The Special Task Force (STF) on the crisis in Plateau State has officially announced the rescue of the kidnapped father of Senator Joshua Dariye, whom it said was abandoned by the abductors somewhere near Quan pan.
Spokesman of the task force, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha said the men of the force still went after the kidnappers and were able to arrest some of them.
He added that the 87 year old man had been released and re-united with his family for proper medical care, while those arrested would be paraded soon.
Meanwhile, Governor Jonah Jang and his wife, Talatu, as well as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Senator Gyang Pwajok had on Thursday evening paid sympathy visit to Dariye where they expressed sadness over the incident.
Jang regretted that an innocent elderly man would be subjected to such trauma.
Pa Defwang Dariye was kidnapped at gun point in his house at Mushere, Bokkos Local government area last Saturday evening and was taken to an unknown destination.
