The proposed merger by some political parties against the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the country will not yield any positive result, says Jigawa chapter of the party.

The Chairman, PDP Dutse Local Government Council, Alhaji Awaisu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Dutse that “this is not the first time that different political parties merged to face PDP but they could not succeed”.

The chairman, who recalled the 1999 merger between the defunct APP and AD against PDP, said that the effort did not yield result.

He added that instead, PDP won the presidential election with wide margin.

“This time around, we are going to surprise the opposition by repeating the same thing.”

“PDP is a party with good manifesto that takes care of people, that is why people do not want to leave it and we will continue to win elections.”

“I am calling on everybody to come and join PDP because it is the party that will work for them at all levels of government as it is doing now, ” he said.
