“APC Paid for Crowd to Attend Their Campaign Rallies” – Doyin OKUPE

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 27 Second

One of the foremost controversial and daring speakers in Nigeria has once again resorted to airing his views concerning the recent happenings in Nigeria concerning the up and coming elections in February.

He has purportedly claimed that APC buys crowds for their rallies and guess who said so?… yes you are correct – Doyin Okupe has once again spoken.

In a recent interview he granted news men (as usual), Doyin Okupe has reacted to the crowd surge at APC rallies and has attributed it to the fact that the crowd is being paid to attend their rallies.

In his statement, he justifies his position by saying that even the APC rallies that are conducted on a week day (working day) has so many attendants and so-called supporters.

He also went further to say if you count the number of people present at the Kano rally for instance; they were more than the population of Kano itself in the records of the National Population Census.

While giving his talk, Doyin Okupe seized the opportunity to also campaign for PDP and encouraged all Nigerians to vote in continuity claiming that a better Nigeria awaits us all especially considering the recent happenings in the oil sector: fuel is now 87naira per liter.

When FNN asked what that has got to do with anything, he replied and said “It has everything to do with it because with the heat of the elections coming, we still have a President that is holding official meetings and attending to the problems of the masses instead of moving up and down the country claiming to be campaigning. The 2015 elections are yet to be conducted but we all already know the winner”

Scientific Breakthrough At Otta Farms As 700 Chickens Lay Boiled Eggs

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 21 Second

History has been made. Science has been turned on its head. Agriculturists have been confounded. Even some Chickens shed all their feathers out of sheer shock following the incident.

All this happened, after 700 Hens at the famous Otta Farms in Ogun State laid HARD BOILED EGGS.

Scientists have no idea how on earth this happened, but some have blamed this unfathomable phenomenon on the Harsh Sunlight the country has been experiencing of late.

This theory was further corroborated after a Chicken in Sokoto was said to have laid scrambled eggs, but it unfortunately died during childbirth.

Otta Farm owner, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo has been livid since hearing the news that his chickens gave birth to boiled eggs, and has asked the Nation to pile the blame (as Usual) on President Goodluck Jonathan.

In an interview with our correspondent, he said:
“Osone Layer caused my fowl to lay boiled egg? Osone? What is Osone Layer? Is Osone layer not cinema? How did cinema make my fowl to lay Boil egg, s’ogbo? I say its Goodluck’s fault! Beeni! (coughs) Since he take over, only Badluck, Badluck. No Fuel, Boko Haram, he doesn’t respect me again, and his wife, Payshay, always disturbing us with Rubbish Grammar. Fellow Nigerians, enough is enough o! We must fight back o!”

Meanwhile, Lagosians have asked Fashola to do something about the sun or they will embark on a 1-week stay at home strike, While Goodluck Jonathan has set up a Committee to confirm if ‘Osone’ is a really Layer or just a Cinema.

NIGERIA: “No Rice For Anyone In Ekiti Who Supports Buhari” – Gov Ayo Fayose

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 24 Second

Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti has been talking tough ever since the campaign rally of APC Presidential Aspirant, General Muhammadu Buhari, in Ado Ekiti. Despite projections by his advisors that the turnout for the APC Rally would be poor, Gov. Fayose was stunned when throngs of people flooded to streets of Ekiti to Welcome the General.

In a bid to buck this trend, Gov. Fayose has threatened to withhold the usual Rice gifts he offers during Elections from anyone seen supporting The APC.

In a statement released by his spokesperson yesterday the Governor said

“This is a PDP state, not an APC state. We shall not tolerate anyone threatening the peace and unity of this state by waving Brooms on our streets or shouting Sai Buhari or Sai anything. On this note, I declare that every citizen of Ekiti state over 18 years of age is entitled to 24 cups of Rice, which can be collected from today till Febuary 14 at any LG office.”

“However, your rice will only be made available to you after showing your PDP registration form or ID Card. If you are identified as a supporter of APC, or as one of the people who trooped out so disgracefully in Ado-Ekiti to support General Buhari, you will be denied Rice, as well as anything entitled to the people”

“A Word is enough for the wise”.

Reactions to the development have been mixed, some calling it a brilliant idea and others calling it inhuman and a violation of Human Rights, but nonetheless, Lorries filled with bags of rice were seen entering Ekiti by our correspondent, late last night.

Buhari Plans To Step Down After Oyedepo Threatened To open The Gate Of Hell

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 1 Second

APC presidential flagbearer General Muhammadu Buhari is making frantic plans to step down from the February 14 elections after receiviing news of Bishop David Oyedepo’s threat.

