The Senate Committee Chairman on Aviation and the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Senator Hope Uzodimma has denied being given money by the National secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to execute the Oguta State Assembly re-run which was held recently.

Reacting to insinuations that a serving   senator from Imo State was believed to have diverted N100 million allegedly released by Abuja to the Imo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Oguta re-run election, Uzodimma exonerated himself from the allegation.

“For the avoidance doubt, any enquiry about how the re-run was funded should be directed to the state chapter of PDP in Imo State and not casting aspersions on certain individuals”, he noted.

The Senator said PDP was a disciplined party and that no member of the party given money to execute a particular project to advance the cause of PDP would divert the funds.

He said the opposition in the state was behind the rumour to cause disaffection amongst the followership of PDP but that no amount of blackmail and rumour peddling would deny the party victory at the re-run.

The Senator added that the State chapter of the party had prior to the election appointed him chairman of the re-run election committee which he was yet to submit the committee’s report to the party because the election is inconclusive.
