Twent-five students of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, have been arrested in connection with the killing of the institution's senior lecturer, Mr Nathaniel Abimaje, at the weekend.
Speaking to the press in his office, on Monday, the Rector of the polytechnic, Prof. Matthew Ajibero, blamed ethnic and tribal tensions among the students in the campus for the crisis leading to the killing of the lecturer.
He stated that students of Igala and Igbira ethnic stock have been having some problems with themselves for quite some time for certain reasons known to themselves and that inspite of the series of interventions of the school authorities, violence broke out last Friday evening.
