A 26-year-old man has been charged for attempted murder after he strangled his girlfriend because she complained about his bed wetting.

A 26-year-old North Wales man, Phillip Davies, has been arrested and charged to court for strangling his 25-year-old girlfriend, Keelie Challoner, because she complained of his bed-wetting habit, the Wales News Service reports.

According to the police, Davies had spent the night in Challoner's house when he urinated on the bed and she woke up and noticed what he had done, she got angry with him and told him to throw the wet mattress out of the house.

Embarrassed and shamed by his woman's reaction, Davies throttled her and squeezed his hands tightly around her throat which made Challoner think she would die.

Sentencing, district Judge Gwyn Jones told Davies:

"You took issue with the fact that she understandably did not wish to have a soiled bed in her house.

You became offensive towards her then violent. She did not know whether she was going to live or die."

Davies pleaded guilty to assaulting Miss Challoner, while the court heard from his defense that he was at ‘rock bottom’ at the time of the incident.

After he was convicted of the crime, Davies was sentenced to six months behind the bars.

Judge blames 3-yr-old girl who was raped because she walked into suspect’s home

Read Time:1 Minute, 23 Second

A judge in California, USA, M. Marc Kelly, is in the center of the storm as he has been getting verbal attacks from all and sundry for putting the blame on a 3-year-old girl who was raped by a 20-year-old man, Kevin Jonas Jojano, on the toddler for walking into the suspects' home.

According to Judge Kelly, Rojano of Orange County, California, did not intend to hurt the girl when he raped her.

Apart from the remark which has been seen as the dumbest thing any judge could ever make in a rape case, Kelly sentenced Rojano to a mere 10 years in prison as against the mandatory sentence which requires 25-year to life in prison.

Instead, Rojano was found guilty of sodomizing the 3-year-old girl in his garage.

According to the prosectors in the case, Rojano was playing video games in the garage of his home in Santa Ana, when the victim walked in. Rojano said that he became sexually aroused by the child and he sexually assault her.

During the attack, the girl's mother was looking for the child. Rojano placed his hand on the child’s mouth so that she does not respond to her mother.

The child later complained of pain, and her mother called police when she found injuries consistent with sexual assault.

Judge Kelly said:

"Mr. Rojano did not seek out or stalk the victim. He was playing video games and the girl wandered into the garage.

He inexplicably became sexually aroused, but did not appear to consciously intend to harm the victim when he sexually assaulted her."

Florida Senator announces 2016 presidential bid

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

Florida senator, Marco Rubio has become the 4th person to declare his 2016 United States presidential bid.

Rubio reportedly told donors that he will run for the Republican nomination for US president in 2016, saying on a conference call that he was "uniquely qualified" to bring the party into the future.

The 43-year old is the 3rd Republican to officially announce a candidacy after Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and is expected to make a formal announcement at a political rally in Miami later on Monday.

Rubio's announcement comes a day after former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she would stand for the Democratic nomination.

Rubio, who is a Cuban-American, has been a harsh critic of President Barack Obama's policies, especially on immigration and the diplomatic thaw with Cuba.

Referring to Clinton's announcement yesterday in a call with the Associated Press, Rubio said:

"Just yesterday, we heard from a leader from yesterday who wants to take us back to yesterday, but I feel that this country has always been about tomorrow"

BBC reports that the Florida senator, who was first elected in 2010, holds conservative positions on government and military spending, abortion and negotiations with Iran over its nuclear programme.

He is due to speak to supporters at the Freedom Tower in Miami at 18:00 local time.

Read Time:59 Second

Before you start reading we want to make sure that you know that: “This is the single most significant action taken by a Republican towards impeachment to date.”

Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., is preparing to introduce a resolution setting forth the House’s definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” drawing an unmistakable line in the sand that would directly challenge Obama’s actions, Conservative Tribune reported.

The resolution introduces 11 different specific actions that fit the Constitution’s standard of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” and several of them apply directly to Obama.

For example, the resolution lists “failing to take care that the laws be faithfully executed through signing statements or systematic policies of non-enforcement” and “substituting executive agreements for treaties” as two of eleven potential high crimes and misdemeanors the House would be declaring “impeachable,” according to Breitbart.

It further adds that the use of military force without congressional authorization.
This resolution was crafted with the assistance of legal experts like Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano and civil liberties attorney Bruce Fein.
It’s about TIME!

Three Nigerians Win Parliamentary Seats In UK

0 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 26 Second

Three out of five Nigerians, Chuka Ummuna, Helen Grant and Chi Onwurah, who contested in the United Kingdom general elections on Thursday, have emerged victorious winning seats in the British parliament.