President Goodluck Jonathan was received by the General Overseer of Faith Tabernacle at their headquters in Otta, where Bishop Oyedepo spiritually pledged support to GEJ’s re-election bid.

Unconfirmed sources within  PDP campaign team reveal to us that Goodluck Jonathan is currently not pleased with Pastor Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God for aligning towards General Buhari’s candidacy, hence GEJ sought to woo approval from Bishop Oyedepo.

Bishop Oyedepo in his sermon and prayers aggresively  threatened to “open the gates of hell” on whoever that opposes Goodluck Jonathan in his reelection bid.

News coming from APC camp reveals that General Buhari is running scared by the threats, and is making plans to step down. However, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been egging him to ignore the threat as they are so close to victory.

The top APC chieftains are currently in a closed door prayer session, where they are being led by Pastor Osibanjo in a series of vehement prayers to neutralize Oyedepo’s threats.

“We Paid For The Key Of Hell In Dollars” – President Goodluck Jonathan

0 0
Read Time:48 Second

The Presidency has released a statement concerning Pastor David Oyedepo’s statement earlier today about “opening the gates of hell”.

In the statement, President GEJ subtly confirmed that Pastor Oyedepo, The General Overseer of the famous Winners Chapel and Chancellor Of Covenant University, indeed held the keys to the gates of hell, but that a huge amount of money had to be paid for its use.

The statement read:
“…… We had to influence the opening of the gates of hell with a huge sum of money, and the sum was paid in dollars. This is part of the reason why dollar has risen to N208 but we plan to stabilize that immediately after the elections. Please bear with us.”

In related news, the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari, seems to have been shaken by Pastor Oyedepo’s threat of opening hell, and is considering stepping down from the presidential race.

APC Fundraising Portal: NCC to Sanction Service Provider for Breach of Regulations

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 27 Second

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Tuesday stated that it would sanction the Value Added Service (VAS) provider for breach of the commission’s regulation and for its unprofessional conduct in misleading the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use its Short Code platform for political advertisement and fund mobilisation for campaign purposes.

It said the order instructing the network providers to shut down the portals of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and that of APC was done without any ulterior motive.

While showing evidence of a letter dated January 19: NCC/CAB/GEN/2015/Vol/.1/003, addressed to all the political parties, the NCC however admitted that the parties have the right to use short code portal for advertisements, adding that NCC has to be notified seven days before the roll out of such text messages to the public.

Addressing the media in Abuja on what it termed inundation of complaints from several subscribers over messages from network operators to vote for one political party or the other, NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Tony Ojobo, said all licensees are under obligation to operate within the framework of the rules and regulations of the commission.

While referring to the shut-down of APC portal last week, he said: “In this particular instance, we have the guidelines on the use of short code and (Section 4.4) of the guideline says short codes once allocated must be used for the purpose to which it was intended.

“In this case the use of that short code was not for the purpose that it was intended and that was why the letter was written and therefore we have an enforcement processes for regulation that defines the fines for any infraction.

“As much as possible, we have always applied these rules consistently in such a way that there will be enough deterrent for future occurrence and in this case therefore, we will be guided by the enforcement processes and regulation and apply the fines accordingly.”

According to him, the PDP applied for short code in 2010 and was granted because it followed all due processes while in 2011, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State also got approval for the use of the short code because the rules and regulation were also adhered to.

He, however, stated that NCC did not receive any application from the APC client, adding: “On this matter, the commission neither got application from the VAS. We saw just like other Nigerians receiving SMS’ on their mobile devices. For NCC as a regulatory body, we thought that was a breach.

“The commission is not against raising of fund using short code. What we are saying is that the guidelines should be followed. These guidelines were not created for elections purpose anyway, the guidelines were provided for the integrity of network providers and to protect the interest of every Nigerian.”

Judiciary Funding: NBA Heads Team to Monitor Compliance

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 29 Second

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the federal and states governments to honour their commitment to the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) by complying with the constitutional provisions on the funding of the judiciary.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by the association’s president Augustine Alegeh (SAN), the NBA said it was committed to ensuring that both states and federal government comply with the judgment upon which JUSUN went on strike.

However, in order to ensure full compliance by the federal and state governments with the provisions of the constitution on funding of the judiciary, Alegeh said that stakeholders’ monitoring teams would be established at the federal and state levels.

According to him, in addition to monitoring compliance, these teams would also assist in the process of resolving any compliance issues that might arise and deal with them proactively to achieve the desired objective.

He said: “The monitoring teams would include; representatives of secretaries to sovernment, Attorneys-General, JUSUN, National Judicial Council (federal level), Chief Registrars (state level), Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ministries of Labour and Productivity and the NBA.”

He said the association had accepted the offer to chair the monitoring teams at both national and state levels.

