Germany striker Mario GomezGermany striker Mario Gomez’s agent has hinted of a move away from Bayern Munich after a frustrating season spent mainly warming the bench at the Champions League semi-finalists.

Gomez, 27, has still managed to score seven Bundesliga goals this season, despite coming off the bench for nine of his 15 league appearances as Bayern were crowned German champions for the 23rd time last weekend.

Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic has been coach Jupp Heynckes’ first-choice striker this term since joining from Wolfsburg, while Peru striker Claudio Pizarro netted four goals in the 9-2 rout of Hamburg at the end of March.

Both Mandzukic and Pizarro scored in Bayern’s 2-0 win at Juventus on Wednesday as Bayern booked their place in the last four of the Champions League, where they face Barcelona, while Gomez spent the evening on Bayern’s bench.

“Of course, Mario is not happy about the situation and it is clear that this can not go on indefinitely,” Gomez’s agent Uli Ferber told German daily Bild

“Mario is doing everything right, he’s loyal and always ready to play.

“He’d really have deserved it if the coach took a chance on him.”

Bayern paid Stuttgart 30 million euros for Gomez in 2009 and his market value is around 35 million euros ($US45.89m) having scored 71 goals in 109 Bundesliga appearances for Munich.

Gomez is still clearly part of Joachim Loew’s plans for the Germany team, with the World Cup in Brazil just over a year away, but the striker needs first-team football to stay in the national coach’s plans.

“The desire (from other clubs) to sign Mario is there and always has been,” said Gomez.

“During his time at VfB Stuttgart, his contract extension at Bayern and, of course, now.

“At the moment, it’s not about individual stories, but all about FC Bayern and Mario wants to contribute to their great season.”
