The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, on Tuesday in Abuja expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon reach the promised land as a nation.

Adesina said this during his decoration with the Centenary Lapel Pin by Mr. Chuks Chilaka, the National Coordinator of the Pin Marketing Company, Chilaks Nigeria Limited.

The minister noted that the centenary event was a success as the conference organised as part of the event attracted  Heads of States and Governments.

Adesina said the gesture showed that Nigeria, having come of age, would join the League of Nations.

“I know that Nigeria will get to its destination; I am confident that Nigeria would join the League of Nations.

“Today, Nigeria has the largest economy in Africa; we going to be very peaceful and prosperous.

“We are going to leave behind a legacy that our children would be very proud of.’’

He urged Nigerians to support and pray for President Goodluck Jonathan, whom he said, had been working hard to ensure that the leaders left behind legacy for younger the ones to emulate.

Adesina thanked the management of Chilaks Nigeria Limited for the gesture and urged them to continue to promote the nation.

Earlier, Chilaka said that the minister had performed well to become a household name as far as the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan in agriculture was concerned.

He said the lapel was significant as the nation was celebrating its 100 years of existence, adding:“It is a record that would be transferred to generations after us.

“The lapel is a refined metal that depicts homogeneity, oneness, patriotism and selflessness and when it is adorned on the chest, it synchronises with the heart beat,’’ he said.
