The Alliance for Democracy (AD) has denounced a statement made by a factional leader of the party, Chief Micheal Koleoso at the National convention of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the effect that AD has joined the opposition merger.
The party in a statement issued Saturday by its National Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Salau, described as misleading the impression created that AD is participating in the talks for the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
"This is to inform the public that AD is not involved in the merger process to form APC by some political parties. The party has not at any time received an invitation to participate in the merger.
"It is amazing that Chief Micheal Koleoso, a political leader of the ACN in Oyo state, masqueraded as the chairman of AD at the convention of ACN and made a mock statement that the great party was involved in the merger plan. The party hereby denounces Chief Micheal Koleoso. He is not an AD member.”
