The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission boss, Ibrahim Lamorde, speaking through his counsel Festus Keyamo, has described as false, the allegation that he diverted N1tr.

Keyamo said this while filing a N1b suit against Sun Newspapers, at the Federal High, Abuja, on behalf of Lamorde.

Larmode is suing Sun Newspapers, for allegedly publishing a libellous story dated 8th October, 2015 titled ‘N1TRN LOOTED FUNDS: LAMORDE, EFCC BOSS, IN SOUP.’

An excerpt of the statement of claim filed by Keyamo, which was obtained from PM News reads “The allegations in the publication are false and untrue. The defendants did not conduct any investigation into the truth of the allegations before publishing them.

“The defendant did not offer the plaintiff any opportunity to respond to the allegations before publishing them.

“By publishing the allegations in a sensational screaming headline, the defendant evinced the intention to malign the plaintiff and drag his reputation in the mud.”

The EFCC boss was accused of allegedly diverting N1tr recovered from looters, by Mr. George Uboh, Chief Executive Officer of Panic Alert Security Systems.
