Nigerian ConstitutionThe Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN)  Thursday  gave further reasons why it is  opposed to  the declaration of  emergency rule by President Goodluck Jonathan in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, saying the action will make elected officials irrelevant.

Apparently worried by the discordant notes emanating from the opposition parties over the new security measure, ACN said a better understanding of the situation will show that democratic structures will not only  be sidelined but castrated in the states affected by the martial law.

In a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party urged members of the National Assembly to study details of the emergency rule proclamation carefully to enable them make an informed decision on the issue.
