The New York City Police Department is investigating an incident in which a parade of motorcycles chased a motorist, his wife and 2-year-old daughter after their Range Rover SUV bumped into one of the motorcyclists on Sunday.

A video that was posted to YouTube shows motorcyclists banging in the windows of the SUV on the driver's side and in the backseat area where the child sat. The video has gone viral and had attracted more than 1.2 million views as of Monday night.

The motorcyclists were coming from an event or place called Hollywood Stunts when the incident unfolded somewhere around 116th Street and the West Side Highway, Lt. John Grimpel said.

When the driver bumped one of the cyclists and drove off, the motorcyclists gave chase and surrounded him.

In the tape, the driver, 33-year-old Alexian Lien of Manhattan, is seen bumping into a number of motorcyclists and bikes and speeding off.

Further north, the driver is stopped and one of the motorcyclists gets off his bike and approaches the SUV, which speeds off. Later, at a red light, two bikers run over to the SUV and beat in the windows, the tape shows.

The driver was treated at New York Presbyterian Hospital for lacerations to his back and face.

It is believed that the person who shot the video, known on YouTube as MichelinMan900, is one of the motorcyclists from the group. MichelinMan900 did not respond to an e-mail sent via YouTube.

The motorist's wife and child were not injured, Grimpel said.
