DELTA State wrestlers are not leaving anything to chance in their quest to win the maiden Chief E K Clark Open Wrestling Championship holding at the Brown Hill Events Centre in Warri,.
The wrestlers were yesterday seen sweating it out in readiness for the Championships, starting today.
Speaking to Sports Vanguard, Head coach of the Delta State team, Peter Nwamaka, said he confident that his hosts would honour Chief Clark in whose honour, the championship was put in place, by emerging overall winners..
“We have actually prepared for the competition having camped for a few weeks and we are ready to do the state proud. All my wrestlers are raring to go and show their stuff as they are on top form for the challenges ahead.
“This Championship will be a wonderful one. Interestingly, we are hosting the maiden edition and Delta state wrestlers will not disappoint. We’ll honour the Chief by emerging the overall champions of the competition.
“I have 41 wrestlers, comprising 29 boys and 12 girls, who are ready to do the State proud. They are tested. We have discovered talents to showcase at this competition. Dominic Nnalue, Lucky Opiated, Soso Tamara are among the wrestlers to do the battle for Delta State”, added Nwamaka
