Wole_SoyinkaLagos— Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, said yesterday that the past 10 years in the Nigerian polity had witnessed  unresolved high profile assassinations.

He made the declaration in Lagos at the launch of the book  entitled, Micro-seconds Away from Death, written by Wale Adedayo, a former Chief Press Secretary to Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State.

Soyinka, who was the Chairman of the occasion, said: “It is mind-boggling that all the high profile political murders across the nation had not been solved.”

He said that this was the time for Nigerians to stand up to all forms of intimidation by defining for themselves what they truly wanted.

Also speaking on the occasion, a former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, described the book as factual, compelling and a must read.

He said that he was at the launch to remove the curses he placed on the writer when the former was an employee of the Ogun Government.

Osoba said: “When Adedayo was working for Daniel, a lot of allegations were levelled against me and I cursed him alongside the then Commissioner for Information, Mr. Niran Malolu.

“My curse was that they would live to be lied against as they did to me.”

He said that he had wanted to stay away from the book launch because he thought it was going to be an abuse on the Ogun Governor, but that he changed his mind after reading the book.

Also speaking, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun said: “Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be here. But, the factuality of the book made me to come.”
