Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Ekiti State chapter, has denied any hand in the recent attack of Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Budget and Research.
There were insinuations that members of the party masterminded the attack at Igede Ekiti.
ACN, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tunde Adeleke, in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, exonerated members of ACN in the attack on the lawmaker.
Opeyemi is a member of the ACN representing Ado Ekiti-Irepodun -Ifelodun federal constituency in the National Assembly.
According to the statement “Our attention has been drawn to newspaper reports quoting the Federal legislator representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I, Mr. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, that he was attacked by suspected thugs believed to be working for the Action Congress of Nigeria (A C N) in Igede Ekiti. We believe Mr. Bamidele was misquoted by newspaper reports as no elected legislator under the banner of ACN and who is still a member of the party could accuse his own party of thuggery.”
