Twitter has verified the account of House of Representatives Chairman on Public Accounts and Lagos West Senatorial District Senator-elect Hon. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
Hon. Adeola’s Twitter account (@YAYIAdeola) was verified Tuesday Afternoon around 1pm. This is coming four months after opening the account.
Reacting to the verification, Hon. Adeola stated he would do his best when inaugurated as Senator to enact laws that will enhance social media in the country.
“I have found Twitter very fascinating. It helped me interact on a first-hand basis with many of my prospective constituents in the past few months, especially during the electioneering campaigns”.
Hon. Adeola recalls during two separate incidences when his campaign office was attacked, and when he was rumoured to have died, the Honourable said “the use of social media help me doused the fear of lovers, friends, family and well wishers about my well-being and safety”.
“I have come to appreciate the importance of new media in this age and time,” Hon. Adeola said.
He also promised to protect Nigerian’s fundamental right to freedom of speech.
He further used the opportunity to reiterate that he will engage Nigerians especially his teeming supporters, fans and followers on all his various social media platforms.
Aside Senator Bukola Saraki representing Kwara Central in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hon. Solomon Adeola is the only House of Representative member and lawmaker with a verified twitter account in Nigeria.
