It was with awe and spiritual reverence that our correspondent stationed at Surulere area of Lagos State attended a church which held its service with fuel from anointing oil.

Our correspondent who had no fuel to make the journey to his own church of worship at Anthony, hence he decided to trek to a church in the neighborhood.

Many worshippers were charging their phones, laptops, and power banks at the church and some were even charging inverters. Our correspondent was not even surprised to find some persons ironing their clothes at the backyard of the church while service was going on.

Out of curiosity, our correspondent sauntered to th backyard to make an investigation on the source of the church’s inexhaustible power supply.

He was surprised to find many empty bottles of anointing oil just beside the generator.

It was when it was time for the word that the Pastor made a shocking revelation that the church service was being run on anointing oil because they were unable to get desiel to power the generator the night before.

However, our correspondent was unable to take pictures of the generator because his phone and camera batteries were down.

This is so cool and we are advising th spiritually inclined readers of FNN to try this at home. However make sure you have a valid insurance policy on your generator before you attempt to pour anointing oil into your generator because FNN will not be liable for any miracle which might occur in case your generator decides to start speaking in tongues.

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 13 Second

With the current scarcity of fuel and Petroleum Motor Spirit in Nigeria, many Nigerians who have long since resorted to dealing with and buying from black market operators to ease their pains have also been begging the Federal Government to explore alternatives to the use of petroleum products in the country.

The latest news reaching our headquarters however is that popular online retail stores Jumia.com are gearing up to start delivering fuel online to her customers.

This intent was made public through the Publicity/Media Director of Jumia Retail stores in a Press Release.

According to him, the management of Jumia.com have finally decided to listen to the wishes of Nigerians and will start distributing fuel online through her agents.

According to him, the market demand for a product determines its supply, and with the demand for Petrol incredibly high in this period, it is only rational for a retail store to engage in its supply.

Furthermore, he was quite certain that there is currently no legislation prohibiting the sale of petroleum products by online retail services in the country.

When asked how much th fuel will be sold per liter, he said that the company hadn’t yet finalized on the price, but it will be within the range of N120/Litre exclusive of delivery costs.

Nigerians are advised to keep a sharp lookout on Jumia.com website so as to not be left out in this opportunity.

“My Brother, I am lucky”, he told FNN correspondents. “If Jonathan had won, I would still be a single man right now”.

Read Time:42 Second

Abubakar Zibo, a security guard, who has been in prison custody for 13 years, was yesterday discharged and acquitted by a Lagos High Court, which found him not guilty of the murder of his friend, Charles.

Justice Kayode Ogunmekan said while delivering the judgement that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt the allegation of conspiracy and murder levelled against him as required by Section 1 of the Evidence Act, 2011.

The case, which was commenced by the Lagos State Coordinator, Legal Aid Council, Mrs L.Y. Salau, was later handed over to Mrs. Grace Adenubi.

The judge held that it was trite law that the burden of proof in a criminal case was on the prosecution, adding that where the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, the defendant must be discharged and acquitted.

The Pot And The Kettle: Husband, wife, exchange hot words in court

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 58 Second

It was a show of shame as 55-year-old man, Asimiyu Oladele, and his 48-year-old wife, Kudirat, threw caution to the wind and engaged each other in a war of words at a Grade ‘C’ Customary Court sitting at Inalende, in Ibadan North-West local government area of Oyo State, where they had gone to seek a divorce to their 15-year-old marriage which has produced two teenage children.

While Oladele accused his wife of serial adultery and lack of care and attempted murder, Kudirat accused her husband of being irresponsible, a tout and a lay about.

First to fire the salvo was Oladele and he said:

"I want to divorce her because she is adulterous. She fornicates to an extent that I caught her red-handed with her man-friend in our matrimonial home. They locked the entrance door that day, but I managed to see them through the window.

She also attempted to kill me by sending thugs to me when she could not cope with my silence over her behaviour. But her plan was averted because those guys she sent know me and they came to me to ask why my wife wanted to kill me, to which I took time to explain to them."

But his wife Kudirat would not be caught lying low as she told the court that she was also fed up of her husband and urged the court to divorce them

"I did not commit adultery, the person he met in the house with me was my alfa, and we were sitting down on the chair watching television, not in the bedroom. And it was his first time of coming back home after a year he has abandoned me and the children.

My husband is an irresponsible man, he doesn’t take care of me and the children. He is a tout. He has destroyed most the 'goods in my market.'

My Lord, since he is tired of me, I’m also ready to part ways with him. Please, separate us."

The president of the court, Ramon Olafenwa, had no option but to grant the warring parties their wishes:

"Having observed that there is no more love between the couple, the court hereby dissolves the 15-year-old marriage."

NWTF: Group urges Buhari to appoint women in key positions

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

The Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF), Ayisha Osori, has urged the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to appoint women in positions of decision making.

While speaking to NAN in Abuja on Wednesday, May 20, Osori said that it is also necessary for the incoming administration to adopt inclusive representation.

According to her, this is imperative as the performance of women at the general elections is poor.

She observed that the advocacy for change was required of the middle class in order to bring about revolution in the society

She said, "I am in two minds about this grassroot advocacy issue, because for me, all around the world it is the middle class that leads revolutions.

"It is the middle class that drives change; you do not expect the masses who are burgled down with many issues: poverty, looking for food, looking for water, health issues to actually care.

"It is the middle class that is going to drive change because for me, grassroot people have proven over and over again that what they care about is food.

"And if a man comes and provides it great, if a woman comes and provide it, I also think for them it’s great, the change we want to see in terms of inclusive representation is going to come from middle class, it is not going to come from grassroot.’’
