High end wedding magazine, WED is looking at honouring individuals and companies that have excelled in the wedding industry with the introduction of the Nigerian Wedding Industry Awards tagged WED Awards 2013.
The Nigerian Wedding Industry Awards is dedicated to recognizing the best and the brightest wedding professionals in the industry. As we all know, weddings are an integral part of our lifestyle as Nigerians and today the wedding industry has the highest number of entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
The convener of the awards is Akin Eso, the publisher of the relationship and events magazine, WED and also the brain behind the WED Expo 2012, an exclusive exhibition that brought together under one roof, the stakeholders in the wedding, events and entertainment industry for a period of two days with over 5000 guests and 120 exhibitors in attendance at the highly talked about event.
The awards would be presented in a variety of categories to honour both individuals and companies for their body of work in the previous year. Also we have included a few upcoming categories to encourage new starters in those categories. A person is free to nominate his or her business and other people can nominate for the person’s business as well. WED Awards is a merit award program. All nominees must ensure they have a portfolio to back their nominations. The category code is in bracket beside the category.
The categories for nomination include; Wedding Planner of the Year (WEDPL), Upcoming Wedding Planner of the Year (UWEDPL), Decorator of the Year (DECOR), Photographer of the Year (PHOTOG), Upcoming Photographer of the Year (UPHOTOG), Baker of the Year (BAKER), Makeup Artist of the Year (MUA), Upcoming Makeup Artist of the Year (UMUA), Aso-Oke Maker of the Year (ASOOKE), Groom House of the Year (GROHSE) and Bridal House of the Year (BRIHSE).
Other categories include; Videographer of the Year (VIDEO), Designer of the Year (Groom) (GDESIGN), Designer of the Year (Bridal) (BDESIGN), Band of the Year (BAND), MC of the Year (MASTC), Event Center of the Year (EVENTC), Caterer of the year (CATER), Drinks company of the Year (DRINK), Wedding Online Platform of the Year (WONLP), Support Company of the Year (SUPCM), Souvenir Company of the Year (SOUVCM), Rental Company of the Year (RENTCM), Wedding Stationery Company of the Year (WSTACM), Wedpreneur of the Year (WEDPRE), Security Company of the Year (SECURE) , Accessories Company of the Year (ACCESR) and Dessert Company of the year (DESSERT).
Speaking on the awards, Akin Eso opined ‘’there is need to recognise and appreciate the stakeholders in this industry. It is an industry that generates lots of income and probably the most belittled. This award ceremony will be huge in terms of following and patronage, we are happy with the responses we have been getting in the past few days, it’s been commending’’.
