Nigeria: Jonathan Administration Governs by Deceit And Phantom Statistics, Says ACN

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 3 Second

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has accused the Jonathan Administration of engaging in governance by deceit, saying the Administration has been overstating its achievements and making fake promises to Nigerians.

In a statement issued in Lagos today by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party also slammed the President’s Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, for making himself a purveyor of blatant lies and for having the temerity to denigrate the country’s opposition for daring to criticize a non-performing government.

It said only a government that swims in corruption and lacks self-respect and decency can pick as its spokesperson a man who has been shown to be an epitome of corruption by collecting funds for contracts that were not executed.

ACN said the government’s claim, through Dr. Okupe, that it will generate 780,000 jobs in 2013 through the ‘Young Graduate Employment Scheme’ and 5,000 jobs in each of the 36 states through SURE-P is the latest example of the administration’s lies.

”Our advice to the teeming young graduates who have no jobs is that they should not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by this promise. They should remember that this same Administration promised to create 10,000 jobs in each of the 36 states through SURE-P in 2012. The year is over, and all we have now are phantom jobs and more fake promises,” the party said.

It also urged Nigerians to ensure that their generators are in good working condition, as the government’s promise of stable electricity in 2013 is as unrealistic as it is deceitful.

It drew attention to the government’s claim that it has generated an all-time high 4,500 megawatts and will increase the level to 7,000MW in 2013.
“What a celebration of tokenism! In the first instance, the government should be ashamed to tell Nigerians it has been able to generate only 4,500MW from a huge expenditure of 16 billion dollars!

”Also, no one needs a rocket scientist to know that 4,500MW cannot ensure stable electricity supply in a country of 160 million people, when South Africa, with less than a third of Nigeria’s population, generates over 40,000MW!!! There you have it, dear long-suffering Nigerians, don’t throw away your generators yet just because of an imaginary power stability promised by a government spokesman who has nothing but disdain for the truth,” ACN said.

The party also faulted the Administration’s claim that the bombings and killings in the north have decreased from January to December, calling it fabricated cold comfort and a disservice to millions of our citizens who are daily being subjected to terror attacks, while President Jonathan, now a professional mourner, resorts to endless lamentation instead of decisive action.

”Well, we are not surprised at the claim of reduced terror attacks by the Jonathan Administration. After all, the same Administration claimed that global anti-corruption body Transparency International acknowledged Nigeria’s progress in fighting corruption, when nothing like that ever happened.

”To set the record straight, 750 people have been killed in terror attacks in the north this year, a figure higher than about 570 who were killed in 2011, and not counting the latest killings in Borno and Adamawa states,” it said.

ACN advised the Jonathan Administration “to level up with Nigerians by admitting its failings and rolling up its sleeves, so to say, to reverse the ‘transmogrification’ which the President’s Transformation Agenda has become, instead of relying on a hypocritical spokesman to peddle lies to citizens who are already reeling under the failure of an impotent government.”

Nigeria: Blame Buhari’s Boys By Tunde Asaju

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 46 Second

The swamps of Okolobia point accusing fingers at General Muhammadu Buhari, everybody’s whipping boy. So did the flatlands of Dausayi. For seeking to impose frugality and good governance and lately to wrestle our society from decay; for being a northern Muslim and living in Kaduna, blame Buhari.

The Muslim-Christian and north-south dichotomies have been with us before the sharia riots in Kaduna, but blame Buhari. On this occasion of the General’s birthday; and though he is still mourning the death of his daughter, and now that of his governor, help me blame Buhari.

When it comes to value for human life; European and American dogs and cats have greater value than the ordinary Naija. You can go to jail for up to 14 years for cruelty to animals in those places. In Naija, even in death there is a distinction between men and women of caterpillar and juggernaut and the rest of us who have to wear the disposable adjective ‘ordinary’. How many people died in the Okolobia crash, Governor Yakowa, former NSA Patrick Azazi and four ‘others’? Pause!

Did anyone see Barak Obama on his feet the moment the Newtown, Connecticut murderer turned the gun on innocent children? How can Obama be so un-presidential as to cry? How silly can a president be recalling how many gun tragedies have marred his presidency? What, even the killing of ‘ordinary’ Trayvon Martin saw him stand up and identify. One little American killed in cold blood earned the sympathy and respect of the world’s most powerful individual. Why should he care?

