Ex-Imo Commissioner, Aguwa dies in Motor Accident .Ohakim, Others Mourn

Shock waves went through the famous Aguwa family of Ezuhu, Nguru Nweke in Aboh Mbaise LGA Imo State as news filtered in that one of their illustrious sons, Dr Alloysius Aguwa has passed on, after a ghastly motor accident in Bayelsa State.

It was learnt that Aguwa, a former Commissioner for Petroleum in Imo State under the Ikedi Ohakim administration died on the East-West road, Yenegoa, Bayelsa State, after the Jeep carrying him and other occupants skidded off the high way and plunged into a river.

The United Nations UN, Consultant was said to be returning to PortHarcourt, Rivers State, after inspecting some projects in Yenegoa.

Meanwhile, the former Governor of Imo State, under which Alloy Aguwa served as Commissioner, Dr Ikedi Ohakim has expressed shock over the sudden death of Dr Aguwa.

Ohakim who could not believe the news when it was broken to him said Aguwa was one of the best heads in his profession (Petroleum and Environment) and it look a lengthy persuasion for Aguwa to abandon his lucrative job in the United States to return home and serve Imo State.

“I am shocked beyond words. I was with him last week, and even wrote a Preface in a new book he is about launching” Ohakim told Trumpeta.

In a message sent to the former Enlarged Exco members during the Ohakim regime, and signed by Sir Emma Ohakim, the former Chief of Staff, it read “With heavy hearts we announce the tragic death, yesterday of one of us, Dr Alloysius Aguwa. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Let us continue to pray for the family”.
