Nigerians immediately reacted to the news that former president Olusegun Obasanjo has left the ruling party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his ward chairman tore Obasanjo’s membership card.
Later, information appeared that Ogun state chapter of the PDP has announced Olusegun Obasanjo’s removal from the party.
The former president is yet to give the detailed explanation for this action, but the tensions between the latter and the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan increased during the past weeks.
Obasanjo accused Jonathan of failing in leadership and encouraging corruption.
Last week, the former president “endorsed” Jonathan’s opponent, Muhammadu Buhari.
In his turn, President Jonathan on Saturday, February 14th, blamed the former president for working to create an Interim National Government, which OBJ was allegedly hoping to head.
Read below what Nigerians have to say about this news:
Kelvin King said: “Let him go and join his criminal colleagues in APC, now we know that PDP belongs to the new generation politicians, not old criminals.”
“Thank God… see how God pack all the criminals in Nigeria and dump them in one party so that light will be separated from darkness. GEJ is a man of wisdom and courage… look at how the hand of time is turning to a better Nigeria…once the stronghold that is against the progress of Nigeria are dashed into pieces then we shall see the light and glory of the transformation agenda of GEJ.. RIP OBJ,” Hillary Mike added.
Adeboye Yinka also expressed his attitude: “Nigeria’s Nebuchadnezzar will soon be tamed. There is only one God of the Universe and His name is not Obasanjo.”
