Confederations Cup: Prove your case, CAF tells Heartland

Heartland FCConfederation of African Football, CAF has asked Heartland FC for evidence to support their protest against US Bitam of Gabon for the walkover in their Confederation Cup match.

The continental body at the weekend  asked Heartland FC to provide documentary evidence to support their protest against US Bitam after they were walked over in their Confederation Cup first round, second leg match last weekend.

The Nigerian Cup champions failed to arrive on time for the game, and match officials performed walkover formalities.

But the club immediately fired off a formal protest to CAF, which has now requested for supporting documents.

Heartland are required to provide proof that the club booked their flight to Gabon on time for the tie.

In it’s letter to the NFF, CAF also demanded evidence that the Gabonese embassy delayed in the issuance of travel visas to the Nigerian club and questioned the NFF’s inability to keep the continental body informed of communication with the Gabonese federation.

The NFF were also required to provide proof that Heartland were denied landing permit on arrival in Libreville. The Nigerian club won the first leg 2-1 in Owerri.