Before I get those deluges of hate mails, I doff my fedora for President Jones for sparing us the ineloquence of making boring speeches even with a teleprompter. I am not asking him to go to Maiduguri. According to popular wisdom, the Kanuri got themselves into this mess on behalf of their power-hungry northern leaders; they should get themselves out or perish trying rather than curry the sympathy of a southern Christian president.
School children were raped in transit between the east and Lagos, nobody told the president, the youth minister, the women affairs minister, and no speeches were made. The kids would carry the scar – for life! Recently, a female student was killed in the east for refusing to be raped by armed bandits. There was no finger of protest.

Ordinary folks are kidnapped and sometimes killed in the east; the army is not called in. In fairness, in all these cases, the presidential spokesman responds with the same template which the ungrateful news media now describe as ‘terse’.

So, how does Buhari get back into the picture? A few social media friends asked the subversive questions last week when two VIPs died in a plane crash along with four disposable ‘others’. His question – when did naval helicopters become ‘kabu-kabu’ to be deployed to convey mourners from Okoloba to Yenagoa? He even alleged that a similar action happened penultimate week when VIPs were shuttling for loyalty between the president and his vice who were hosting different events at opposite ends of the Villa. The nation was shut down.

My friend feigned ignorance that the death of the parents of a presidential aide is not a national disaster worthy of the resources of our nation. He forgets that the aide’s budget is bigger than some state governments; that the aide in question is a Naija-Deltan from where we derive the fuel to power the crashed chopper. In short, this friend of mine suffers from the Buhari syndrome.

In government, Buhari, made a silly law that confined government vehicles back to the pool by 4 pm. No official could deploy a government vehicle to take his wife to the market or his children to school no matter how highly placed. Buhari could not have condoned fuel scarcity; those who hoarded sugar and milk would tell you how such goods were auctioned off. Such wickedly draconian laws would rob democracy of its shine and make public office unattractive to their excellent Excellencies and distinguished honourables. It would also be antithetical to the principle of loyalty.

Would an aide to Barack Obama, Francois Hollande or Iron Lady Angela Merkel have access to a naval helicopter for the burial of their parents? Please don’t ask? Would the governor of a state in America leave his official post, fuel up his official car and jet off to such an event at taxpayer’s expense? Please don’t ask.

We should never ask subversive questions in a land where every evil is the sentence of the gods–ikon Allah! So we dare not say that if we had been frugal with public office and public resources, Maryam Abacha would be smiling with her son, Ibrahim who killed himself and 14 others in Dausayi and crashed a presidential jet to boot. Patrick Yakowa would be at his desk this moment and the navy won’t be one chopper short. We could perhaps have saved the nation more resources sure to be deployed to newspaper adverts and funeral expenses for the dead VIPs and the meaningless probes whose findings would end up in a cupboard somewhere in the rock of offense. Heh, blame Buhari for giving us an invitation to treat. Let the party continue.

My Take: Frugality, Discipline, Selfless public service could definitely had saved this country from countless senseless tragedy and wasted resources.

Is Governor Fashola Becoming A Bad Governor?

0 0
Read Time:9 Minute, 39 Second

How can Nigerians be governed with this high level of cruelty by means of obnoxious laws here and there? Why is it that laws are executed with the speed like that of an angry hunting lion when it has to do with the poor in this country but when it concerns the bigger criminals in the name of political leaders and elites every government begins to form committees that never find them guilty? Why this impunity of recklessness?

Why is it that Nigerian leaders at various levels are very insensitive to the cry of the people, but yet expect to win the war against crime and social vices? Objectively speaking, how can Nigeria’s “vision 2020” policy of being one of the world’s leading political and economical powers in 2020 be realized when average Nigerian citizens still live under $1 per day and their leaders do not see them as partners but rather treat issues concerning them like masters and slaves?

What have we Nigerians done wrong to our leaders?

Who is advising Governor Fashola with this heinous law to ban commercial motorcyclists popularly known as ’okadas’ in Lagos State without first of all honestly providing an alternative? This law is nasty and has got no human face. I was shocked and felt sick when I saw thousands destroyed motorcycles proudly displayed to news men/women as an achievement by the agents of Governor Fashola as ’okadas’ of those that failed the traffic laws. Oh, my heart bleeds! I do not know if Governor Fashola is aware that as his agents destroyed those thousands of ‘okadas’ that they also destroyed many homes, shattered many dreams, jeopardized the future of many children and created more hooligans and criminals.