Alegeh has therefore requested the  chairmen of NBA branches  to immediately contact their respective state governments to ensure that the commitment requested by JUSUN was promptly made to the state chairman of JUSUN in their states to fast track the process of re-opening the courts.

He said: “The NBA is committed to support efforts aimed at ensuring full compliance with the constitutional provisions as well as enforcing the judgment of the Federal High Court in favour of JUSUN, in the unlikely event that any level of government fails to comply with the constitutional provisions on judicial funding.

“JUSUN has shown its willingness to embrace an amicable resolution of the impasse at the state level and the state governments should show their disposition towards an amicable resolution by declaring their willingness and commitment to comply with the constitutional provisions on funding of the judiciary.”

He said there should be no difficulty complying with the judgment saying   as all governments have a legal obligation to comply with the provisions of the Nigerian constitution.

“Our expectation is that this commitment would also be fully implemented by the Federal and state governments in a manner that ensures the independence of the judiciary,” he added.

“No member of JUSUN will be penalised and/or denied their January, 2015 salaries for embarking on strike action.

JUSUN has also decided to suspend its strike action at the state level upon confirmation by individual state governments of commitment to comply fully with the provisions of section 121[3] of the Constitution on funding of the State Judiciary.

JUSUN did not insist on any formal documentation of this commitment to comply with the constitutional provision.

NIGERIA: Okorocha’s Failed Promise to Students Causes Riot in Owerri

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

The inability of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, to fulfill his promise of N4 million to hire students from various tertiary institutions to endorse him as their governorship candidate in the February 28 election has turned into a protest as the angered students went destroying property of government in the state capital.

Eye witnesses told THISDAY that the students were ferried to the Imo International Conference Centre (IICC), venue of the event by hired buses and government vehicles as early as 6a.m. and they were there till 6p.m. without water and food only to be denied of the governor’s ‘largese’ that should have been a palliative to them.

It was gathered that things went awry when the expected Okorocha’s promise (N4 million) to the students was not provided and there was no government official to address them, which warranted the students to lose their temper and engage in violent demonstration.

The students who felt angered that no government official showed interest in agitation, went berserk at about 7p.m., prompting the destruction of the governor’s campaign billboards and posters at the popular Government House roundabout.

As if that was not enough, the rampaging students who were in their thousands, blocked the major roads of Wetheral/Okigwe/Bank roundabout, smashing streets lights and chanting anti-Okorocha songs until the police were drafted to disperse the rioters.

NIGERIA: Bomb Explosions Rock Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretariat

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 57 Second

The national secretariat of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation,  Ohanaeze Ndigbo, located at No 7 Park Avenue, GRA, Enugu was on Tuesday attacked by unknown persons with objects suspected to be Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), resulting in the destruction of the building and some other important items.

However, the police in the state claimed that the development was a failed attempt by some people to reduce the main building to rubbles.

Though no life was lost, the explosion, which led to a fire outbreak that was subsequently put off, affected some parts of the Akanu Ibiam Conference hall of the secretariat.

THISDAY checks revealed that the explosion went off with a bang which rocked the entire area.

The unfortunate development is a new dimension to the leadership crisis rocking the organisation.

The elders’ council of the organisation led by Chief Mbazulike Amaechi had reportedly constituted a Caretaker committee with Chief Ralph Obioha as chairman. However,  Chief Gary Igariwey, the President-General is still laying claim to his position insisting that he had a four-year mandate and not two years as some people claimed.

The Chairman of the caretaker committee Chief Ralph Obioha who inspected the Ohanaeze main hall affected by the blast told  reporters yesterday that it is an unfortunate incident.

“I have inspected the place it’s quite an extensive damage. I can’t guess the motive or why such an attack should be targeted at Ohanaeze. It is a mystery and I condemn it in its entirety. It’s actually a bomb issue but the motive cannot be explained.”

Also commenting, the embattled Secretary General of Ohanaeze, Dr. Joe Nworgu, said: “I don’t know the choice of that target whatsoever; It happened at about   8:45p.m; I was alerted at about 8:55p.m. It is unfortunate.”

Some reporters who visited the conference centre at about 4p.m. and saw a shattered conference table and a blown ceiling just as two staff of the secretariat who would not have their names in print were on hand to explain what transpired last Saturday night when the facility was bombed by attackers who escaped the scene on the intervention of some staff of the secretariat.

“We also saw debris from the heavy impact of the suspected IED used in the attack, some iron rods that broke off the device, a burnt rug covering the elevated platform on which the wrecked and burnt conference table was seated.”

