Codewit Helsinki – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, author of Half of a Yellow Sun and Purple Hibiscus ,was here today for her book reading and signing event sponsored by the University of Helsinki, Finland . The author read excerpts from her book and talk about her experience  growing up  in the university town of Nsukka in south-eastern Nigeria, where the University of Nigeria is situated, and how it influence her writing as well as other creative influences. She also addressed the audience on a wide range of issues about Biafran war and the need to learn of  our past in order to be equipped for future.

The book reading and presentation took place at the University of Helsinki (Porthania)   on Friday,  April 17, 2009. 

Mr. Anthony Claret congratulated her of her hard work and  achievement on behalf of Codewit members. Many Africans  present  also expressed their gratitude to her achievement.  After the event, the Igbo Union Finland led by Chief Emeka Nwosu  had a brief meeting  with her .  The Chairman, Mr. Nwosu also congratulated Mrs Chimamanda on her great achievement and recent awards and encouraged her to continue to be an exemplary ambassador of Nigeria and Igbo people. finally, a token of appreciation  was presented   to her on behalf of the Union
