After the inglorious and insensitive administrations of Ex- Governors Mbadinuju and Ngige, Anan people were not despondent but in high spirit, believing that Governor Peter Obi would perform, predecessors failed having recovered his stolen mandate through the legal process and successfully come back after his impeachment through the supreme court judgment. Only a God-sent leader could face these raw challenges.
Today, the good people of Anambra are glorifying God that our expectations were not misplaced as he had packaged and donated Governor Peter Obi to us.
Let me state unequivocally that in Anambra state, since the end of the war and with the exception of Jim Nowbodo, Peter Obi is the only Governor who has demonstrated practically that the primary invitation of a Governor is turn the economic fortunes of the people for the benefit of the common man.
I may be stating the obvious to say that Governor Obi is in politics, today for a rescue mission. For instance, the money he gets from the federation account has not appreciated than that of his predecessors but the resources are judiciously used to meet all obligations in clearing back log of arrears in salaries, work in schools, hospital construction and rehabilitation of decayed infrastructure.
He makes prudent management of public funds his guiding policy. Little wonder that he finds money to embark on massive road construction and rehabilitation. Developmental programmes have taken off through approval of grants to the 107 communities in the state to rehabilitate roads and streets. Road construction works are near completion at the Awka and Onitsha location where 52 kilometers of roads are being constructed respectively.
The inner Awka ring road has been completed. He has awarded court road, zik Avenue, Arthur Eze road, works road and the Akwa bye-pass 17 years since Anambra state was created. It is in Governor Obi’s government that the people of Anambra State have ~ of owning a State Secretarial Complex which is under construction. An average ~ man believes in commerce buying and selling and related business transactions. The Obi regime is ensuring that the Central Bank of Nigeria branch office, a catalyst, to facilitate non cash transaction is completed and commissioned.