Ummuna, who contested on the platform of the Labour Party, won the constituency seat for Streatham with 20,037 votes (42.8 per cent), beating Chris Nicholson, a Liberal Democrat with 16,778 votes (35.8 per cent), Rahoul Bhansali of the Conservative Party with 8,578 votes (18.3 per cent), Rebecca Findlay of the Green Party with 861 votes (1.8 per cent), and Geoffrey Macharia of Christian Party with 237 votes (0.5 per cent).

Ummuna, who was born and bred in Steatham, is well known in his community and generally referred to as ‘the UK Obama’.

Prior to becoming Labour’s parliamentary candidate in Streatham, Ummuna was Vice Chair of Streatham Labour Party from 2004 to 2008 and had held a variety of positions throughout the local party. He is a member of the GMB and Unite trade unions and sits on the management committee of progressive pressure group, Compass

“I know our party will do everything we can for the residents of this fantastic place,” Ummuna said after emerging victorious on Friday.

Grant, born in London in 1962, of a Nigerian father and British mother, has become Conservative Party’s first black female Member of Parliament. She secured the seat for Maidstone and the Weald constituency with 23,491 votes (48.0 per cent), beating second and third runner-ups Peter Carroll, a Liberal Democrat, who garnered 17,602 votes (36.0 per cent) and Rav Seeruthun of Labour with 4,769 (9.7 per cent).

Also, Onwurah, won the Newcastle Central seat as a Labour Party candidate. Onwurah secured the parliamentary seat with 15,692 votes (45.9 per cent), beating Gareth Kane, a Liberal Democrat with 8,228 votes (24.1 per cent), and Conservative’s Nick Holder with 6,611 votes (19.4 per cent).

Two Nigerians, Abiodun Akinoshun and Kemi Adegoke, who also vied in the 2010 UK general polls lost to other candidates. Akinoshun contested for the Erith and Thamesmead parliamentary seat as an independent candidate. He got 438 votes, losing to Labour candidate, Teresa Pearce, who got 19,068 votes. Adegoke who contested as a Conservative for the Dulwich and West Norwood parliamentary seat lost with 10,684 votes (22.2 per cent) to Labour candidate Tessa Jowell, who scored 22,461 votes (46.6 per cent).

Meanwhile, the general results for the Thursday election in UK shows the Tories are leading, but far from clinching the required number of seats to form a government.

Despite winning the largest number of House of Commons seats in the poll, David Cameron’s Conservatives fell short of a majority that only a few months ago was considered inevitable.

Kansas bans 2nd-trimester abortion

0 0
Read Time:47 Second

The US state of Kansas has become the first to ban 2nd trimester abortions.

Republican state governor, Sam Brownback yesterday, Tuesday signed into a law an act to halt what lawmakers said are "dismemberment abortions."

The law goes into effect on July 1 and prohibits the use of dilation and evacuation. The bill says the procedure can result in the fetus being extracted in pieces.

The procedure has been described as horrifying by supporters in Kansas while women's healthcare groups have said it is considered the safest way to terminate a pregnancy in the second trimester.

The law allows for the procedure to preserve the life of a pregnant woman or when the mother's health is in serious jeopardy from the pregnancy.

Similar bans are being considered in Oklahoma, Missouri and South Carolina, as the procedure is used in about 8 to 9 percent of abortions in the United States.

Malia Obama Got Driving Lessons From The Secret Service

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

One of the best parts about being the president's kid must be having a bunch of Secret Service agents at your disposal. Case in point: The Obamas' teenage daughter, Malia, who'll be turning 17 this July, got driving lessons not from her parents but from members of the agency.

In an interview with Rachael Ray that will air this Thursday, Michelle Obama revealed that she wasn't allowed to teach her daughter Malia to drive, CNN reports. "They wouldn't let me in the car with her."

But, the First Family is making every effort to ensure both of their daughters have as normal an upbringing as possible, so they enlisted the Secret Service to help with that most classic teenage rite of passage: driving lessons. "I think [driving] gives her a sense of normalcy, like the rest of her friends are doing. And my kids have got to learn how to live in the world like normal kids," Michelle Obama said.

The First Lady also talked about what she misses most about being a civilian: getting to drive around in a car with the windows open. Apparently, when you're one of the most prominent women in the world, security concerns call for rolled up windows. She also hasn't been behind the wheel for seven years, since her family hit the national stage.

There are no reports on whether Malia got ordinary "here's how you parallel park" driving lessons, or some sort of top-level "how to lose a bad guy" course. But, if our research is any indication (i.e. watching the 1996 Sinbad classic First Kid), it was the latter.
