The Bauchi State government has pledged to provide adequate security for teachers who are not taking part in the ongoing strike action embarked upon by the Academic Union of Secondary School Teachers (ASUSS) over suspension of allowances.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu, stated this on Wednesday while addressing principals of secondary schools in the state.
“Government has already made it clear that no work no pay for striking teachers. There are teachers that are not interested in the strike action, and government has directed the state commissioner of police to protect them.
Principals are also advised to liaise with their respective Divisional Police Officers and report to the ministry in writing if anybody threatens their teachers,” he said.
Aminu urged the principals to ensure hitch free academic sessions, adding that plans are on to conduct aptitude test for prospective teachers.