By Nigerian standards of governance and development, Governor Fashola is one of the very few governors in Nigeria that I still respect and that is why I am making my stand known. Can somebody please tell Governor Fashola that he has at this juncture woefully failed the people because the reason of banning ‘okadas’ is shallow and laughable? If part of the reasons of banning commercial ‘okada’ operators was because many of the riders were engaged in nefarious activities with their ‘okadas’, can we now say because of some people that may be thieving politicians in Lagos State that we should stop having a government in the state?

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo said that there are rogues and thieves at the National Assemblies. Can we now ban law making in Nigeria because of many of these merciless Nigerian law makers in the National Assemblies whose primary interests as evidence has shown have always been to increase their salaries without recourse to its effect on the nation and without plans to make laws that could rehabilitate the shameful health system in Nigeria or to build railways or undergrounds in order to make the everyday agony of life for poor Nigerians easier that ignited the ‘okada’ business? Can we say because there are too many air crashes in Nigeria due to the fact that a few individuals assigned with the responsibility to certify that planes are in very good conditions before they are put in use have collected bribes in order to allow coffins to airlift Nigerians ban the use of aircrafts? Or can we because of numerous motor accidents in Nigeria as a result of the failures of government at various levels ban the use of motors?

Governor Fashola said that it was because of many ‘okada’ accidents that made him ban commercial motorcyclists. What did he do to reduce the number of accidents before this unfounded action? Is it not the responsibility of every government to find out the causes of problems? Did Governor Fashola’s government try to find out why there were many ‘okada’ accident cases? Do the agents of the governor, ‘LASMA’ who is the body of the executioners of this unfriendly law have the ordinary alcohol testing instruments in order to examine and know who is driving under the influence of alcohol on Lagos roads especially when an accident occurs? Did the government of Governor Fashola provide standard traffic signs and speed limits on all the roads where he has banned ‘okadas’? Can Governor Fashola scientifically prove how many of these ’okada’ riders are qualified riders or that are mentally stable to use motorcycles?

Take sentiments and emotions away from the fact that there have been ‘okada’ accidents and ’okada’ related robberies and look at the issue critically. If Governor Fashola did not carry out all these vital elementary assignments, how sound would it be for him to stand up one morning and ban ‘okada’ operators? If Governor Fashola cannot comfortably provide answers to the aforementioned questions; can he now see that the people did not fail but rather the inability of the Lagos State government not to have thoroughly viewed the issue and come up with an impeccable solution that failed the masses? The social implication of this decision is devastating on the people and can never address the issue of accidents he raised until his government takes a very reasonable measure to control and discipline many Lagosians whom out of ignorance or stupidity have formed the habits of navigating bicycles, tricycles, motorcycles or motors under the heavy influence of alcohol, hard drugs or without licences.

What Lagos State government or other states where they have banned ’okadas’ should have done in this situation should have been to research first and then look for a fair and logical method of arriving at a resolution that should not be more harmful to the society than the problem/s they were trying to avoid after also due consideration that it was unemployment that led to the ’okada’ business in the first place. Because even up to the late 80s we did not have commercial ’okadas’, therefore, government agents should have figured out carefully on how a few miscreants in their midst should have been identified and dealt with accordingly without raising tension instead of this indiscriminate ban.

If Governor Fashola continues to refuse to reverse this anti-masses law, the governor may have indirectly advocated that Nigerian banks should be closed because there are some bank managers who cooperate with fraudsters to steal millions or some workers of some banks who work with criminals by informing them when, where and how to break their banks and steal monies. If this obnoxious law is allowed to stand, Governor Fashola has equally advocated that the Nigeria police should be closed because there are many criminals and bribe takers in their midst whose work also has been to gather false evidences against helpless poor Nigerians. Some Nigerian military men/women have been dismissed from service, charged to court and found guilty as criminals. Consequently, the military should also be scraped in Nigeria because they are equally a failure since some of them supply sophisticated arms to armed robbers to kill and wreak havoc on Nigerians in the night in return for money while some of them have been accused to be sponsors, informants and trainers of Boko Haram.

