Nigeria on the news again for the wrong reason. A Full grown man defiling a 13 years old girl in a foreign land. Nawa oooo. This is how Ghana Influential Newspaper,Chronicle reported it
"A 23 year old unemployed Nigerian is awaiting trial at an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly having sex with a 13 year old girl in one of the washrooms at the Independence Square, Accra.
Richard Okeke, who resides at Tudu, a suburb of Accra, allegedly lured the victim with GH¢2 into the washroom when she was on her way to Kantanmanso, also in Accra. A security guard who arrived at the scene arrested both the accused and the victim to the Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).
Richard Okeke admitted the offence, but later pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement before the court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemeva. He has been remanded into custody to re-appear before the court in November 2013.
On October 2013, at about 6:30 a.m., the victim left home to collect money from her father at Kantanmanso for her upkeep, where she met Richard Okeke.
According to the prosecutor, Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbere, Richard Okeke met the victim on the way, gave her GH¢2.00, and later lured her into one of the washrooms at the Independence Square, and had sex with her.
He said the complainant, who was on duty at the Independence Square, caught them in the act whilst patrolling, and arrested them to DOVVSU and lodged a complaint.
"The police medical report form was issued, and police accompanied [the] victim to the hospital for examination, treatment and report. The accused admitted the offence in his caution statement," the prosecutor stated.
At the same court, a 31 year old public toilet attendant has been arraigned to answer the charge of indecent assault leveled against him.
Emmanuel Appiah is alleged to have lured a 10 year old victim to the Odwna public toilet on four occasions and inserted his finger into her vagina.
The accused, as a form of satisfaction, gave the victim GH¢10 after the last incident, and warned her not to disclose the act to anyone, but the victim disclosed the secret after she was caught using the said money for ice cream.
Emmanuel Appiah pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him. He was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢10, 000 with three sureties, and is expected to re-appear before the court on November 7, 2013.
The prosecutor, in his narration, disclosed that on September 29, 2013, the victim's uncle saw her eating ice cream, and when she was questioned as to how she got the money to buy the ice cream, she mentioned the accused name, and revealed what went on before earning such amount.
Detective Inspector Atimbere told the court that the complainant was informed, who lodged a complaint at the Adabraka Police station, where a police medical form was issued for the victim to attend hospital for examination, treatment and report.
The accused was arrested, and the case was transferred to Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit DOVVSU. After investigations, he was charged with the offence."
