The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the House of Representatives contest for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State, Onyemaechi Joan Mrakpor is currently under fire over allegations of name and age falsification.

Mrakpor, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly since 2007, recently changed her name from Mary Amaechi Ugba Bileonwu to Onyemaechi Joan Mrakpor raising suspicions among party members and her political opponents as well.

The aspirant had used the name Mary Amechi Ugba Bileonwu since 2007 when she contested the House of Assembly elections which she won on two occasions, 2007 and 2011.

However, on December 18, 2014, the day she submitted her nomination form to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the contest into the House of Representatives as PDP candidate, she swore to an affidavit, changing her name to Onyemaechi Joan Mrakpor at an Abuja High Court.

She had also earlier swore sworn to an affidavit in Delta State to attest to the fact that she does not know her age, with the affidavit sworn to with her initial name, Mary Amechi Ugba Bileonwu.

Her uncle, Emmanuel Chukwudi, had on October 17, 2014 sworn to an affidavit declaring her date of birth as July 7, 1966.

However, the aspirant compounded the situation when she declared in an affidavit in support of personal particulars of persons seeking election for the House of Representatives seat as requested by INEC that she is 80 years old.

Already, a petition has been forwarded to the PDP National leadership by a group, Concerned Anioma Patriotic Forum in Delta State intimating the PDP leadership of the discrepancies in the documents submitted to INEC by the candidate.
