Ambassador of Ecuador to Nigeria, HE Leopoldo Rovayo, met with Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Executive Governor of Kano State, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano and Malam Umar Farouk Rabiu, President of Kano State Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
Desirous of promoting Ecuador in one of the most significant Northern region Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje received the Ambassador of Ecuador and his add-on delegation, and expressed gratitude for forging a relationship and creating awareness about Ecuador in Kano despite the security challenges in the Northern region. The Governor said through the Kano State Chamber of Commerce, the State will partner with Ecuador to boost Agriculture in the region and he also gave gift to the Ambassador.
During their conversation Ambassador said that it was necessary for him to bring Ecuador to every Nigerian doorstep and also commended the Governor for his recent project in building the industrial park to develop Kano state tradition for being a place for commerce and industry.
Ambassador and his accompanying delegates extended their visit to the palace of Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano State where Ambassador emphasized the significant of both countries friendship and said he admires his expertise and should always use his rich knowledge to assist government when necessary. As Kano State is the business hub in the Northern region, the Emir encouraged Ambassador to bring in investment to the people of the region and he also urged him to travel to other parts of Nigeria to see possible areas where Ecuador/Nigeria can increase Economic relations. The Emir on the other hand was elated with the visit of the Envoy and his delegates.
The Envoy thereafter proceeded to the President of Kano State Chamber of Commerce to lecture on Ecuador/Nigeria business relationship, investment in Ecuador, opportunities and policies put in place by the Ecuadorian government for smooth running of business for investors and the Chamber said they are interested in export/import from both countries in products like shrimps, flowers as well as other products that can interest Nigerians. The Ambassador also received gifts and equally gave gifts (arts works) from Ecuadorian painters.
Ambassador finally made a brief call to Freedom Radio where he was interviewed about the commercial ties between Ecuador and Nigeria. He expressed thanks to the Government of Kano State for providing additional security personnel during his visits.