I feel pained to see that Governor Fashola has quickly started to play over our collective intelligence with a massive campaign that since the ban of commercial ‘okadas’ that the number of accidents has reduced in Lagos State, but decided to remain silent whether crime reduced or increased.

Governor Fashola, do not forget that directly or indirectly you used the same ’okada’ people during your election campaign for votes. Why did you not ban ‘okadas’ before the 2011 election? Contrarily you made a law for all ‘okada’ riders and their passengers to be within certain safety standards before they could operate in Lagos State? Could that law have been a mistake on the side of your government or a calculated attempt to deceptively win the confidence and the vote of the ‘okada’ riders? Most of the ‘okada’ riders who bought their motorcycles under credit or ‘higher purchase’ borrowed money to comply to your order and now that you are comfortably sitting as the executive governor of Lagos State not only that you have stopped their source of daily bread but have also destroyed their production companies (‘okadas’) leaving them to gnash their teeth in pains and agony without anybody to turn to.

Because in Nigeria everything is possible, therefore, dear Governor Fashola, could it be that the idea of safety gadgets was not well thought of when you came up with the policy or that some people in your cabinet could have imported helmets without your knowledge and had mounted pressure for the implementation of the helmet law through advice so that their business could flourish? And now, perhaps the business of helmets seems no longer lucrative they have again channeled their deceptive policy somewhere and ‘okada’ operators and their families can go to hell.

Dear Governor Fashola, this is a message from your fellow governor who also happens to be in the same party “ACN” like you, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State , “I think it’s, for me, a class issue and I belong to the working class, so I cannot ban ‘okada’. First, I believe that ‘okada’ is a response to certain deficit in our intra-urban transportation system. From the 60s to the 70s to the 80s, we never had ‘okada’. If you ask a lady to take a ride on a motorbike it was like a taboo. Now it has became fashionable to have a woman and two children on top of a bike. It is not a culture choice. It is as a result of deficit in our intra-city transportation system.”

Dear Governor Fashola, I appeal to you like many others to please reverse this policy because a good leader must have good listening ears. Do not allow us to begin to compare you with the worst governor in Nigeria , Dr. T. A. Orji of Abia State who has unnecessarily channeled all his energy in social attacks against Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu instead of working for Abians.

A governor that one of his best achievements so far was the sacking of all non indigene workers from other eastern states because of bad advisers should not be the kind of governor we should compare Governor Fashola with. One hopes that Governor Fashola is not taking this direction and is listening to the voice of reason.

The ban of ‘okadas’ from Delta State to Lagos State or anywhere in Nigeria under any guise is an economic murder on the part of the poor masses. However, if Governor Fashola insists not to heed to the plea of the people, well, we will grudgingly and helplessly succumb to his wish, but he should understand that he has only used his position and might against us but has not won our respect and that a day shall come when Lagosians will remind him this issue like the way Nigerians have kept on reminding IBB the annulment of June 12 that has irredeemably murdered his political return to ‘Aso Rock’.

May God bless Governor Fashola, bless Lagos State and bless Nigeria!

Read Time:27 Second

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has been admitted to a New York hospital after the discovery of a blood clot stemming from the concussion she sustained earlier this month.

Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines says her doctors discovered the clot during a follow-up exam Sunday. Reines says Clinton is being treated with anti-coagulants.

Clinton was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital so doctors can monitor the medication over the next 48 hours.

Reines says doctors will continue to assess Clinton’s condition, “including other issues associated with her concussion.”

Nigeria’ll Be Great Again – Obasanjo

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 30 Second

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed optimism that despite the challenges confronting Nigeria, the country will soon bounce back as a great nation.

Obasanjo said this at the weekend in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, at a meeting of the special committee on the unity among the four monarchs in Egbaland held at the Government House, Oke Igbein, Abeokuta the Ogun state capital.

He pointed out that God has been kind to the country in terms of natural resources but lamented the failure of her leadership to harness those economic potentials towards her greatness.

The former president stressed that the country has every potential to be great, and noted that God had been generous enough but intended that the people of Nigeria should manage those economic potentials very well to the benefit of her citizens.

