sanni for an alleged money laundering worth about N1.5billion naira. Olayinka was arrested alongside one Oyebode Atoyebi, who is the Personal Assistant to the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

According to reports gathered, Olayinka, who operates a bureau de change outfit named Sidaw Ventures, connived with Oyebode to fraudulently transfer various sums of money of Access Bank customers into his Sidaw Ventures without the consents of the customers.

Olayinka allegedly transferred N65million belonging to Babington Junior Seminary’s account; N40million from P.W. Nigeria Limited’s account; N15million from Mikano International’s account; N20million from Viju Industries Limited’s account, N306million from the account of Falana & Falana Chambers and Fafun Nigeria Limited and N1.2billion from Murhi International Limited into his Sidaw Ventures’ account without the consent of any of the account owners.

Olayinka was also involved in a foreign exchange scam with his Sidaw Ventures account where he handled the sum of N104, 405, 000 but only N72,229,000 worth of foreign exchange was paid to the customer with the balance of N32, 185, 000 now being hotly contested between his firm and the customer.

Asides that, the Access Bank manager also collected the sum of $461,200 USD from one Chukwurah Nkiru, who sold it to him for the equivalent of N76, 559,200 but was not paid.

The anti graft body arrested Oyebode, Iluforiji’s PA for complicity and conspiracy with Olayinka for allowing his passport-sized photograph and name to be used in opening an account in Sidaw Ventures Limited in the name of Akanmu Babatunde.

This name was then used by Olayinka to allegedly dupe unsuspecting individuals and firms he had dealings with.

The Acting Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the arrest in a statement and said that the suspects will be arraigned in court soon.

NIGERIA: TWO GOVERNORS WILL DIE IN 2013.

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

I foresee trouble and anarchy in the land in 2015.
I saw killing among the politicians and people in higher positions.
the much anticipated elections of 2015 may also not hold.

If prophesies coming from spiritual leaders in the country are anything to go by, the series of tragedies witnessed in the country in the just concluded year, particularly among the political class, might not have come to an end. Precisely, there may not be respite yet for state governors and top political office holders.
According to the predictions of the founder of the Evangelical Church of YAWEH, Lagos, Primate Theophilus Olabayo, the much anticipated general elections of 2015 may also not hold. Olabayo, who spoke with Sunday Tribune in an exclusive interview, had many heart-rending predictions for people of the country.
The cleric says two governors would not see the end of 2013, declaring that; “this year, we have to pray so that we may not lose two governors because what happened last year was a shadow of what is going to happen this year.”
Olabayo added that the president and governors should forget about re-election in the next general election. Answering a question on the anticipated commencement of preparations for the 2015 elections this year, Olabayo said; “please, let us forget about the 2015 elections for now… Are the people who are talking about that all-important year sure they would live up to that time? What I foresee about 2015 is trouble and anarchy in the land and the political gladiators would undo themselves… They would use ill-gotten money to destroy themselves. They would also resort to fetish things and occultism to kill themselves.
“But we should all pray in this country so that we may not lose two state governors. Generally, I saw that among the politicians, there is going to be a lot of killings; of people who are in higher positions.”

Read Time:1 Minute, 14 Second

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Saturday declared that it has apprehended a veteran guitarist who played for one of the most popular afro juju musicians, King Sunny Ade, in the country with cocaine.

The agency said that the suspect who played guitar for music star, King Sunny Ade, for three decades was caught on January 1 at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos while attempting to board an Air France flight to Italy.

False Bottom of the Suitcase where the Cocaine was Hidden

Operatives of NDLEA detected two parcels of cocaine industrially hidden in the false bottom of the suspect’s luggage. While confirming the arrest, NDLEA Commander the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar, gave the name of the suspect as Fatoke Abiodun.

“We have made the first arrest in the new year. The suspect, a guitarist by name Fatoke Abiodun was found with 1.575kg of cocaine. The drug was discovered in the false bottom of his luggage during the outward screening of passengers to Italy,” Hamza said.

Fatoke Abiodun with his Suitcase

He is quoted to have said “I played for King Sunny Ade for 30 years before I was unceremoniously retired in 2007. I was unprepared and without severance money I saw the bitter side of life…Because at my age I could not provide for my family. I am ashamed of myself.”

U.S. Congress Pressurises Obama Over Boko Haram

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 52 Second

Request On Designation Of Terror Sect Deferred

DETERMINED to review the US government’s handling of terrorist activities in Nigeria, the US Congress has directed the State Department to submit to both the Senate and the House of Representatives, within 90 days, a report “describing the strategy of the United States to counter the threat posed by Boko Haram.”

A second report — an intelligence assessment — has also been ordered by the US Congress on “the organisational structure, operational goals, and funding sources of Boko Haram,” a specific request made by a US-based Nigerian group of Christians — the Christian Association of Nigerian-Americans (CANAN).

However, both houses of the US Congress have also added a Defence Department responsibility to the issue, which, up till now, was only the statutory purview of the State Department.

According to the Bill, which President Obama signed into law on January 2, both the US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense are to jointly submit the report, which the law says would be confidential.

Observers of US government see the move by the Congress and President as a confidence-building measure and a consensus, amidst criticism of the State Department’s refusal to designate Boko Haram a terrorist organisation, as recommended by other US government agencies like the Justice Department and the FBI.

While the new bill, now enacted into law, does not mandate the labeling of Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO), as demanded by the CANAN, and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), US Congressional officials say it is a step in the right direction since the bill to designate sect an FTO will be reintroduced again in the new US Congress session that started on Thursday.

Two US Congressmen — Peter King (New York) and Patrick Meehan (Pennsylvania), who are playing active roles in the push for the US government to get tougher on Boko Haram, last week assured CANAN officials that the call to designate the sect an FTO would be re-tabled in the current Congress.

The law was one of the last-minute outcomes of last year’s US Congressional session that ended with the Fiscal Cliff agreement.
