Here are some stars of the 2012 shows:
The Crystals band, comprising six young men and women, became a household name when they won the seventh edition of the Star Quest music reality TV show in April. The show was sponsored by Nigeria Breweries Plc. Since then, the profiles of members of the band have been on the rise and they have been able to perform at some gigs.
Mercy Chinwo emerged winner of Season 2 of Nigerian Idol. With success came a fat bank account and a juicy record deal. Several months after, nothing has been heard of the talented singer, though the producers of the show have promised she will storm the music scene soon.
Big Brother Africa
Big Brother Africa, one of the most popular reality shows in Africa, has turned some Nigerians into superstars after they became winners of the show in the past years. Some of them, like Goldie, either returned with more controversies than commendation or voluntarily quit the show after spending just two weeks in the house.
Project Fame West Africa
Sponsored by MTN, Season 4 of the Project Fame West Africa reality show will be talked about for a long time. Virtually all the contestants came to the show with immense talents. However, Ayobami Ayoola emerged the winner.
Nigeria’s Got Talent
Eight-year-old Amarachi Uyanne became the youngest winner of a reality TV talent hunt show in Nigerian history when she won the maiden edition of the Airtel-sponsored Nigeria’s Got Talent. With a whooping N10m as cash price, Amarachi will not be forgotten in a hurry as she beat thousands of other contestants to clinch the title.
