Mr Afolabi Adesanya, the Managing Director/Chief Executive officer of Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC)The Federal Government’s N3 billion grant to Nollywood  will stimulate film production in Nigeria, Mr Afolabi Adesanya, the Managing Director/Chief Executive officer of Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) ,  said.

Adesanya made the statement in Abuja on Thursday and commended President Goodluck Jonathan for approving the grant.

He said the grant would  boost the activities of the entertainment industry if  properly managed.

“It will definitely boost every activity in the chain of film production and as well promote the quality of films,’’ Adesanya said.

He said that the film industry had the potential to complement the oil industry which had remained Nigeria’s main source of income in revenue generation.

“The promotion of activities of the film industry will contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Products and foreign exchange earnings.

“More job opportunities would be provided in every chain of the film production,’’ he said.

Adesanya urged stakeholders to assist in the fight against piracy in the film industry.

He said NFC was working closely with the security agencies to ensure the menace of piracy in the industry was checked.