“The first thing God did that surprised us most was that He dropped two big rivers down to confluence Nigeria. He then later use gold, bauxite and so many lime-stone in abundance to beautify everywhere in the country. He then later dropped oil under our soil near the water and later in the water.

“I believe there are good people who will be able to manage it, maybe later. But the earlier we are there, the better and I am sure we will be there. We will be there because God has been kind to us; we only need to be kind to ourselves. God will help us,” he said.

Obasanjo also said that Nigeria was never a cursed nation admonished her citizens to exercise patience and be dedicated towards making her great.

“We will be there because God has been kind to us; we only need to be kind to ourselves. God will help us,” he said.

Nigeria: Two killed, 1,500 displaced in Abuja communal clash

Read Time:1 Minute, 17 Second

A clash between Fulani herdsmen and indigenous Gwari at Gwako, Gwagwalada Local Government, Federal Capital Territory, on Saturday claimed two lives, with no fewer than 1,500 persons displaced.

Our correspondents learnt that the fight resulted from an argument over the encroachment on farmland by a herd of cattle.

It took the intervention of the FCT Administration, the National Emergency Management Agency and security personnel to prevent the fight from degenerating.

NEMA Public Relations Officer, Yishua Shuaibu, confirmed that two lives were lost in a statement on Sunday.

He said, “The prompt intervention of the two agencies and the police, civil defence corp and military personnel curtailed the crisis, which started on Saturday as a result of encroachment of herd of cattle on farmland in the area.

Director-General of the agency, Alhaji Muhammad Sani-Sidi, appealed to the warring parties to live peacefully and eschew any form of violence.

While confirming that two lives were lost and 27 communities affected, Sani-Sidi said, “Over 1,500 Internally Displaced Persons are currently squatting in a temporary camp on the permanent campus of the University of Abuja in Gwagwalada area.”

Minister of FCT, Bala Muhammad, who visited the scene of the incident appealed for calm, promising that the government would address the causes of the crisis so that the displaced persons could return to their homes.

He asked NEMA to provide more amenities for the victims in camp as he constituted an emergency team for conflict resolution and relief distribution to the affected communities.

Nigeria: Azazi preferred flying military helicopters –Amaechi

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 47 Second

Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, said the late former National Security Adviser, Gen. Andrew Azazi(retd) had confidence in military helicopters and preferred flying them.

Amaechi, who paid glowing tribute to the late Azazi on Saturday during a state funeral held in his honour by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, said Azazi would only fly other helicopters when a military chopper was not available.

The governor, in a pensive mood, recalled that the late Azazi had on many occasions, refused to board private helicopters he (Amaechi) arranged for him.

Amaechi said, “He was a courageous man and I don’t want to be as courageous as he was. I have always told him, ‘when you come to Port Harcourt and you want to fly helicopter, just tell me. I will provide a helicopter for you’. But Azazi would always want to fly the helicopter of the military, except it is not available.

“When we fly together in the Rivers State Government aircraft and there was turbulence and I got worried and be praying, he would be laughing and he would say to me, ‘you are always troublesome. You say you are strong, this is the time for you to be strong.’ He would laugh and say these pilots would not want to die so they would never see danger and vie into it.”

He said he first got feelers of Azazi’s death from his wife, adding that he called Azazi’s number 20 times after the incident without getting a response.

He said, “When General Azazi died, the first person that called me was my wife and what my wife told me was, ‘I was the last person to speak to Azazi before they boarded. As they boarded, l boarded. We took off the same time. Something exploded. I don’t know whether it is the militant, but l am beginning to hear a sad story. Can you please call your friend?’ And l called General Azazi more than 20 times.

“Then I called the security chiefs who assured me that the helicopter had dropped him in Yenagoa and was coming back before the crash.

“So, I rested and I went to take my bath. After taking my bath, the Speaker of the House of Representatives was there waiting for me because that day was the birthday of the honorable member representing me. When I came down and he broke the news to me, I wept like a baby.”

Meanwhile, Amaechi has named the Nkpogu Road that is under reconstruction after the late General for his sterling qualities and contributions to nation building.

“Looking at the numerous contributions and sterling qualities of the late Gen. Azazi to this nation and his love towards me, whom he usually calls ‘my younger brother’, I am left with no option than to name Nkpogu Road after him by Monday,” he said.

