… Goes for N10b loan through first bill to RSHA

Barely two weeks into his controversial administration, the sitting governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike has commenced what many believe is a programme to massively defraud the people of Rivers State through phoney bank loans.

Today, in a matter of a few minutes, his cronies approved his request to obtain a N10 billion bank loan from Zenith Bank Plc under the questionable purpose of carrying out some un-named projects.

We find it curious that the Chief Wike-led state government would be talking about taking a loan at this time when their leaders have been boasting around town of how the out gone President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan released the N105 billion the Federal Government owed to Rivers State on the eve of handover [May 28th]. Is it that Chief Wike and those who allegedly released the money ended up sharing and pocketing it amongst themselves? Or has Chief Wike diverted this money and now pretend that no such money belonging to the Rivers State Government exists? The APC demands for answers to these questions.

The APC would like to recall that in coming to office as governor in October, 2007, the first bill Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi sent to the then Rivers State House of Assembly was a bill to save N1billion monthly whereas the very first bill Chief Nyesom Wike sent to his Assembly today was for a questionable loan of N10 billion for unspecified projects.

Unsurprisingly, his coterie of court jesters temporarily occupying the Rivers State hallowed chambers approved the loan in a matter of minutes. Indeed, Rivers people are in for a bad deal. However, God will surely make their buccaneering sojourn to come to an early end soon.

The APC would also like to draw the attention of Rivers people to the fact that the orchestrated stories by Nyesom Wike alleging massive looting of Government House, Port Harcourt are mere fabrications intended to prepare the grounds for the massive looting of Rivers State resources through dubious projects, contracts and bank loans.

In preparation to give effect to his evil scheme, the governor has already positioned his henchmen in certain government establishments that will be used to funnel away the State’s funds in the few months he will be in power. Such positions include that of the Secretary to the State Government, the Rivers State Sanitation Authority and a couple of others. His trusted henchemen heading those departments and agencies will serve as fronts to divert our collective resources into his private pockets and those of his cronies. Little wonder a State Party Chairman would be considered appropriate to function as Chairman of the State Sanitation Agency.

Another project which the governor has positioned to funnel away the State resources is the phantom No Pothole Project he commissioned under suspicious circumstances on the day of his swearing-in. The APC is convinced that the presence of Julius Berger in the web of arrangement is to create a quick avenue to channel and launder funds to private pockets including that of the former First Lady who is known to have been involved in various dubious schemes with the construction giant in Abuja in the 6 years the husband was President.

Again as expected, after the ceremonial flag off of the No pothole Project on the 29th of May by Chief Wike, neither Julius Berger has been sighted anywhere working nor any potholes filled on our roads. Indeed, this is the era of the big scam by the master of big deals.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, therefore, would like to warn companies, individuals and banks, especially Zenith Bank Plc to distant themselves from the web of deals Chief Wike and his fraudulent merchants are weaving to enrich themselves. As the hammer falls very soon and they are swept away by the ever slow but certain rolling wheel of justice, those who are found to have aided and/or abetted the various designs that duped Rivers people will have huge price to pay as none will be spared the full wrath of the law.
