Aderibigbe was accused of hiding the corpse of his secret lover for more than five months by embalming her corpse in his apartment while he also joined the search team in looking for the woman who was declared missing by her relatives.
The accused, said to be an auxiliary staff of the Bailiff department of a Lagos High Court, was arraigned on a one- count charge of murder, but his plea was not taken by the presiding magistrate, Miss Y.O. Badejo-Okunsanya.
Magistrate Okunsanya ordered that the accused be remanded in prisons custody pending the outcome of report from the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, on the matter, and also ordered the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos to duplicate the case file and forward it to DPP for advice.
According to the charge: “that you Nojeem Aderibigbe, on 30 July, 2012, at about 002 hours, at 12, Kibishile street, Papa Ashafa, Agege, Lagos, in the Lagos magisterial district, did unlawfully kill one Idowu Olatunji, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 221 of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.”
It was gathered that the alleged heinous act of the accused was revealed when some of his neighbors perceived some offensive odor oozing out from the accused apartment and also noticed that the accused had started selling some of his personal belongings. They reported the matter to the police which led to his arrest.
Police prosecutor, Corporal Cyriacus Osuji, informed the court that the said offence is punishable under section 221 of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011. Meanwhile the matter was adjourned till 8 April, 2013.