The governor assured the people of Bayelsa of his administration’s commitment towards supporting the bereaved families whenever his attention was needed.

Reacting, President Goodluck Jonathan commended Amaechi’s decision to name the Nkpogu Road after late Azazi, describing it as a welcome development.

Nigeria: Bamidele’s 2014 gov posters flood Ekiti

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 55 Second

There appears to be a crack in the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ekiti State with the sudden appearance of governorship posters of a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Bamidele Opeyemi.

The posters have the Labour Party logo and inscription, Promised Land 2014, even though the lawmaker is currently in the ACN.

The governorship poll will hold in the state in 2014 while other elections will hold in 2015.

The posters were lavishly displayed on major streets in Ado Ekiti, especially at Fajuyi Park, and Iyin-Ekiti, the hometown of the lawmaker, among other towns in the state.

Bamidele had in 2011 contested the ACN ticket at the Central Senatorial District with the incumbent Senator Babafemi Ojudu.

The crisis, which ensued following the contest between the duo, our correspondent learnt, polarised the party even as the wounds have yet to heal.

The party is reported to be considering giving the senatorial ticket to a former governor of the state, Niyi Adebayo, as a way of avoiding a repeat of the clash between Ojudu and Bamidele.

The appearance of Bamidele’s posters on the LP platform is a new dimension to the disquiet over the crack in the ACN in the state.

Efforts by our correspondent to speak with Bamidele proved abortive as several calls to his telephone did not go through.

However, his media aide, Mr. Ahmed Salami, who said his boss knew nothing about the posters, linked the action to the handiwork of political detractors.

Salami said, “He (Bamidele) would come out boldly and tell Ekiti people his ambition at the right time.”

Also, the Director of Publicity, ACN state, Chief Tai Oguntauo, said he was not aware of the posters, noting that Bamidele remained a faithful ACN member.

He said the lawmaker had not told the party that he would contest the governorship poll or that he would leave the ruling party.

Oguntayo said, “You know that this is politics and people can do anything to destabilise a party. I believe this is the handiwork of the opposition. They want to cause crisis within our party but it won’t work.”

Bamidele had in October criticised the dissolution of the ward executive of the party in all the 177 wards across the state.

Affluent citizens of Enugu State, especially returnees from abroad are now shunning public functions, even as they have beefed up security in their homes. This is due to the killing of Dr. Ogbo Edoga, a United States-based financial economist, by gunmen on Boxing Day in his home town, Aku, Igbo-Etiti LGA of the state. Edoga was killed on December 26 this year by gunmen in the house of his kinsman where he stopped over while returning to his village home in Aku on the fateful day.

Since his murder, the prominent member of ‘Nsukka USA’, an elitist organization of professionals of Enugu North extraction, his home town, Aku, and Odenigbo area of Nsukka urban where the deceased was born, have been thrown into mourning as villagers and residents gather in clusters, looking moody and discussing the tragic incident.

The late Edoga left the United States mainly to raise fund for the construction of ultra-modern medical diagnostic centre sited at Ede-Oballa in Nsukka Local Government Area, in an effort by the organization to improve health care delivery in Enugu North senatorial district. The killers of Dr. Edoga were said to have shot him in the chest and waist after snatching a briefcase from him, even as he pleaded with his killers to spare his life. The hoodlums reportedly escaped in a car they snatched from a retired officer of the State Security Services (SSS). Information reaching the Sunday Sun said the snatched car has been spotted at 9th Mile Corner in Udi LGA, about 15 kilometres to Enugu. Edoga’s in-law, Hon Ogbo Asogwa, an ex-lawmaker, has expressed shock at the tragic death of Edoga, describing it as most gruesome and barbaric.

Commenting on Edoga’s killing, President of ‘Nsukka USA’, Eddy Agbo, said in a terse text message: “Nsukka has suffered a great tragedy with the senseless and untimely death of our brother, Ogbo Edoga, on December 26, 2012. ‘Nsukka USA’ has agreed to hold an abridged version of the event with candlelight vigil at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), in honour of Edoga.

We are resolved to affirm and advance the great works of our fallen hero, Ogbo. He lost his life serving our people. Please, join ‘Nsukka USA’ to honour him and drive his passion forward.