One of the staff of the secretariat, a caretaker, said: “this thing happened on Saturday night at about 9p.m, and I heard a loud noise and when I run out, I see smoke at the hall and my name join me and we run to the place.
“As we reach the place, we saw one boy running from this window and climb this wire on the fence. The glass window break before, so, I feel he enter through that place,” he informed.

According to him, after the escape of the suspect, they called in the police who embarked on rescue operations and eventually removed an iron bucket in which the suspected IED was built.

The Enugu Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, said the explosion was not a bomb attack but an attempt by unknown persons to raze down the Ohanaeze building.

He said the police was already in action to find those behind it and the motive.

Wike Unveils Blueprint, Vows to Probe Amaechi over Sale of State Property, Failed Contracts

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 39 Second

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has unveiled a 19-point blueprint for the development of the state and vowed to probe Governor Chibuike Amaechi over the sale of government property and failed contracts.

Speaking while presenting his development agenda in Port Harcourt on Mpnday, Wike also accused Amaechi of mismanaging about N3 trillion that accrued to the state from the Federation Account within his seven and a half years in office.

He lamented that the state had not fared well under Amaechi and promised that a PDP government would restore the state to its glory.

His words: “It is beyond contradiction that the record of the present state governor speaks and conjures nothing but failure, betrayal of trust and disappointment in every index of good governance.

“Never in history has Rivers State been so dysfunctional and crisis-ridden. For four years the state House of Assembly remains ineffective, totally subdued and muffled. The state judiciary is also under lock and key, and the doors to justice shut against the people for over a year.

“One can only imagine the pains and hardship being experienced by lawyers and their families as a result of this self-serving, callous decision. Not to mention the general public who need the services of the judiciary.

“Democracy is widely cherished as the government of the people for the people and by the people. But here in Rivers State, governance has since been reduced to a one-man dictatorship. Worst still, the APC government remains totally disconnected from the dreams and aspirations of the people. In seven and a half years, the present government has received and spent over N3 trillion. Yet ignorance, diseases, unemployment, poverty, severe infrastructure deficit and threats keep increasing by the day.”

He said his administration, if elected into office on February 28, would not only probe the contractors who were given jobs and did not do it, but also those who gave out the projects.

“We will not only probe those who were given jobs and were paid but did not do the jobs. We would also go after those who gave out the jobs that were not executed,” he said.

He accused the governor of awarding contracts to those he knew would not execute them because he needed their political support, adding that vendors were handling projects that were not even stated in the state budget.

Speaking on his 19-point blueprint for the state, the PDP governorship candidate said his vision was to build a state that “is truly united, secure and prosperous with boundless opportunities for everyone who lives in it peacefully pursue their goals and realise their full potential in dignity and happiness.”

As a responsive government, he said his administration would respect and uphold the rule of law and respect the sanctity and independence of the legislature and the judiciary.

Wike said he would make the State Executive Council truly accountable for its duties through regular performance monitoring and evaluation schemes, adding that the state civil service would be repositioned for efficient and effective service delivery through training, value re-orientation and meaningful motivation.

He listed the agenda in the blueprint to include open, accountable and inclusive governance; security of life and property; efficient and speedy administration of justice; education; healthcare delivery; agricultural development; and roads, drainage and transport infrastructure.

Others, he said, were housing development; provision of water; energy security; jobs, wealth creation and economic empowerment; women development; youth development; sports, recreation and tourism; environmental protection; urban and rural development; and social welfare services.

However, the  All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has accused Wike of cloning his blueprint for the development of the state ahead of next month’s elections.

He said he had already instructed his legal team to consider appropriate legal actions against Wike for plagiarism.

Peterside spoke in Port Harcourt yesterday evening while addressing journalists on his agenda if elected governor of the state.

He said he was aware of the copyright law on plagiarism, adding, “I have contacted our team of lawyers who are currently studying the copyright law, after which we will take every other necessary step.”

He accused Wike of not having any programme of action for the state, insisting that the PDP candidate only adopted his (Peterside’s) programme which he now christened his blueprint.

Peterside said his party had earlier raised the alarm that PDP was planning to clone his programme after abridged versions were released during his campaign visit to some areas in the state.

His words: “We were informed some weeks ago that some persons from Wike’s camp are scheming to break into our website with the singular aim of cloning our programme and plagiarising the concepts we have painstakingly taken to chat a roadmap for the development of Rivers State.

“However those who did the cloning did a poor and shoddy job, totally in breach of the Copyright Law. You can tell from their action that they don’t have any constructive or concrete plans for the people of Rivers State. They just want to be seen and addressed as governor.”

Peterside also listed his four-point agenda to include public sector accountability and security of lives and properties; institutional and physical infrastructure development and food security.

Others, he said, were social and human capital development and empowerment; and employment generation, wealth creation poverty reduction.
