Forbes Lists Don Jazzy Richest Musician in NigeriaP Square, D’banj, Whizkid, 2Face make list too

Nigeria’s multi-talented musician, Don Jazzy, has emerged the richest musician in the country, according to a rating of top 10 musicians in Africa done by Forbes, a leading source for reliable business news and financial information.

The list of the top 10 most bankable/richest artistes in Africa however put Jazzy at number two, coming behind Senegalese R&B crooner, Akon.

Trailing Jazzy as the third richest musician in African, and the second in Nigeria, is the twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P Square.

D’banj is next on the list and followed by Whizkid and 2Face Idibia.
The list compiled in conjunction with Channel O used factors such as endorsement value, popularity, show rates, sales, awards, YouTube views, appearance in newspapers, investment, social media presence, influence and so many other factors.
The list shows the artistes making the most money in Africa.

Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh, on November 26, 1982, is a multi award-winning record producer, singer-songwriter, musician, and former chief executive officer of Nigerian record label Mo' Hits Records, founded in 2004 and current CEO of the Mavin Records label, which he founded in May 2012 after his split up with childhood friend and Mo'Hits partner, D'banj.

Born in Umuahia, Abia State, his first signing was D'banj who was at that time also the vice-president of the label and now president after the split.

Jazzy's first full credit production work was in 2004 on Tongolo for D'banj. He went on to produce D'banj's first studio album titled, ‘No Long Thing’, which was released in 2005.

He has produced tracks for Dr SID, Wande Coal, D'Prince, Darey, Naeto C, Olakunle Excel et Zanga (O.A.U), Sauce Kid, Ikechukwu & Tiwa Savage. He also collaborated with Jay-Z and Kanye West on the production of Lift Off, featuring Beyoncé on the album Watch The Throne, released on August 8, 2011.

P SQUARE – the music duo has featured on Forbes Africa twice. They have recorded sold out concerts and have been presidential guests in at least five African countries. They fly private jets.

D’Banj, who is number four on the list, besides being a musician of note, has Sony Entertainment deal.
On his part, Whizkid, an EME artiste, is the CEO of Starboy, an affiliation with Disturbing London and has engaged in several international collaborations. He is the highest paid Pepsi ambassador in Africa and also an ambassador of MTN.
Idibiahas recorded 10 million CD sales and at least seven million digital sales. He is associated with Guinness, Haven Homes, Airtel Worldwide and is a philanthropist.

For Anselmo Ralph, who is number seven on the Forbes list, he is not only making money through music, he is Samsung and Coca Cola ambassador as well as having a perfume line, clothing label and multimillion dollar tour bus.
Number eight on the list is Sarkodie, a rapper who is also Ghana’s youth ambassador, Sark Clothing, Samsung ambassador and Fan Milk Ghana ambassador.

Nigeria’s musician, Ice Prince with six million downloads, is number nine of the richest African musicians’ list. He is 2 Studio owner, a member of One Foundation and Plug N Play ambassador while his compatriot crooner, Banky W,  a co-owner EME, a Samsung ambassador, philanthropist and  multiple award winner, is number 10 on the list.
