Less than two weeks to the November 2 council election in Enugu state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Sunday raised alarm that the State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) was colluding with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to manipulate the opposition parties out of the election.
The new party noted that all its chairmanship and councillorship candidates initially cleared by ENSIEC to take part in the election have been surprisingly disqualified by the commission.
The party said it got letter of disqualification of all its candidates from ENSIEC, accusing Governor Sullivan Chime as being directly involved in the obnoxious practice executed by his proxy, the ENSIEC chairman, Dr. Bonny Eneh.
APC chairman of the Enugu state election committee, Dr. Ben Nwoye, who exposed all the documents that both cleared and later disqualified the candidates, said the party will today (Monday) file injuctive relief to stop the election.
