The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, has described the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi  Amaechi, and his Imo State counterpart, Chief Rochas Okorocha, as “pathological liars” over their comments during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Imo State.

She was reacting to the statement made by Amaechi that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led federal government could not point at one single project it has executed in the state.

But, speaking with journalists during an inspection of a multi-billion silo (an agro storage facility) in Okigwe area of the state, the minister described the Rivers governor and his party (APC) as pathological liars who were too desperate to get power.
She described Amaechi as a true representative of APC, which she added “is made up of bandwagon of liars.”

Onwuliri disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan had pumped several billions of naira into Imo State through such projects as the silo, Inyishi dam, several Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) road projects and in the education sector.

According to her, the 100,000 metric tones capacity silo in Ezinnachi community in Okigwe is worth over N5 billion, while over 80 per cent projects in both the state-owned university and polytechnic worth billions of naira were built by the federal government.

“This is not to mention the hundreds of kilometres of solid rural roads started and completed by the NDDC in every local government area of this state. Also, no community in this state will not say that it has not benefited from either Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) or the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).”

On the Amaechi’s claims that the Owerri-Port Harcourt road and other federal road projects were abandoned by President Jonathan, Onwuliri dismissed it as lies, saying that work had since commenced on the road after the rains had subsided.

The minister lambasted Amaechi, saying he should first remove the speck on his own eyes to see clearly before criticising others.
“The first part of that road has been done and the second part is ongoing. Already, over N1 billion has been released for the continuation of the job. That is the PDP for you, a party of due process,” she said.

“So, when somebody who is not from Imo State comes here to tell the people that President Jonathan has not done any project in Imo, at least this silo here in Okigwe and the several solid NDDC roads would have debunked that. But the APC-led state government has been busy building substandard road projects that get deteriorated within three months under construction. I am glad that our people have known that the APC and their leaders are liars and cannot be taken serious.

“This silo here will give jobs to thousand of people from Okigwe, Imo, Abia, Enugu and Akwa Ibom States and many families will feed from it.”
Onwuliri called on the people of Imo State and Igbo in general to ensure the continuity by supporting the PDP government by voting for the party and President Jonathan during the presidential election on February 14, 2014.
