Wolves and Akwa United will clash in a historic Federation Cup semi-final as both teams seek a place in the final for the first time. Akwa beat Wolves 1-0 in a rescheduled league match to set the tone for a grudge game in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Akwa United captain Ini Akpan said that his side are destined to be in the final so Warri Wolves won’t stop them.
”I am sure we are destined to play in this year’s Federation Cup final. We will do our best and leave the rest to God, I know it won’t be easy but I don’t see Warri Wolves stopping us. We put everything in God’s hand,” Akpan said
Akwa created a major upset when they eliminated cup holders Heartland 5-4 on penalties after fulltime scores stood at 1-1. Wolves goalkeeper John Dosu, who featured for Akwa United last season, said that he has the keys to unlock the Uyo-based team.
”It is a big game that we must win. We are ready for the match. The trophy is our target and we will see off Akwa United. We want to write our name in gold,” he said.
“I played for Akwa United before, I know the team inside and out, and that will be used to beat them. We can’t afford to lose to them this time around.”
