The newly constituted Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Eastern zone under the chairmanship of Chief Adokiye Mac Dede has cautioned those parading themselves as zonal executives to desist forthwith or face contempt of the court.

In a statement signed by the Zonal Vice Chairman of the association, Mr. Emeka Ozurumba, a copy of which was made available to THISDAY, noted that those who still assume their former positions such as Chukwudi Ezinna, Udo Alozie, John Ubona, Okwuego Davies, Fidelis Inaku, Chinedu Kama and Azubuike Nkwankwo should stop parading themselves as such because the source of their power had been punctured by the ruling of the court.

In suit No. FHC/PH/CS/12/2014 of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt Judicial Division in a judgment order of March 20, 2014 issued a mandatory order recognising the 6th Plaintiff, Chief Obasi Lawson as the National President of the Association pursuant to Article IV of the Constitution of the said Association made on 14th June, 1997.

The court however, made a perpetual order of injunction restraining the former executives and trustees from parading themselves as the national officers and trustees of the association. Based on the ruling of the court, Ozurumba said that since the former National President, Alhaji Aminu Abdukadir has decided to obey the orders of the court by graciously quitting from office to allow the new National Executive committee led by Chief Obasi Lawson to assume authority and lead IPMAN to greater heights, therefore, his agents or subordinates should also follow the same way and stop causing disharmony in the association.

He observed that IPMAN as a united and one family was currently led by Chief Obasi Lawson and that all other zones should pledge their loyalty to his national executive committee, even while urging the general public to disregard what he called “the unguarded and careless statement by a few disgruntled members of the association”.

He remind those former officers who are yet to pledge their loyalty and support to the new national executive led by Chief Obasi Lawson of the impending consequences of contempt of the court against them.
“Based on the Federal High Court decision on the 20th March, 2014, the facts are clear to everybody that anybody acting or deriving his power or authority from the Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir led executive will be doing so at his legal peril. This will be applicable to the units, at the depots, zonal and the national level”, he said.

According to him, members of our association all over the country are law abiding and we are ready and continuously willing to partner the Federal Government to deliver the dividends of the transformation agendato President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Under the Obasi Lawson led executive, we are assuring the federal government and all the state governments under System 2E that all efforts to bring about the end to fuel scarcity will be made, and
vigorously pursue the policy of proper distribution of petroleum products as partners to PPMC”, he said.

He promised that the issue of pipeline vandalism as related to System 2E (Port Harcourt -Aba – Enugu) was already being tackled by a committee as set up by the zonal executive to ensure that vandalism was wiped out.
