A pan-Igbo group, Aka Ikenga, has decried the apathy which several Nigerians in the Southern part of the country have shown towards the collection of their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

The group, in a press statement made available to THISDAY and signed by its president, Goddy Uwazurike, said it was dismayed.

“We are shocked that our people have neglected to collect their PVC cards,” he said.

While making a strong case for the collection of the PVCs, the group said, “We urge you, in fact, demand that you collect your PVC today. Your PVC is your only instrument for voting any candidate of your choice.”

According to the group, “It is important to note that without PVCs you cannot vote. This is what INEC has declared to be the position. You can determine who wins the 2015 and subsequent elections if and only if you have collected your PVC. This you can do if you go to the INEC office in the various Local Governments in the country today.”

In another development, Aka Ikenga has sworn in new EXCO members. They are Uwazurike, (President), Chief Anthony Idigbe, (V.P), Edechime Nnabuike, Chuks Okeugiri and Charles Odunukwe, Mr. Dave Nwachukwu, and Mr Onyeani Uka Nwosu (Vice-Presidents).

Others are Paul Nnaji and Okey Ilofulunwa (Secretary and Deputy), Ochiagha Ano Anyanwu (Treasurer), Joseph Okolo (Financial Secretary), Chief Okey Okyemobi (Publicity Secretary), Ozo Nnaemeka Anaekie (Legal Adviser) and Chief Ugo Ofodile (Provost).

The newly elected officers were sworn in last Sunday in Lagos.

Prominent Igbo sons who witnessed the swearing in were, the President General of Ohanaeze, Chief Gary Enwo-Igariwey, Eze Cletus I. Ilomuanya, General Azubuike Ihejirika, Prof. A.B.C. Nwosu, former Governor Peter Obi, and a host of others.
