The 7th edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria Junior Tennis Championship will hold from March 4 to 9, organiser of the competition, the International Tennis Academy, has said.
The competition, which will feature no fewer than 150 players aged between 10 and 18, will hold at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.
Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Mr. Ugo Okoroafor, said the objective of the junior is to ensure that young talents are discovered early and nurtured to limelight while establishing a strong transition platform for the senior category and tennis development.
CBN also sponsors the Senior Open Tennis Championship.
Okoroafor confirmed CBN’s satisfaction with development and success recorded in the championship as player from the CBN circuit have always represented Nigeria at the African Junior Tennis Championships and other international events.
Sarah Adegoke, a junior champion at the 2010 edition, reached the senior event final last year. Also, Christian Paul, a three-time finalist in the U-14 and U-16 and winner of the 2011 CBN Juniors U-18, won gold at last year’s National Sports Festival held in Lagos.
