Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba is hopeful that his charges will maintain the 100 percent record they posted during the Africa Under-17 Championship qualifiers.
The Eaglets touched down on Wednesday in Doha, Qatar for a three-week training stint ahead of the 2013 Africa Under-17 Championship billed to start in Morocco in April 13.
The Eaglets were unbeaten in the qualifies and now they are aiming to emulate the 2007 set who won the African title beating Togo 1-0 in Lome. The team led by late coach Theophilus Tella went on to conquer the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in South Korea.
“Our aim is not just to qualify for the World Cup. We want to win the African championship too. During the qualifiers we posted a 100 percent record. And that is what we are hoping to do in Morocco Adequate preparation has been the key to our success so far and we are not going to rest on our oars,” said Garba.
The Eaglets are staging a comeback to the continent. They failed to qualify for two editions after the 2007 triumphant runs. The Eaglets under Garba have showed some promise as they won all their qualification matches home and away.
