ASABA — THE Operations Manager of an old generation bank at Agbor, Delta State and three others have been arraigned in court. They were arraigned before an Agbor chief magistrate’s court charged with conspiracy and robbery.

Although details of the charge was not made available at press time, the accused persons upon arraignment were immediately ordered to be remanded in Agbor prison custody while the court awaits further advice from the  state Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.

Case was adjourned to 25th of this month.

State Police command’s spokesman, Mr. Lucky Uyabeme,  told reporters that the bank raid which took place on  June 14 this year had an insider’s connection.

According to him, “the arrested Operations Manager of the bank is helping the police in investigation. The command will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that all the hoodlums involved are brought to book.”

“Preliminary investigation revealed an insider connection with the bank robbery as the two keys to the strong room that supposed to be kept by two different senior staff were left with the Operations Manager in turn left the strong room open. The four bullet proof doors were not tampered with. One of the senior staff of the bank who supposed to be with one of the keys to the strong room purported to be sick, handed over the keys”, the PPRO stated.

The same gang that raided the Agbor bank, according to police also invaded a bank in Asaba barely two weeks after but was successfully foiled.
