NIGERIA: Amaechi urged to fight crude oil theft

Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers StateGOVERNOR Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, has been urged to step up the war against crude oil theft in the state.

Managing Director, Port Harcourt Refining Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr. Lan Udoh, at Government House, Port Harcourt, said stepping up the fight would guarantee uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to the state.

Udoh, who visited the governor, said part of the challenges they faced included crude oil theft.

He said: “Our mission here is to seek support and cooperation from you (Amaechi), as we need strong support in securing the crude oil supply pipeline. Similar measures, had been taken, and successes recorded in the product evacuation line.”

On his part, Governor Amaechi called for collaboration between NNPC and the state government to guard against crude oil theft in the state, adding that the state government had acquired two surveillance helicopters to guard against crime in the state.
